As CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman noted earlier, Ndamukong Suh was suspended two games without pay by the NFL on Tuesday for his actions in Detroit's loss to Green Bay on Thanksgiving.

Suh received the suspension due to the fact that the incident in the Packers-Lions game was Suh's fifth on-field violation over the past two years, according to the NFL.

"NFL Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks notified Ndamukong Suh today that he has been suspended without pay for the Lions' next two games for his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Lions-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day," a statement from the NFL, obtained by Freeman, reads. "It was Suh's fifth violation of on-field rules in the past two seasons that has resulted in league discipline. Suh may not practice or be at the team practice facility for any other activities during the two-game suspension.

"He will be reinstated on December 12. Under the CBA, the suspension may be appealed within three business days. If appealed, an expedited hearing and decision would take place this week in advance of this weekend's games."

Suh drew a lot of criticism for his decision not to apologize for his actions, then apologize via Facebook (!), then finally call Roger Goodell on Sunday night and apologize for his actions on Thursday.

Suh isn't the only one who stands to lose money here ($164,000, to be exact). The Lions could also be a little lighter in their proverbial wallets. Freeman explains:

"League rules stipulate that when a player is suspended or fined, the amount of the fine, up to a maximum of $50,000 per infraction, counts towards a club's season total.

"If a team reaches $100,000 in fines the club must forfeit $50,000. If a team reaches $150,000, then it must forfeit an additional $25,000, and match any subsequent fine/suspension amounts for remainder of season.

So, bottom line, the Suh suspension put the Lions over that $100,000 season total. Lions players have already been fined at least that much this season so not only is that $100,000 mark already likely been reached, the next mark could be as well. The team fine would happen at the end of the season once all appeals and reductions are accounted for."

There's more (of course there is): a source close to the embattled defensive tackle tells Freeman that Suh has appealed his suspension. "Suh was urged, I'm told, by union and others that suspension was heavy handed and he should appeal. He officially has."

For years football has been trying to "TONE" down the violence...thasts like trying to tone down the impact a bullet has coming out of a gun...
Suh does not compare to Jack lambert, deacon jones, or mean joe green.

You want violent...were were these rules being in acted when they alowed blacks to play in white colleges in the early 60's. they were spit on stomped on and everything else...

Now its a big issue...wow..its football

i am actually liking hockey more love to see two white guye beat the crap out of each other...go Caps...    &nbs

There really is something wrong with that guy...... I've never met anybody like him in person or online or anywhere else.  The things you says are so out there it's not even funny.  And to make things worse he doesn't even know how to make his own argument.  He keeps saying Suh is brutal because he was voted the dirtiest player by his peers. But he says James Harrison isn't really dirty and that Goodell just hates him when in fact Harrison was a close second in 2010 for the dirtiest player award.  I could go on and on but I  won't... this briancrackball guy is flat out nuts !!!!

Well hey, he said adios...so just maybe he won't be back! AH, to good to be true...besides, I was starting to enjoy calling him a cornball everyday!!

Wipe your tears, go get a hug from your mom and feel free to come on back when you got some more moronic spew to add!!

I think he posts on CBS in between his lego construction business.   That's what he meant when he said he was in construction. Took me a while to figure it out but I think I finally have..... once in a while he piles them up to high and off balance and the legos fall. When that happens is when WE START TO GET CAPITAL LETTERS FOR ENTIRE POSTS.....  LOL

Morning Skillet,
I never said he was wrong for appealing the suspension.I was in the Local 3 electricians union and I understand the appeals process. What I said was do the suspension and move on HOPEFULLY in the right direction. And there are alot of people with degrees that are stupid, only a stupid person would do what he did and then make up that STUPID explanation afte the game. And it is not lie colleges don't give star players
a little help in getting those degree's. Now I don't want to get you mad Skillet like you told Redwings you have reported me and you are trying to get my acct banned. Why does that not surprise me.

Hey Brian,
I was talking to another guy that responded too you, that is why when I cut and pasted it said your name. I am just trying to get people to understand that Suh is not appealing anything, it is the union. Suh probably will just be a fly on the wall in the room while the delegates do all of the appealing, and they wont win anyways. They know they wont win this, but unions have to appeal things like this, it keeps the balance in the relationship with the NFL and the NFLPA.

Yes, when star players are in college they might get special treatment, BUT that special treatment would be to get him a degree in something easier than engineering IMO. What he did was VERY stupid, but that does not make him a stupid person. Smart people do stupid things everyday.

As far as reporting you, yes, I have in the past, and yes I show you a private message that I sent to Redwing that said what you stated. I also said that I you have changed since then.

And what the hell does it matter what he does off the field, alot of players donate their time and money and don't stomp on people.Little kids watch this guy and look up to him.So maybe the KNUCKLEHEAD should try leading by EXAMPLE

You are correct, and I pretty much said the same thing, I was just pointing out that he does good things as well. He actually went out of his way to help a High School in the Detroit area that had alot of equipment stolen. He another player (I think it was Burleson) got all new equipment when the school did not think they were going to have a season at all. I realize this has nothing to do with his action on the football field, I just wanted to point out that the guy does good things as well. If all you look at is the negatives it makes him out to be this monster that is just out to hurt people, that is not the case IMO. If he wanted to hurt people, I think more people would be hurt.

Suh lets his emotions get the best of him, he somehow got the idea that he was invicible. I hope this knocks him back to reality, I dont condone what he did, and I actually think the suspension should have been for thei season, given his record. The man got a huge contract at a young age, I couldnt even tell you how I would act if had $30 million garaunteed to me when I was in my early 20's. I did some stupid things and I was making something like $20,000/yr.

Man all of you all are jokes, probably not even played football other then on madden.  The NFL tells these guys to go out and kill each other then puts in rules that limit what the killing looks like on TV, and expects these guys to control their anger ssues at every play.

Every player out there is a dirty player they just have not been caught or it was incedental contact..

SUh is no exception, smart dumb whatever, he is a product of the football NFL regime.

Why do you think yuo are told to have your head on a swivel when yu are on the field , protect yourself at all times.

it is a violent sport and now because one of them stomped on another its wrong...

If you don'tlike the sport don't watch it..

I think it goes without saying that he has no credibility here...not to anyone with half a brain! You know why he posted a half an hour after my post this morning...his mom just got him outta bed for school! There is no way thats a grown man on the other side of those messages...or maybe like you say...retard!
