Jerome Simpson's TD jump: Play of the year?

Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson's gained notoriety for some, ahem, less than smart things, legally speaking.

But on Sunday against Arizona, Simpson nearly broke the internet with a ridiculous touchdown leap, jumping over linebacker Daryl Washington.

OK, jumping is actually an insult -- Simpson scored on a leap that would net him a gold in about six Olympic events, jumping 50 feet* in the air and 100 yards* horizontally before landing on his feet in the end zone.

The best part was that he scored when his team needed it. But the second best thing about the leap is if you get the correct angle you can see the look in the refs eyes like did i just see what it thought i saw. lol

This kind of exceptionally athletic and extraordinary play and effort by Jerome Simpson is exactly why people pay good money and spend a lot of time watching sports and the NFL in particular.

The amazing thing about this leap is that Washington is 6'2 and he was leaping in the air before he touch Simpson.  So he did a leap of 6'5 or so.  I was at the game and sometimes a play like this can get a team, better yet the fan excited about watching the game.

Showboating?! That was leap was absolutely necessary to score the touchdown for the Cincinnati Bengals. And now we have judges from the Olympics handing out scores because he did not land flawlessly. That just further proves that haters gonna hate no matter what. That leap by Jerome Simpson over Daryl Washington was definitely the play of the year. It will be replayed several dozen times by every television affiliate between now and the end of the year. It is now time to nominate that play for Play of the Decade awards. That is how awesome it was in my opinion.

I wish everyone would QUIT saying he stuck the landing because he didn't!  He put a hand down and then he hopped for a 3 tenths reduction. 9.7 TOPS!
