Report: Eagles assistants had to be separated

As if things couldn’t get any worse in Philadelphia, there were reports after the Eagles 38-20 loss to the Patriots that assistant coaches Marty Mornhinweg and Jim Washburn got into a verbal confrontation on the sideline and actually had to be separated before it got physical.

Week 12 in review
And it actually occurred when Philadelphia was still leading New England.

According to CSN Philly, the two have not had problems with each other before, and while there’s been no official word on why the two went after each other on the sideline Sunday, the Philadelphia Daily News speculated that Washburn -- the defensive line coach -- didn’t appreciate the play-calling of Mornhinweg, the offensive coordinator.

Particularly during the second quarter when the Patriots were in the middle of a 17-point spree and Mornhinweg continued calling for pass after pass (you’ll note that Vince Young threw for 400 yards but LeSean McCoy only recorded 10 carries). At one point, the Eagles went three-and-out on three incomplete passes, not giving Philadelphia’s defense enough time to rest.

Which might have contributed to a terrible second quarter for the Eagles defense. Not to mention an upset Washburn.

They both suck.  Too bad they were pulled apart.  The Eagles sideline is a zoo.  Who's fighting?  Who is sitting by themselves?  I was at the game and fans started to flood out in the third quarter.  The Eagles were just not putting forward a professional effort.  What a disgrace.

Marty Morninwhig is an idiot, dont get me wrong, but this is a reflection of the Eagles offense under Andy Reid for the past decade. The Eagles are easily the most predictable team in the NFL. When I saw the Eagles go for a play action pass on a 4th and goal from the 1, I almost flipped out.

I have immense respect for Andy Reid, and what he has done in Philadelphia, but I wonder sometimes if he even remembers that he has a running game. This isnt the first year that this has been an issue.

I as an Eagles fan am ready for a change and an overhaul with the coaching staff. The only coaches I would like to keep is Howard Mudd, Jim Washburn, and Bobby April.

Maybe I am just speaking out of frustration, but as good as Andy Reid's regular season record is, his questionable decisions, horrible play calling and decision making, and lack of Super Bowls (0) has me thinking it is time for a change.

@Orion310 Somewhere out there? You mean on the bench of a 2-9 Vikings team? Donovan was awful to start the year and lost his job to a rookie. I don't think he has much to laugh at.

* Asinine (not asanine)
* 2-8, 3-7 at best (not the other way around)

That's the type of stuff people deserve second chances for and I appreciate you boys giving it to me.

Everyone and i mean EVERYONE deserves a second chance.

I never understood that argument.  It's completely asanine.  Everyone deserves a second chance?  I could give you a 1,000+ examples of people not deserving a second chance.....I'll start out withone: skinning a live baby.  Second chance?  Nope, and if you said yes you need to talk to someone.  So in Vick's case it just depends on how big your second chance circle is.  For some people, jail and money put him inside that circle.  For some people, wetting down a dog with a hose and putting jumper cables to each one of its ears because it wouldn't compete in a dog fight when you're worth $130 mil, puts you outside of that circle.  I don't wish harm on the guy, I already know he's a soft a.s.s bi.t.ch for torturing something that couldn't defend itself, I just don't root for his success on the football field.  But anyway, long story short....Not EVERYONE deserves a second chance.

McNabb???  Seriously?  He was let go by the Redskins and is the backup in Minnesota.  He has been removed from the Eagles for a few years now.  Write something that makes sense.  Why would he even care?

With a running game, it is about rhythm, both for the line and the RB.  When you give the RB the rock 6 times in the first half, and 4 times in the second half, you never allow them to get in a rhythm, therefore, they will be ineffective more times than not.  The key is to keep going to it and wear down the defense while giving your D time to rest.  It also forces the other team to play against the run a bit, therefore allowing your receivers more room to operate, perhaps giving your QB better reads and opens up the passing game.  Both games feed off of each other.  By refusing to do one, you limit the other.

I do agree with you in that aspect.  I just think we play the Patriots 10 times this year and we go 8-2, 7-3 at best.  They're just a better team than we are.  Put BB on the Eagles and Reid on the Patriots and same outcome.

You mean laughing his a** off after he lost his job to a rookie and his career is now over???  Yeah, the joke is on the Eagles...he should be massaging Reid's nuts every day for making him look so good...

That said, enough is enough...clean house!!!

McCoy was terrible yesterday.  31 yards on 10 rushes and one of those broke for 22.  Vince Young was the only reason we were in the game the first half and had Jackson caught a couple of passes the game woulda been much closer.  Either way, we are a LOWER-MIDDLE TIER team and the Patriots are a MIDDLE-UPPER TIER team.  No coach in the league could of won that game for us yesterday.  THEY ARE BETTER THAN US...plain and simple.
