DeSean Jackson apologizes for actions this year

By Josh Katzowitz

DeSean Jackson had a forgettable season, and for that, he’s sorry. He regrets the way he acted when he so desperately wanted a contract extension, and he’s also sorry that it affected the way he played this season.

“I can admit to certain things affecting me during the season. I just kind of want to apologize or whatever the case may be,” Jackson said, via CSN Philly. “I probably could have handled it a little different, but now sitting here after the season’s over, I can just say I was able to put it behind me and really just fight for my teammates. Fight for this organization -- just really knowing something good out of this situation was going to happen. I was able to finally get to that and just move forward. We’ll see how it plays out.”

DeSean's forgettable season
Considering Jackson is a free agent and is coming off the worst season since his rookie year in 2008, it’s a good idea for the mea culpa. Because there were times when Jackson appeared like he wasn’t giving his best effort as the Eagles Dream Team season transformed into a frustrating year for everybody in the Philadelphia organization.

Jackson was asked if it’d be OK for the Eagles to place the franchise tag on him, and he said, “Why wouldn’t it? Hey, it’d be all right. God’s got a plan, brother. I’m going to roll with it.”

True, Jackson was underpaid this season at $600,000, but he held out during training camp and got benched in Week 9 as the Eagles were losing to the Cardinals. Basically, he just wasn’t a good teammate.

“I shouldn’t have allowed it to happen early on -- but I was able to finish strong, and that’s all that really matters,” Jackson said. “I did that. I’ve got my head coach, my offensive coordinator, my teammates, the owners, the whole organization behind me, so it’s not how you start. It’s how you finish.”

And, Jackson hopes, how sincerely you apologize.

DeSean Jackson apologizes for actions this year

Personally I hope we have seen the last of DJax, and we welcome VJax. Vincent Jackson come on down! Ever since Harold Charmichael retired in th 80's the wide receiving core has missed a giant that can catch. I would love to see the Eagles invest in a huge wide receiver with soft hands. Maclin is going to be the guy that the Eagles save their money for. We are going to see way more from this young stud. Could you imagine Vjax and Maclin though? Talk about thunder and lightning. Come on free agency!Laughing

DeSean Jackson apologizes for actions this year

This is the first time I have ever commented on anything online but I had to finally do it because I am sick to my stomach to think that this QUITTER Jackson believes that a FALSE apology can make up for 16 games of letting down his team, his organization, and his "use to be fans". This guy is a disgrace!

I think if the Eagles do anything for Jackson, they should also consider the hard work that Jason Avant did, in Jackson's absence. He took on two and three tacklers at a time across the middle and made huge sacrifices for the team trying to advance the ball. Jackson is a good big playmaker, but Avant grinds it out and doesn't showboat, slapping his chest and taunting the other team when he makes a routine play. Jackson could learn a lot from Jason. I have a lot of respect for the wide receivers who gave it all for the team this year.

DeSean Jackson apologizes for actions this year

An apology should be directed to a person or party, not saying "whatever the case may be." DeSean should learn how to publicly speak before opening his mouth. Right now he is doing damage control, and not very good at it. I have been a DJ fan since they got him, and am very disappointed in his actions this year. Whoever is giving advice to him, needs to step back and let DJ think for himself, and understand what he is doing. His apology didn't amount to much. Let's see what happens next. "Now he can put it behind him," hmmmmm, guess there is not much else he can do on the field to help his case. Haha

Jackson showed what he is capable of when he spiked the ball before getting into the endzone on what should have been his first touchdown as a rookie. $600,000 is a lot of money. I'm sure he received a signing bonus. What was he paid over the life of his entire contract? I bet if he would've just played he would have a new contract.

If you ever watched Larry Fitzgerald play, you see a true professional. He plays hard, plays to win and doesn't need to showboat because hisplay speaks for him. You want Larry Fitzgerald money? Act like him!
