Coughlin on Rex: 'Talk is cheap, play the game'

Breaking news: Rex Ryan likes to talk about the Jets and how dangerous they are. On Monday, he made sure that the world knows, in advance of a Christmas Eve New York matchup, that while the Giants are an "excellent" team, "I think we're better."

Giants coach Tom Coughlin was asked about Ryan's comments during his Wednesday press conference, and his response was, well, what you'd expect out of Coughlin -- he thinks "talk is cheap."

"I just say, regardless of the talk, it will be decided at one o’clock Saturday afternoon," Coughlin said. "Regardless of what is said. Talk is cheap, play the game."

Coughlin appeared pretty exasperated at his presser, and it's hard to blame him. The Giants breathed new life into their season by taking down the Cowboys two weeks ago, and then turned right back around and tried to kill it off again with a devastating loss to Washington on Sunday.

This Saturday, they're in a full-on elimination match, as a loss would put them at 7-8. Even if the Cowboys lost out, the Eagles (who play Dallas on Saturday) would win the NFC East tiebreaker.

Coughlin knows that, and he's fully aware that engaging in a public war of words won't do his team any good, even though he might use Ryan's willingness to talk to his advantage.

"Perhaps," Coughlin said when asked if he'd used the Jets talk to motivate his team.

Coughlin on Rex: 'Talk is cheap, play the game'

LOL spygate - get a life loser

Look at the other teams, including the Jets, that used this.  You are a moron holding onto the past and apparantly have no clue.

Typical POS NY fan (not including Giant fans here) - the Jets are a low level POS organization that continues to show their ignorance through the owners, the COACH, and you the fan.

Go back into the hole that you came out of.

"Cindy Brady" nice

Can't wait to see Sanchez dancing this Saturday - GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coughlin on Rex: 'Talk is cheap, play the game'

Admitted to cheating - give it up will you.  Read a few columns from former coaches and players to understand what was going on.  Your team and the rest of the league was doing it for that same year, and all years previous.  What a joke.  I suppose you are also a 9-11 truther?

Like I said, the Jets beat us and so be it, and we lost terribly in the first round the past couple of years.  So what?
I still don't see Joe Namath out there - is Sanchez the new Namath?  Granted he has won playoff games but get back to me when he wins the big one - ok?

Get off this cheating thing it only makes you look more and more like a Jets fan.

You have to love the yah hoo's that bring this up every time.  Yeah Brady Suc*s of course right brian8ball (nice name freako).

Hang on to that Sanchez has won 4 road playoff games because that may come to an end soon if you don't win this year - the Jets are in decline and your coach is obnoxious just like the fans.  I like the Giant fans and have no problem that we lost to them in the Super Bowl.  The Jets fans on the other hand are crass and obnoxious and can't hold a candle to the Giants.  I can't wait to see the Giants kick their A** this weekend!!!!

Go PATS!  Go GIANTS!

Correction, Brian, I'd love to see the Jets in the playoffs....the only teams I feel New England so fear are Pittsburgh and Baltimore in the AFC.  Back in the early 2000s, I don't think anyone consisted Brady the "Best QB"...even with back to back Superbowls....he was more of a game manager....it wasn't until 2007 that many people in the NFL would consider him in the top 2 or 3.  In regard to Rex Ryan, I consider him a decent coach...a great defensive coach but lacks a little when it comes to the offensive side of the ball.  The ground and pound attack doesn't work in the NFL of today and wasn't Rex who wanted Sanchez as their quarterback....thought they moved up to sixth with Cleveland's pick to take him.
