The New York Giants have a lot of confidence right now. That's totally understandable. But making guarantees about beating the defending-champion Packers, in Lambeau, already? That seems silly.

But it's not stopping Jason Pierre-Paul, who guaranteed a Giants win over the Packers on Sunday.

"We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best."

Wild-Card Weekend Recap

The Giants are quite good. They might be the best team in the playoffs and it's great that JPP is confident. (Interestingly, the only quotes to make it onto the Giants official site are the follow-ups about how sure JPP is.) He should be, given the way the Giants dismantled Atlanta's offense on Sunday afternoon.

But the vibe we get from him is that the Packers aren't as pumped up about a rematch against the Giants. And that's simply not the case. There are plenty of guys on this roster who remember what happened back the last time the Giants won the Super Bowl.

"The team that kept us from our potential Super Bowl in 08 is back on OUR turf now," Jennings tweeted on Sunday. "Trust me,we haven't forgotten. Here. We ... GoPackGo! #BeGreat"

What's interesting to us is the heavy amount of comparisons to the 2007 season. Obviously, there are some similarities. But there are a lot of differences as well. For one, the Packers are better. (And maybe the Giants are better too.)

“We might be a better team than we were in ’07, but I think Green Bay is a better than they were in ’07, too," Tuck said per our Giants Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin.

The more logical comparison, then, is to the last time these teams played. Which, uh, was this year. That game was played in New York, but the Packers still managed to win 38-35.

Which is why, regardless of how confident Pierre-Paul is, he might want to consider scaling back any public declarations about the outcome of the game until victory is actually in hand.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

This will make the Destruction of the Giants even more enjoyable this weekend after stupid comments like this from Pierre-Paul.  I'm so sick of hearing about the Giants and Eli Manning, who barely eeked into the play-offs.  If my over-hyped Eagles hadn't blown just one game of the 5 4th quarter games they blew, the Giants would again be home sitting on the couch and Coughlin would have been fired.

Go Packers, kick the crap out of Eli and the Giants!
Yeah, and if the Queen had she'd be the King.."If" this, "If" that...all you Iggles fans are the same - If the refs don't blow 4 calls (that were recognized by the league officiating committee after the game) the Giants would have beaten the Packers when they played in the regular season; you can talk about what ifs all you want - what if's don't winn playoff games....but hey, the Giants do.

It's funny to see another crying Iggles fan..... how many Super Bowl rings does Andy Reid and the Iggles have???? That's right...ZERO. Boy it must be tough being an Iggles fan these days.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Nothing more entertaining than half-witted Bear fans ripping on the Packers.  Their comments may be a little more credible if their coach wasn't named Lovie, they didn't have a QB who couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag and they actually won more than 8 games.  Last time I checked it's not 1985 anymore.

Raji perfected that dance with a pick-six last year against the Bears IN Chicago.  Oh but I don't need to remind you of that.  Your such a typical bitter loser Bears fan still living in 1985.  As long as you have a coach named Lovie, the Bears will always be just like you...a LOSER :-)

That's funny, apparently we're in the company of the only fan in the world that misinterpreted that quote, lol, not sure how you could misread that one.  As far as hsiernydaddy, already pulling out the "this game is fixed" card.  Just a cheap excuse, so we you won't feel so bad when they lose, you must have zero confidence going in...

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

He didn't guarantee a win. He wants to win, just like every other member from BOTH teams.

Let's go to the quote from the NY papers.

“We’re going to win,’’ said Jason Pierre-Paul, the second-year defensive end/man-child who had another one of his punishing performances. “One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.’’

Game over.

Playing in Green Bay The Giants will get absolutly no calls, the officials will not throw flags on Rodger Goodels boys, its a total farce. It would be nice to see the arogant Packers and their fans go down but the NFL does not want that so wake up Giant Fans.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

wow. lots aof vitriol here. almost thought it was a politcal story. i am a Packers fan but find nothing wrong with what jpp said. what's he suppsoed to say, the Giants are going to lose? Personnally, I will take my team against anyone in the league right now. The only game that would scare me would be playing the Saints in New Orleans. But that won't happen. I think Rodgers will put up enough points to win against anyone. Thinking this will be a Ravens-Packers Super Bowl.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Packer fans aren't the ones that posted his quote dipshit...What do the Packers care what dumb comment any Giant player has to make, they need no extra motivation against a team they already beat in their own house.  Wooh hooo you have a couple good defensive lineman, you're secondary is pathetic, Rodgers torched them for 38, and the packers had 2 o lineman out...you giant fans listen to to much of that moron colin cowherd...Just rememeber, he's the same idiot that said the bears were the team to beat after cutler went out, loool, good call.
