Terrell Owens to join the IFL's Allen Wranglers?

OwensBy Josh Katzowitz

Just how low is Terrell Owens willing to go in order to play pro football? Pretty damn low, apparently.

According to the official team website, Owens is close to signing a deal to play with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League*.

*Whatever the hell that is.

As you should know, Owens hasn’t played since he led the Bengals in receiving in 2010, but he’s remained active (you know, recovering from an ACL tear, getting an arrest warrant issued for supposedly failing to pay child support, having various other money problems, NOT trying to commit suicide, and NOT having NFL teams call).

TO's Problems
But Owens apparently is still jonesing to play football, and he’s willing to play in the very minor leagues in order to possibly pique the interest of an NFL team. Either that, or his money problems are very bad indeed.

Players earn $225 per game in the IFL, and they get a bonus for winning. But Allen** says Owens could earn a compensation package between $250,000-$500,000 (!) if he elects to play.

**Major points to you if you knew where the Wranglers are located. I had to look it up, and the answer is Allen, Texas, not too far north of Dallas.

The Wranglers season begins in February, so if Owens actually signs the deal, it’ll have to be relatively soon.

"I'm sure Cowboys fans and all football fans in the area would love to T.O. back." Wranglers coach Patrick Pimmel said. "Terrell would be a great addition to our organization and I hope we can make this happen."

I'm not pretending that T.O. has been an angel his entire life but to pretend you are an objective and professional sportswriter and yet you seemingly relish in another man's disgrace. Well, that not only makes you an amateur it also makes you a hypocrite.

T.O. now stands for TOO OLD!!  Owens your mouth may still work fine (that is debatable) but it is time to move on.  You do no NFL franchise any good anymore, those days are LONG gone!  Perhaps you should be sitting with Deion Sanders and Company on the NFL today show.  Actually Sanders is pretty darn good at what he does now and he knew when to hang them up.  So should you and that Ochi "I can't play anymore" Cinco as well.  Cinco better hope New England lucks out and maybe wins a Super Bowl this year as Belichick will not keep Chad around next year I guarantee it.  Chad has no where near the work ethic Corey Dillon had.  Owens wanting to play again anywhere is only a ploy to sell tickets.  It's as ridiculous as Tiki Barber trying to play again.  Okay, next joke.....

Trying to decide if this article by Katzowitz is more of a beatdown of TO or a slap in the face to the players of the IFL with his "Whatever the hell that is" attitude. I'll bet that even though the talent isn't NFL level, those guys making $225 a game are busting their butts to do something they love.

Good for T.O.! Maybe he really needs money to support his kid, or maybe he just loves football. I admire him for being willing to work for money, just as I do anyone else who does honest labor.

Good for him!  This just shows he's not about the money and it's all about his love for the game.  Terrell was never charged with any crimes or got into any drug problems, but people still feel to bash him like he's a menace to the league.  All he ever did was speak his mind and didn't like losing. If there is anyone to blame it would be the coaches and management for blaming him for all their team losses and using him as a scape goat.  When T.O. stepped out on the field he gave his all and never i repeat NEVER quit on his team like that chump Randy Moss did to multiple teams. I mean this is the same guy who come back from a broken leg and played in the Super Bowl and almost won it for the Eagles! Also if the Cowboys defense would have just stopped the Giants in '07 and Tony Romo didn't go on a Vacation to Mexico with Jessica Simpson the week before this big game then maybe yall would have been in the Super Bowl against the Patriots and there wouldn't be any talk about ditching Terrell.  He is still without a doubt one of the greatest receivers in the league and could be a number one or the very least a number two receiver for multiple teams.  Tell me the Titans or the Jaguars couldn't have used this guy this year.  Like Terrell always says "Yall love to hate me, but I'm still going to shine"!!!

This is just SAD!  I was NEVER a fan of T.O. but for the guy who has the 2nd most receiving yards in NFL HISTORY, this is just awful and embarassing.  An appearance in a league like this would have to hurt his chances of getting in Canton.  How could they take him seriously?  Why can't some players just ride off into the sunset with a little dignity left.

Can anyone tell me why I should care about Terrell Owens playing in some backwater league? I mean the guy is cancer for any NFL team...check his "wore out my welcome" credentials with the 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Bills and Bengals. I do have to admit, he was reasonably effective for the Bengals, and for the Cowboys at one time...he's just another one of those me first guys who ruins team chemistry.

If CBS sports would ignore him, he might just go away.

His circus career looks like it's upon him. If he chooses to play indoor football he would be in good enough shape after the season to box, oh, say a Bear or Hulk Hogan. There are so many options out there for him now that he is in this phase of his career! How about "Fear Factor", it's back on and Joe Rogan might help him get on the "Ultimate Fighter" where he and Herschel Walker could be coaches. Really, the choices are endless but his crowning achievement would be a cameo in "Hangover 3" replacing Tyson... if they ever make it?!
