Brian Billick not interested in Jaguars job

On Tuesday, the Jaguars went and fired long-time coach Jack Del Rio. Around that time, we put together a list of potential candidates for the job in Jacksonville, with varying degrees of experience and success.

Well, we can already cross one guy off the list, as former Ravens coach Brian Billick, now an analyst with the NFL Network, isn't interested in the gig.

"They’re looking for young and cheap, and I'm neither," Billick said on the NFL Network Tuesday, via NFL.com.

It's a bit insulting, I guess, to assume to that the Jaguars will be "cheap," even if Billicks' correct. (And a bit, um, something to presume that Billick will command "not cheap" money, even if he does have a Super Bowl on his résumé.)

As we noted on the latest podcast, Billick is a sensible candidate for many teams, but he might not work for the Jaguars, who are more likely to go with a coordinator than a big-name head coach.

Shahid Khan is the new owner and presumably will have a hand in hiring the newest coach. (Would you buy a new Honda Civic and let your cousin drive it first? I didn't think so.) So there's a chance he starts slinging around cash.

The more likely scenario, though, is that the Jaguars look towards an up-and-coming coordinator. Given where that job stands in terms of stature and security, it's much more likely that Jacksonville can land someone looking for their first gig than an experienced name.

Hey Billick- what makes you think the jags would EVER consider you....Noone in this city even thinks that he would be a candidate and I would be VERY disappointed if they hired him so this comment atcually makes me happy- I want a young gun trying to make a name for himself rather than an over the hill commentary guy who hasnt worked an NFL day in almost a decade....we need a guy who is hungry not some guy just passing time.....so, you were NEVER invited here Billick just bc some website puts up names

This is the reason why Billick hasn't had any offers to be a HC...Arrogant as a mother!!!!For a Offense Genius, he didn't do anything in Baltimore...If I were JAX, I'd hope that Philly is dumb enough to let go of Andy Reid... This guy knows how to win n the right ppl to draft n cut nhire to make you a contender in a soft Division...If anyone other than Bill parcells has a better idea, then say it instead of crying about not wining anything the last 10 years. Dumbest thing they did was to get rid of Couglin   . They prob will get another chance at him since the G-Men stink this year and he will be likely to be fired thid year!!!ANDY REID!!!!!REMEMBER THAT NAME JAG FANS!!!

Brian Billick not interested in Jaguars job

Please, Billick really has a high opinion of himself. Supposed offensive guru who won the SB with an offense that could barely score 10 points per game in the regular season that year. Then this dolt goes and replaces his SB winning Qb with Elvis Grbac and can't make it work, then this supposed genius drafts Kyle Boller and stinks up the league. In the words of Jerry Jones, "500 other coaches could have won the SB that year, with that defense". Billick is nothing special, average coach, super-sized ego.

Though it’s not clear who the next coach of the Jaguars will be, it’s safe to say the next coach will have no offers to coach other NFL teams.
