RG3 says he'll decide on the draft "pretty soon." (AP)
By Will Brinson

Robert Griffin III, the second-rated quarterback on Rob Rang's big board, recently said he would make a decision about entering the NFL Draft "pretty soon." Many believed that was code for "already gone," and a report Sunday indicates that RG3 to the NFL is a done deal.

2012 NFL Draft

That's according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, who reports that Griffin's already made up his mind to take the leap to the pros and that's it's simply a matter of semantics before he's being moved around on 2012 NFL Mock Draft boards sans the little underclassman asterisk.

Mort apparently spoke to Griffin's father, Robert Junior, who told him that RG3's decision would be known "when Robert makes this official and selects the right agent to represent him."

So either RGJR (not as catchy, I know) was saying that his son is going pro or, more likely, he slipped up and was trying to say that RG3's going to make a decision and framed the part about the agent incorrectly.

Whatever, this just makes sense. RG3 won the Heisman, he's a coveted prospect, a hot name and easily the No. 2 quarterback on everyone's draft board. And, apparently, he's also highly coveted by the Colts.

Indy, it's been assumed, will just take Andrew Luck. But they could still beat the Jaguars and end up with the No. 2 pick in the draft. If that's the case, Mort reports the Colts are ready to make RG3 their quarterback of the future if they end up falling out of the top pick.

That's a nightmare scenario for the Browns, Dolphins, Redskins, and any other team who's quarterback needy, since the Rams will get to fire up a full-on bidding war for the top pick in the draft.

rg3 sure is a good athlete. of couse he wants to play qb, but his playng time and length inthe nfl, could be at another position. densev is in need of an option qb. each of their carers would last 2 as long. rg3 is somuch fter, once the offensive line gets used to option blocking for tebow, they could bring in rg3. that speed would show.

It's always going to be difficult to predict success for QB's aspiring to play in the NFL. Several variables to factor in...what team drafts you, what offensive system they run, how soon you're asked to start, etc...

That said, it's hard not to root for guys like Robert Griffin. A great college player and a great person. And based on what we saw this season, I wouldn't bet against him.

I've got 2 questions for you:
1. Where does RG3 rank in completion % in the NCAA?
2. When/if you watched him play did he dink and dunk or throw the ball downfield?

Please research

I don't think he is accurate enough yet to be an elite NFL qb but he has all the tools to be effective qb at the next level.  Keep in mind he CAN still improve his accuracy as many qbs have, and I think he's even better than Cam Newton was so he made a great decision.  His stock will never be higher.

My biggest concerns for RG3 is 1) His Size?  How tall is he really and how much does he weigh...not what he's listed at but what he will measure at the combines.  2)  Has he been hit to much?  Could have said the same thing about Newton last year but RG3 a little more injury prone then Newton.  3) Does system or talent take over?   Is he a product of the style of offense Baylor plays vs. the Style Stanford plays a open/high octane, high risk high reward system or the pro style...probably a combination really ultimately everything from RG3 and Luck both being stars to both being busts could happen...we won't know until 2012.  For my take the Chiefs need you BADLY Mr. The Third and I hope we trade up to get you with the Rams having the first overall pick moving up might not cost as much as it would have with the Colts.   So I say RG3 is definitely worth moving up for, for me if it means my Chiefs drafting him.

Not many outside of Baylor country knew anything of RG3 until the heisman award ceremony.  Here's another african-american, running, college style quarterback who put up incredible numbers this year, but will probably struggle at the pro level.  This is the perception myself and many had of RG3 until the day he got to speak to the world.  All the way up until he got to speak I was thinking this, then, what is this, hmm, wow, I was blown away.  I don't believe I ever heard a college athlete give a better acceptance speech in my entire life than this guy did after winning the heisman.  Right then and there I watched a collection of his highlights from the season and was in awe of some of the things he was doing.  I believe that speech, and the intelligence behind it, along with his athletic ability is gonna get this kid millions more than he would've gotten had he not given that acceptance speech.  Right then and there I knew this kid's stock was only going to rise, and would not be surprised if he turns a better pro career than Andrew Luck.

I was hoping to see him be the second player named Griffin to win two Heismans.

Andrew Luck will be a bust and his stock is dropping.  Inside news has RG3 going #1 and that is why he is coming out!

The real question now is will it be the Rams or Vikings who trade their first round pick so someone can jump up and take RG3.  I think the Rams have to take Kalil to protect their young QB.  So, the Vikes should be in perfect position to sell the 3rd pick for a high price.  In the end, no one knows who will be a star or a bust.  Fans, just enjoy the speculation.  Hope springs eternal for all NFL fans on the day DRAFT WEEKEND.
