Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

The New York Giants have a lot of confidence right now. That's totally understandable. But making guarantees about beating the defending-champion Packers, in Lambeau, already? That seems silly.

But it's not stopping Jason Pierre-Paul, who guaranteed a Giants win over the Packers on Sunday.

"We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best."

Wild-Card Weekend Recap

The Giants are quite good. They might be the best team in the playoffs and it's great that JPP is confident. (Interestingly, the only quotes to make it onto the Giants official site are the follow-ups about how sure JPP is.) He should be, given the way the Giants dismantled Atlanta's offense on Sunday afternoon.

But the vibe we get from him is that the Packers aren't as pumped up about a rematch against the Giants. And that's simply not the case. There are plenty of guys on this roster who remember what happened back the last time the Giants won the Super Bowl.

"The team that kept us from our potential Super Bowl in 08 is back on OUR turf now," Jennings tweeted on Sunday. "Trust me,we haven't forgotten. Here. We ... GoPackGo! #BeGreat"

What's interesting to us is the heavy amount of comparisons to the 2007 season. Obviously, there are some similarities. But there are a lot of differences as well. For one, the Packers are better. (And maybe the Giants are better too.)

“We might be a better team than we were in ’07, but I think Green Bay is a better than they were in ’07, too," Tuck said per our Giants Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin.

The more logical comparison, then, is to the last time these teams played. Which, uh, was this year. That game was played in New York, but the Packers still managed to win 38-35.

Which is why, regardless of how confident Pierre-Paul is, he might want to consider scaling back any public declarations about the outcome of the game until victory is actually in hand.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Any team that can constantly put pressure on an opposing QB, run the ball effectively, and throw downfield when warranted has a chance to win. I like the Giants chances and am sure that they are getting much needed help from Romeo Crennell's repetoire.
See you in San Francisco 49ers! I'm not buying into these high scoring offenseive/mediocre defensive teams anymore. New England won't get to the SuperBowl either!

Sounds about right to me. The Slackers barely won by 3 points in week 13.

The way I see this coming weekend .... Gents slap down the Slackers, Saints pound the Niners.

Then the Saints pop the Gents at home and go collect the SB trophy two weeks later no matter who they play.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

There's something magical about this team.  It's really starting to feel like '07-'08 all over again.  Although listening to sports radio in Philadelphia today, they still give the Giants no credit and no respect.  Saying things like "the Packers are going to smoke 'em" and "the Eagles are still better than several of these playoff teams including the Giants."  Total homers.  Giants have the better QB, better WRs, better O-line, better D-line, and overall better defense.  Plus they have a few outright studs on defense like JPP and Tuck that the Eagles are lacking.  As great as these playoffs are shaping up in the early going, the best part is the Eagles weren't invited.  World Champs - 1960.  And while the NFC East has the most Lombardi trophies of any division with 11, it's the three historic franchises carrying the dead weight of those overrated pigeons and their obnoxious fan base.

If the Giants win, does that make Pierre-Paul's bid for the HOF automatic?

I have to like that attitude him and his teammates have.  Theyre the hot team right, no doubt about it.  Having said that he prolly shouldnt have said anything. But i do like em to knock the Packers off. Its all about getting hot at the right time.  Green Bay has gotten every bounce this season and I have to think it cant continue, but this should be a great game.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Ok can we get some game analysis?  I hope all the players on the giants think they are going to win and all the players on the Packers think they are going to win.  Otherwise they ought not be playing.  Seems like in these big games they look for one guy in his excitemtn voice his feelling and then it gets blown out of proportion.

This should be a good game - At this point there are no easy games left - you better be ready.  the NFC looks particularly tough this go round.
