RG3 says he'll decide on the draft "pretty soon." (AP)
By Will Brinson

Robert Griffin III, the second-rated quarterback on Rob Rang's big board, recently said he would make a decision about entering the NFL Draft "pretty soon." Many believed that was code for "already gone," and a report Sunday indicates that RG3 to the NFL is a done deal.

2012 NFL Draft

That's according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, who reports that Griffin's already made up his mind to take the leap to the pros and that's it's simply a matter of semantics before he's being moved around on 2012 NFL Mock Draft boards sans the little underclassman asterisk.

Mort apparently spoke to Griffin's father, Robert Junior, who told him that RG3's decision would be known "when Robert makes this official and selects the right agent to represent him."

So either RGJR (not as catchy, I know) was saying that his son is going pro or, more likely, he slipped up and was trying to say that RG3's going to make a decision and framed the part about the agent incorrectly.

Whatever, this just makes sense. RG3 won the Heisman, he's a coveted prospect, a hot name and easily the No. 2 quarterback on everyone's draft board. And, apparently, he's also highly coveted by the Colts.

Indy, it's been assumed, will just take Andrew Luck. But they could still beat the Jaguars and end up with the No. 2 pick in the draft. If that's the case, Mort reports the Colts are ready to make RG3 their quarterback of the future if they end up falling out of the top pick.

That's a nightmare scenario for the Browns, Dolphins, Redskins, and any other team who's quarterback needy, since the Rams will get to fire up a full-on bidding war for the top pick in the draft.

There is nothing else for him to accomplish.  Trust me on this, if he were to return (depending on other Bears returning) they would be 6-6 to 8-4.  They caught OK, Texas, etc on down years, those programs will bounce back, the athletes at the other schools will come thru next year and Baylor would not run for more than a top 25.  As other posters have stated, nothing else to come back for.

Considering that Baylor recklessly played Griffin against Texas Tech this season after Griffin had suffered a hit that knocked him unconscious earlier in the game, I wouldn't blame RG3 in the slightest if he jumped to the pro level. He's NFL ready.

Someone tells me this kid's got his degree and alm ost a master's as a junior. That's a smart dude. The Akili Smith comment is noted, but what else is there for him in college? Win another Heisman? He won't win the SEC, he won't get the BCS, he may get the Alamo Bowl again. Beside's he's gotta be better than some of these lower rung replacements. The NFL's in a generational change. Some of these QB's gotta have some talent.

When does being the Heisman winner have anything to do with where a player will be drafted.  Troy Smith (2006 - OSU QB) won the Heisman and prompty went in the 5th round of the NFL draft.  Just because the guy has that hardware doesn't automatically make him a top 5 pick.

Great news and great timing RGIII.  Needs to put on a few pounds but definitely a 1st-rounder.

Smartest move he could ever make.  His draft stock will never be higher than it is right now

Sorry to burst everybody's bubble, but out of the top 4 or so QBs in the draft RG3 is the one that will be a bust. I see him as the next Akili Smith. Great in college, flop in Pros.
