Coughlin on Rex: 'Talk is cheap, play the game'

Breaking news: Rex Ryan likes to talk about the Jets and how dangerous they are. On Monday, he made sure that the world knows, in advance of a Christmas Eve New York matchup, that while the Giants are an "excellent" team, "I think we're better."

Giants coach Tom Coughlin was asked about Ryan's comments during his Wednesday press conference, and his response was, well, what you'd expect out of Coughlin -- he thinks "talk is cheap."

"I just say, regardless of the talk, it will be decided at one o’clock Saturday afternoon," Coughlin said. "Regardless of what is said. Talk is cheap, play the game."

Coughlin appeared pretty exasperated at his presser, and it's hard to blame him. The Giants breathed new life into their season by taking down the Cowboys two weeks ago, and then turned right back around and tried to kill it off again with a devastating loss to Washington on Sunday.

This Saturday, they're in a full-on elimination match, as a loss would put them at 7-8. Even if the Cowboys lost out, the Eagles (who play Dallas on Saturday) would win the NFC East tiebreaker.

Coughlin knows that, and he's fully aware that engaging in a public war of words won't do his team any good, even though he might use Ryan's willingness to talk to his advantage.

"Perhaps," Coughlin said when asked if he'd used the Jets talk to motivate his team.

And guys, you're completely wasting your time with brian8troll. He is one of the most illogical, unreasonable and disrespectful posters on these boards.

You're not joking. He follows me around from thread to thread almost every single day just to talk crap.... he really has to go.  He's as useless as they come.

If I were a Jets fan, I'd lower standards (which, if you're a Jets fan, one could argue you already have) and take what I could get, too.

Answer the QUESTION.HOW MANY PLAYOFF GAMES HAVE THE PATS  SINCE THE WERE CAUGHT CHEATING.

Moron.  Brady got hurt the next year and then the Pats started doing a little re-tooling/rebuilding.  They still manage to make the playoffs as they re-tool, they'll be just fine.

Worry about your Jets who have won as many superbowls in the last 30 years as the Lions that you smash on a daily basis... zero.

Don't tell me about the Jets playoff wins either because I can copy and paste baseball posts you made saying playoff wins mean nothing, only championships.  Funny when you're talking about the Yankees championships only matter and playoff series victories others get don't matter.  But when you're talking about the Jets playoff wins in fact do matter and championships aren't as big a deal.

Moron.

Would you rather have a coach like The Lion's do,Jim Schwartz who has gotten Suh,Stafford and Megatron the last 3 years and has still not even made the Playoffs

Why do people even respond to this Brian8ball idiot?  I know I'm responding as well... but WOW is all I have to say.  This new management team including Schwartz took over a winless team that Matt Millen drove into the ground for a long time.

By the way moron, this is Stafford's first full season, he played 3 games last year and other then that only had a 10 game rookie year.

Suh? Sorry man, not his 3rd year either.

You're saying a new coach with a rookie qb and a team coming off a winless season should have made the playoffs in his first 2 years? Making it in this 3rd season this year like they're about to do since being winless isn't good?

Moron. Get off these boards.  Brian8ball is the same guy that said if a defensive TACKLE is great he should have more sacks then defensive ENDS and linebackers.  Seriously, he said that.  He listed about 25 players with more sacks with Suh with only one tackle on the list and told us Suh is a terrible player because he doesn't get as many sacks at the tackle position.

Hey we have a quarterback and you don't - keep crying my friend.

I don't recall Brady crying but I did see him being pis*ed off about losing - don't confuse the two.  You will see both this weekend when the Giants, and Eli Manning, consume the Jets.  I'm looking forward to this game.  I like the NY rivalry in NY.

It's funny how others aggressively go after the successful based on their own inadequecies.

Sanchez has a lot to learn and not under that bafoon of a coach.  You may like his bluster but good luck when you are eliminated from the playoffs this weekend.  I choose Cindy - a real QB!
