FisherBy Josh Katzowitz

Earlier this month, Jeff Fisher’s agent said his client would listen to anyone who might be interested in speaking to him about a coaching vacancy.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, the first team to show interest is the Rams, who will interview Fisher for the job this week. King writes that he expects the organization to go after Fisher and then try to find a new general manager.

Clearly, the Rams are moving on quickly after firing coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney today, and as CBSSports.com’s Will Brinson pointed out in his list of possible replacements, Fisher has to be one of the organization’s top choices.

Mike Freeman reported today that Fisher would have interest in the Colts or Buccaneers jobs but that he wouldn’t participate in mass interviews and that he would he “likely only interview with one or two teams. Possibly three.”

So, if he’s interviewing with the Rams, he clearly has interest, and with a franchise quarterback in Sam Bradford and defensive corps that has nice pieces, the Rams seem to have a pretty good chance at landing one of the most sought-after coaches in this offseason.

Fisher is fiercely loyal to his players and builds a good team chemistry. His only problem was dealing with Vince Young who thought he was much better than he obviously is since he's still a backup in Philadelphia. Young deserved to be thrown under the bus. AN NFL team is no place for petulant would-be superstars witha lousy work ethic and a lack of team loyalty, which attributes which Vince Young had. All Fisher did was call him out.

Fisher will be a good hire for a team. My gut says he lands in Miami.

Report: Fisher will interview for Rams job

Fisher did a great job overseeing an organization, building a team that has talent, is physically sound and is well coached. Fisher's problem has always been managing the big game. He can and will destroy lesser talented teams, but when it comes to matching wits is a chess match that he does not have a definitive advantage, bet the house on the other team. He will serve any team well building them back to respectability, however, he won't win any championships.

Well, as a Rams fan this is the type of coach we need, although other coaching vets may be better.  If he brings in someone like Todd Granthum as his D-Coordinator, Jim Caldwell as QB Coach (yes he was Peyton's for many growing years...and assuming he is ultimatly fired), and bring in Mike Sherman as O-Coordinator.

Fisher and Granthum will make a great pair of D-minded coaches.  Caldwell and Sherman have both had success and understand spread offense with multiple formations...something that Bradford had at OU and needs again.

Thoughts?

This a a bad fit. Fisher will be coaching a young QB and I really don't see what the big deal is with Fisher. He hasn't won anything since he had steve Mcnair and he is nothing more than just a good defensive coordinator and he will get a chance due to the fact of his long tenure at Tenn. But what did he really do? Look at his won lost record there over his career. I think the rams can do much better. They need to go after coward a winning guy who has the right stuff and a coach that will stand behind his players 100% and not throw them under the bus like fisher will.
