Breaking news: Rex Ryan likes to talk about the Jets and how dangerous they are. On Monday, he made sure that the world knows, in advance of a Christmas Eve New York matchup, that while the Giants are an "excellent" team, "I think we're better."

Giants coach Tom Coughlin was asked about Ryan's comments during his Wednesday press conference, and his response was, well, what you'd expect out of Coughlin -- he thinks "talk is cheap."

"I just say, regardless of the talk, it will be decided at one o’clock Saturday afternoon," Coughlin said. "Regardless of what is said. Talk is cheap, play the game."

Coughlin appeared pretty exasperated at his presser, and it's hard to blame him. The Giants breathed new life into their season by taking down the Cowboys two weeks ago, and then turned right back around and tried to kill it off again with a devastating loss to Washington on Sunday.

This Saturday, they're in a full-on elimination match, as a loss would put them at 7-8. Even if the Cowboys lost out, the Eagles (who play Dallas on Saturday) would win the NFC East tiebreaker.

Coughlin knows that, and he's fully aware that engaging in a public war of words won't do his team any good, even though he might use Ryan's willingness to talk to his advantage.

"Perhaps," Coughlin said when asked if he'd used the Jets talk to motivate his team.

If G-men don't beat Jets, I like Philly to make it in.

Somewhat off topic; Those 2 Eagles fans last week that dressed in left and right foot costumes were hilarious. Philly fans get grief for the outlier psychos, those guys made up for it and then some IMO. Well played.

What he says, and what you said about the Eagles winning the tiebreaker is accurate.  The Eagles would win the division if they, New York and Dallas all finished 8-8.  Dallas would be eliminated on the basis of both teams sweeping them, then the Eagles get the nod on the basis of a better division record.

What I don't understand is how Rex Christie has the time to coach the Jets AND be the Governor of New Jersey.  Wait...you're telling me that Chris Ryan and him are two different people?  How can that be?  NJ is a small state...is there really room for 2 pompous fat windbags like them?  Personally, I'm not sure there is room for either.

Even if the Cowboys lost out, the (who play Dallas on Saturday) would win the NFC East tiebreaker.
Does this sentence confuse anyone but me? Who would win the tiebreaker? The Eagles? Because if the Cowboys lost out, that would make them 8-8, which would mean that even if the Giants lost on Sunday, they would beat the Cowboys to go back to 8-8 (that's with the Cowboys losing the rest of their games). If that were the case, the Giants would win the head to head tie breaker and win the division. So, how would Cowboys win the tiebreaker if they lose out because one of those losses would be to the Giants. If he meant the Eagles would win the tiebreaker that would make sense given their division record, but the Eagles would have to win out and the Giants would have to beat the Cowboys and lose to the Jets for that to happen.

The problem with your arguement is that big mouth talks like he has been a head coach

who has won multiple bowls. When he wins one then he can talk. Until then shut up.

I want to take a look at this organization in 3 years and then I guess we'll see. The Jets are a pretty dispicable organization and will do whatever it takes to get there but will they?  I still think that they are perennial doormats until they finally win something - like Coughlin said 'Talk is cheap' - and yes it is!

I am so tired of that firehat waving moron that probably bothers everyone in that section with his idiocy.  While I admire ALL NY firefighters I despise this moronic chant every game with fire hat charlie saying J-E-T-S === please send him to Philly the next time the Jets play Philly and I'm sure he'll be a wet blanket db
