Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses'

Did you think Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow had taken over every possible aspect of your life? You were wrong -- Republican Presidential candidate and current Texas Governor Rick Perry said during the Republican debates Thursday that he wants to be the "Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses."

Tebow Saturation

No, really. This happened; Perry was attempting to point out that he's not a great debater (he's, um, not) but that he was getting the hand of things and he was ready to make a comeback.

"There are a lot of folks that said Tim Tebow wasn't going to be a very good NFL quarterback," Perry said on Fox News Thursday. "There are people that stood up and said well, he doesn't have the right throwing mechanisms, or he doesn't -- you know, he is not playing the game right. You know, he won two national championships, and that looked pretty good."

"We're the national champions in job creation back in Texas. But am i ready for the next level? Let me tell you -- I hope I am the Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses."

It's impressive that Perry's desperate wily enough to bust out a pop-culture reference in order to cull points with voters and try and make himself look cool and stuff. But if this works, watch out, because next thing you know he'll be the "Justin Beiber of New Hampshire" too.

Unfortunately, he obviously hasn't learned the lessons involved with Tebow: it's not about "not being a pretty football player." It's about having a great group of players around him, never saying things that are even remotely controversial and not forgetting basic facts.

Also, it's mechanics. Not "mechanisms."

Whatever, it's entirely likely that Perry will need a ridiculous late-game comeback to nail the Republican nomination, so maybe it's an appropriate analogy after all.

Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses'

Hey flaggator, having a Bbile verse on your cheek does not count as thumping. Its what he stands for. no different than a muslim wrapped in a scarf at the mall, or a satanist wearing a pentagram on their shirt. They're not saying "accept my religion." They're saying this is what I believe. If you take it personal, that's your issue. BTW, happiness is based on circumstances, which in the end is an opinion about things that make you feel good. Feelings are no indicator of current conditions. Ask any one who's ever had cancer.

REgarding hellscape, that is also your opinion. If you're right about no hell, then you, hitler, mussolini, and millions of others have lost nothing. But if you're wrong, you've lost everything.

Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses'

Hey, great idea Rick! ...Except why don't we just vote for Tim Tebow to get the nomination? At least he can speak coherently. (and is past a 3rd grade reading level)

Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses'

The last sentence of this article pretty much sums it up. The big reason why Perry wants to be like Tebow is because he desperately needs some sort of unbelievable late comeback if he wants to have any chance at the nomination at all.

Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses' Hey Pimpslapped---actaully Tim doesn't do any Bible thumping at all. He lets his character speak for his beliefs. Isn't that really what we want of all Christians? Less thumping and more walking the talk. if you're feeling a pinch of conviction maybe its not Tim that's giving it to you. FYI. Umm, painting bible verses on your face is bible thumping. I have no problem with Tim. He lives in a free society and I respect the fact that I haven't heard a condescending or exlusionary righteous word out of his mouth. I don't think he quite gets the target he paints on himself for some of his antics, but it's his choice, but I think he'll get it some day. The problem I don't have with Tim is the problem I have with you and most Christians (because your taught this way). Your projection of my "conviction" or inner emptiness, soulessness and lack of joy, without old JC in my life. I experience no void and am quite happy without him and would be even happier if you wouldn't tell me I did. Se lavie? One more thing. There is a large difference between character and beliefs. Tim has a lot of good moral character and a strong belief in a certain angle while Ghandi did as well. The only difference is that Ghandi's didn't tell you that you would spend eternity in a made up hellscape if you didn't beleive the same way. He has a terrible delivery and thinks God is rooting for him.

Sounds like Tebow to me.
BIG Differences:
- Tebow tells the truth
- tebow WINS and Perry is a loser

The majority of the jobs Perry "created" in Texas are in government or municipalities.  Look up the numbers.  Pretty sure he's a big proponent of small government when it suits him.

Tebow's great for the sport, Perry is not great for our country.  But in the end neither one will win in the early round, never mind the big one.

Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses'

I agree with Rick Perry.   He is a man of limited talents, is way out of his league and has zero chance of winning the big one.
