As CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman noted earlier, Ndamukong Suh was suspended two games without pay by the NFL on Tuesday for his actions in Detroit's loss to Green Bay on Thanksgiving.

Suh received the suspension due to the fact that the incident in the Packers-Lions game was Suh's fifth on-field violation over the past two years, according to the NFL.

"NFL Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks notified Ndamukong Suh today that he has been suspended without pay for the Lions' next two games for his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Lions-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day," a statement from the NFL, obtained by Freeman, reads. "It was Suh's fifth violation of on-field rules in the past two seasons that has resulted in league discipline. Suh may not practice or be at the team practice facility for any other activities during the two-game suspension.

"He will be reinstated on December 12. Under the CBA, the suspension may be appealed within three business days. If appealed, an expedited hearing and decision would take place this week in advance of this weekend's games."

Suh drew a lot of criticism for his decision not to apologize for his actions, then apologize via Facebook (!), then finally call Roger Goodell on Sunday night and apologize for his actions on Thursday.

Suh isn't the only one who stands to lose money here ($164,000, to be exact). The Lions could also be a little lighter in their proverbial wallets. Freeman explains:

"League rules stipulate that when a player is suspended or fined, the amount of the fine, up to a maximum of $50,000 per infraction, counts towards a club's season total.

"If a team reaches $100,000 in fines the club must forfeit $50,000. If a team reaches $150,000, then it must forfeit an additional $25,000, and match any subsequent fine/suspension amounts for remainder of season.

So, bottom line, the Suh suspension put the Lions over that $100,000 season total. Lions players have already been fined at least that much this season so not only is that $100,000 mark already likely been reached, the next mark could be as well. The team fine would happen at the end of the season once all appeals and reductions are accounted for."

There's more (of course there is): a source close to the embattled defensive tackle tells Freeman that Suh has appealed his suspension. "Suh was urged, I'm told, by union and others that suspension was heavy handed and he should appeal. He officially has."

I just read it and found totaly insightful! Maybe now you should read it and try to offer a counter point...that's kinda how this thing works here!!

Calling someone an idiot is not making a point!!!

I read it as well, the entire thing. I had no idea the Lions had that many yards per carry, I guess maybe they just dont run alot?? Or is it the 2 good games by Best and Smith?

RSteele.  I guarantee you he read it, he has to read everything I type so he can smash it to pieces using zero facts and just crap. He'll never respond with anything insightful or even close to objective.  If I say black, he says white.  It's always opposite no matter what the topic is.  He'll say anything to make his point and will never back anything up with stats.

He told me Verlander on the Tigers sucks because he didn't wanna pitch on 3 days rest.  He said Verlander wasn't "tough enough".  Yet Stafford plays with a fractured index finger and a splint and glove on his throwing hand and all he talks about is interceptions.  You'd think somebody talking about how tough somebody should be would compliment the kid for playing.  He easily could have handed the ball to Shaun Hill, a pretty decent backup quarterback but instead DEMANDED HE PLAY..... that wasn't good enough.  And Steele, I quote Brian8ball when I say he called Stafford a "terrible qb", even before he started throwing int's with gloves on. He also told me Sanchez is a better qb then Stafford... he might be the only JETS FAN that thinks that on these boards....

He also told me Fister on the Tigers sucks because he didn't win games with no run support in Seattle.  He said wins mean everything. So when Verlander won 24 games, he said that doesn't count because he pitches in a bad division.

He said Verlander sucks because he had a bad post season.  He said CC is a "money pitcher" ...... well, I pointed out CC sucked much worse in the post season he said that didn't matter.

He told me Suh sucks because he only has 3 sacks.  He says defensive tackles should get as many sacks as defensive ends and linebackers.   He also said Suh isn't being double teamed..... it's always one on one.

He told me James Harrison's fines were only because Goodell doesn't like him and that he didn't even get flagged on 2 of his helmet to helmet hits.   He says Suh is dirty because his peers said so and voted him the dirtiest.  When I pointed out that Harrison was a close 2nd in 2010 for dirtiest player by his peers when he got those fines, 8ball had nothing to say.

The guy is UNREAL.... he says the craziest things.... I've never seen anything like it man.  He's literally impossible to talk sports with....

Wow...32 pages of comments. You'd think what Suh did was the worst thing that happened all year. The dude lost his temper, acted like an idiot, cost his team a TD over a field goal attempt, got thrown out, fined, and suspended.

I think the kick in the nuts was worse but hey, to each his own I suppose.

I will lay off the Lions a little but if you keep insulting me well then I will  just ignore you.

Rsteele.   Brian8ball will NEVER lay off the Lions, he comments on every single Lions thread there is and the comments are always the same.  "The Lions suck, the Lions never make the playoffs, the Lions this, the Lions that,,, that's all he does.

And no, he won't lay off you even if you stopped talking to him altogether.  I could put a list together of at least 30 or 40 people on CBS from the last 2 months alone that swear and yell at this fool because all he does is start trouble.

THAT IS WHY I pissed him off with that "fake private message" he's talking about.  I thought maybe, just MAYBE that would work and make that fool go away.

But instead all he does is follow me around.... thread after thread after thread after thread.....

He's the biggest loser on these boards by a mile.... it's not even close.

Roger Hitler, oops I mean ADOLF GOODELL is the worst commissioner ever in the history of sports. He makes Butt Selig look good.

The Fuhrer only suspends this idiot for 2 games for trying to break a guy's neck and then stomping on him.

What a joke.

Listen Steele I don't know what I did to piss you off and I really don't care if you want we can bury the Hatchet and start over.I mean I am trying to keep my comments related to sports, and even though you have insulted me and said childish things about my Mother who by the way died years ago,I am ok with banter.

Thats fine with me bro, but I will say that in all my years of coming here and posting I have never gone to another teams page and been an a$$hole just to piss off their fans! I do enjoy a little ribbing and some salty comments back and forth, but to just be a jacka$$ for the hell of it just makes people look uneducated and thats why I singled you out!

But hey, keep on topic and I'm all good...sorry about crackin on your mom too!
