As CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman noted earlier, Ndamukong Suh was suspended two games without pay by the NFL on Tuesday for his actions in Detroit's loss to Green Bay on Thanksgiving.

Suh received the suspension due to the fact that the incident in the Packers-Lions game was Suh's fifth on-field violation over the past two years, according to the NFL.

"NFL Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks notified Ndamukong Suh today that he has been suspended without pay for the Lions' next two games for his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Lions-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day," a statement from the NFL, obtained by Freeman, reads. "It was Suh's fifth violation of on-field rules in the past two seasons that has resulted in league discipline. Suh may not practice or be at the team practice facility for any other activities during the two-game suspension.

"He will be reinstated on December 12. Under the CBA, the suspension may be appealed within three business days. If appealed, an expedited hearing and decision would take place this week in advance of this weekend's games."

Suh drew a lot of criticism for his decision not to apologize for his actions, then apologize via Facebook (!), then finally call Roger Goodell on Sunday night and apologize for his actions on Thursday.

Suh isn't the only one who stands to lose money here ($164,000, to be exact). The Lions could also be a little lighter in their proverbial wallets. Freeman explains:

"League rules stipulate that when a player is suspended or fined, the amount of the fine, up to a maximum of $50,000 per infraction, counts towards a club's season total.

"If a team reaches $100,000 in fines the club must forfeit $50,000. If a team reaches $150,000, then it must forfeit an additional $25,000, and match any subsequent fine/suspension amounts for remainder of season.

So, bottom line, the Suh suspension put the Lions over that $100,000 season total. Lions players have already been fined at least that much this season so not only is that $100,000 mark already likely been reached, the next mark could be as well. The team fine would happen at the end of the season once all appeals and reductions are accounted for."

There's more (of course there is): a source close to the embattled defensive tackle tells Freeman that Suh has appealed his suspension. "Suh was urged, I'm told, by union and others that suspension was heavy handed and he should appeal. He officially has."

I think the Lions still need to get at least one O-Lineman in the offseason, even if they are better than they appear. They are also getting old at a couple of spots on that o-line. I think this is Raiola's 11th season, that is alot for a lineman, but he is still good, maybe the best they have.

I agree 100 percent.  I didn't mean to imply the Lions don't need help on the 0-line because they definitely do.  For the last 2 seasons before this year the Lions only ran the ball for 4 yards per carry, this year is their best in a while so far at 4.5 which is barely above average.. tied for 8th, but only .2 ahead of the team in the middle.   Still not good enough to get to the next level, that's for sure and nowhere near consistent enough.  We need at least one, maybe 2 more o-linemen signed in the next off season.  And we need that Leshore kid to be healthy and run like he did in college so that Best can get a few less carries and stay healthy.  He's a great weapon to have out of the backfield, but Best isn't an every down back... Leshoure can be though.

You are right about one thing this is the 1st time you have attempted to have a truce.I have apologized 3 or 4 times.

Ask Skillet I have tried to be a better member of the community,The thing that really pissed me off was that fake message
and all I ever wanted was an apology for that.

As promised I'm not holding anything against you that you typed as I offered my truce on my previous post.  Your post that I quoted above was over 15 minutes after mine, so it counts.   Once again, I'll leave it up to you whether or not you really want a truce.  To be honest this whole back and forth arguing thing is getting boring now... it's getting old and that's not what these boards are supposed to be for.

As for the apology you're looking for, you have said plenty wrong too.  I have never and will never ask for apologies for specific things and terrible things that you've said.  To be honest, I don't give a flying crap about anything you said about me..... none of that matters.

All that I ask is that we can finally talk sports.. not crap.  And another thing I ask for is honesty.  As an example when you provide me with a list of 23 people that have more sacks then Suh and all but one are linebackers and defensive ends, I have to assume you are comparing tackles to ends and linebackers.  When I say you believe Suh should have as many sacks as these people be honest enough to say "woops, I was wrong" or "woops, I forgot Suh is a tackle".  But when you mention 5 more times after that Suh only has 3 sacks that's not being honest with anybody.  Calling me an idiot for pointing that out isn't exactly the way to go.

When I pointed out that you talk about an athlete's toughness and don't give Stafford credit for playing through such a tough injury, you're response COULD BE "hey, I guess he's tougher then I thought" ... NOT..... that somebody else is playing with a broken thumb. A fractured index finger with a splint on a throwing hand is a whole lot tougher then a hurt thumb....

I read it as well, the entire thing. I had no idea the Lions had that many yards per carry, I guess maybe they just dont run alot?? Or is it the 2 good games by Best and Smith?

28 teams run the ball more times per game then the Lions do.  They fell behind in at least 4 or 5 of their games and couldn't run the ball as much as they planned on running the ball.   They quiety go about their business... they aren't consistently great running the ball, no they aren't.  Look at the Packers game.. they ran for something like 136 yards in 21 carries.. but they had to stop running when they fell behind big in the 3rd quarter.  Against the Bears they ran it pretty well but once again fell behind and had to abandon the running game.  Against Atlanta they only ran 20 times but for 100 yards....  in their home game against Chicago they dominated the line of scrimmage and best killed them.

Put it this way.  Morris hasn't had any massive games but he's still averaging 4.4 yards per carry.  Kevin Smith was tearing it up before he got hurt his only 2 games and looked good in the first quarter against the Packer.... and he's not very good.  The Lions o-line has been better then we give the credit for I think.....

Let's hope Stafford's finger is ok and we can avoid turnovers because if we do, we can beat anybody.

Steele,
I post an apology to you and this is what Redwings had to say,so instead of breaking my balls all the time. What does this post actually mean,he calls me all kinds of names,he tells lies, and then I should just let him do this???You accepted my humble apology and he had to chime in with this nonsense.

YOU refuse to talk sports.  From day 1 all you did was smash the Lions, smash the Tigers, smash their fans, smash the city of Detroit and you even went as far as smashing the people suffering in Detroit due to job losses, making fun of people in Detroit for not being able to afford things and for not having the success you supposedly have.  You've disrespected an entire city day after day.....

The day YOU decide you wanna talk sports, let me know.  I'm always game... you turned this into something personal when it was never supposed to go there.

This is my one and only and final attempt at a truce with you.

Any post you make while I type this I will forgive.  Any post within 15 minutes of me typing this I will forgive and assume you haven't read this post yet.

But any post 15 minutes after what I just typed counts....

Your call...... we can either talk sports or we can keep doing this.  I'll leave that up to you.
