Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

The New York Giants have a lot of confidence right now. That's totally understandable. But making guarantees about beating the defending-champion Packers, in Lambeau, already? That seems silly.

But it's not stopping Jason Pierre-Paul, who guaranteed a Giants win over the Packers on Sunday.

"We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best."

Wild-Card Weekend Recap

The Giants are quite good. They might be the best team in the playoffs and it's great that JPP is confident. (Interestingly, the only quotes to make it onto the Giants official site are the follow-ups about how sure JPP is.) He should be, given the way the Giants dismantled Atlanta's offense on Sunday afternoon.

But the vibe we get from him is that the Packers aren't as pumped up about a rematch against the Giants. And that's simply not the case. There are plenty of guys on this roster who remember what happened back the last time the Giants won the Super Bowl.

"The team that kept us from our potential Super Bowl in 08 is back on OUR turf now," Jennings tweeted on Sunday. "Trust me,we haven't forgotten. Here. We ... GoPackGo! #BeGreat"

What's interesting to us is the heavy amount of comparisons to the 2007 season. Obviously, there are some similarities. But there are a lot of differences as well. For one, the Packers are better. (And maybe the Giants are better too.)

“We might be a better team than we were in ’07, but I think Green Bay is a better than they were in ’07, too," Tuck said per our Giants Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin.

The more logical comparison, then, is to the last time these teams played. Which, uh, was this year. That game was played in New York, but the Packers still managed to win 38-35.

Which is why, regardless of how confident Pierre-Paul is, he might want to consider scaling back any public declarations about the outcome of the game until victory is actually in hand.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Actually Propick, Green Bay is getting two O-linemen back, Sitton and Clifton both missed the game in NY.  Plus they're getting their two middle linebackers back, Francois and Smith were playing instead of Hawk and Bishop.

For some reason while the experts keep mentioning the Giants getting injured players back, they seem to forget that Green Bay is getting their injured players back as well.  The injuries on the O-line played a critical role in the loss at KC, and the injuries on defense contributed to the defense giving up a lot more rushing yardage and points in the last month of the season.

While I am hoping for a blowout win for the Packers, I don't think it will happen; I think it will be a close, hard fought game.  NY and NO are very dangerous opponents, I would have preferred Atlanta and Detroit winning the Wildcard round.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

In the moment - about the only thing is they are the reigning Super Bowl Champs which means what now  . . . oh yeah NOTHING!

I see you easily get your panties in a bunch.  And I love how you are mad JPP guarantees a win and then you go ahead and guarantee a win.

That's right - not a player or coach doing but you - an irrational fan that takes it way too serious and would be laughed at by the same players he pulls for due to your whining because everyone on the board doesn't agree with you.

I have a feeling that even if the Packers win, you will still be not satisfied and complaining about something.

Have fun watching the game by yourself, because there is no way anyone could stand to watch it with you!

Badger, you do know that all those stats mean nothing in the playoffs? The playoffs are a whole different deal. I seem to remember a Giants team that wasn't given a chance to win the championship at all against a team that seems very similar to the one you just described. I also seem to remember a Packers team that also squeeked into the playoffs in the last week, and managed to win it all not to long ago...

You just make yourself look stupid when you try to throw out a bunch of stats and are wrong. And nobody said they were juggernauts. I will say this about Lambeau fans, they are by far the most fun at a game. The tailgaters outside the stadium will give you food and a beer if they see your hands empty. Even when wearing a Giants jersey.

Wow...the game hasn't even been played and you're already complaining about the officials and crying conspiracy.

Nothing like having a pre-made excuse handy to explain when your team loses.

Perhaps Roger Gooddell was also on the grassy knoll in Dallas back in November 1963?  You should look into that.

Okay, I'll be in the moment...reigning SB champions.  #1 record in the NFL.  QB with the best rating for a season in NFL history.  Embarrassed the Giants at Lambeau last time we played.  Beat the Giants in their own stadium only a month ago...recent enough for you?

Or do you have "goldfish" memory and only look at what's happened over the last few seconds to convince yourself you're right.

Good thing you have that Falcons game TiVo'd...might want to watch it again and again.  After all, it'll be the last win for you team until pre-season.

My bad...the Giants were 9-7 instead of 8-8.  Yup, they're juggernauts alright.

Look, the guy is "hyped",  and I don't blame him. He spoke for himself, not the team. And any team can beat any other team on any given day. Just like the Giants did against New England when no one thought they had a snowball's chance in hell. So, to all the "cheese heads", stand by your team just like we will stand by ours. All I know is there will be some people not posting so much after this game. Will it be us or you? Gonna be real interesting to see. "Go Blue"

Hey Badger, I wonder if any of your stats are right. The Giants aren't 9-8. Get a life dude. I seriously think if the Pack lose you might kill yourself.
