The New York Giants have a lot of confidence right now. That's totally understandable. But making guarantees about beating the defending-champion Packers, in Lambeau, already? That seems silly.

But it's not stopping Jason Pierre-Paul, who guaranteed a Giants win over the Packers on Sunday.

"We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best."

Wild-Card Weekend Recap

The Giants are quite good. They might be the best team in the playoffs and it's great that JPP is confident. (Interestingly, the only quotes to make it onto the Giants official site are the follow-ups about how sure JPP is.) He should be, given the way the Giants dismantled Atlanta's offense on Sunday afternoon.

But the vibe we get from him is that the Packers aren't as pumped up about a rematch against the Giants. And that's simply not the case. There are plenty of guys on this roster who remember what happened back the last time the Giants won the Super Bowl.

"The team that kept us from our potential Super Bowl in 08 is back on OUR turf now," Jennings tweeted on Sunday. "Trust me,we haven't forgotten. Here. We ... GoPackGo! #BeGreat"

What's interesting to us is the heavy amount of comparisons to the 2007 season. Obviously, there are some similarities. But there are a lot of differences as well. For one, the Packers are better. (And maybe the Giants are better too.)

“We might be a better team than we were in ’07, but I think Green Bay is a better than they were in ’07, too," Tuck said per our Giants Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin.

The more logical comparison, then, is to the last time these teams played. Which, uh, was this year. That game was played in New York, but the Packers still managed to win 38-35.

Which is why, regardless of how confident Pierre-Paul is, he might want to consider scaling back any public declarations about the outcome of the game until victory is actually in hand.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

A fluke is when you would lose 95/100 games vs tht patriots team and you happend to win on tht day. I didn't say nething about the esgles being in the playoffs in fact I said the eagles screwed up and gave games away. Giants won 3 out of there last 8 they are not peaking...if beating a horrible jets and Dallas team is peaking then Good luck against GB your teams gonna need to be perfect.

Actually I think it is the fact that you guys say it is your year every year and have yet to even win a Superbowl. Fluke huh. A fluke is a one time thing. I think we had to beat quite a few good teams in the playoffs to even get to the Superbowl. Throw some more meaningless stats out there. How did the 5th ranked defense work our for you. Home for the playoffs, How did 5-1 in the division work out for ya? Home for the playoffs. How did Jacksons 1000 yards after Vick missing 4 games? Home for the playoffs.

Will NY win the Superbowl? Who knows. But at least NY was good enough to make it. Maybe you and your other Philly buddies can go beat up a couple of NY fans again. At least then you win at something.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

The display of intelligence on this thread is frankly depressing. JPP should not have said what he did, but it IS good that he believes in his team, just as anyone else on either team hopefully does. One quote doesn't make him a complete idiot, or a nobody. And to those of you who are claiming a blowout win by the Packers, using mostly irrelevant reasons to back yourselves up, and then using fifth grade language to lower yourselves to the level of the ones you're insulting, you must understand that what happened in the regular season NO LONGER MATTERS WHATSOEVER. It's the playoffs, and all of the teams are here for a reason, and they are all good. The game will be a good one, the Giants are peaking, and they will be a tough matchup for the Packers. If their defensive front can get to Rodgers, then I believe they can take the game, since the Packers have a weak running game and the Giant's offense should do well against the Packers defense. The game I believe won't be decided by more than a field goal or a last minute touchdown, and it will overall be a good one to watch.

Nyalaska your a moron, you know nothing about football. Yes best team in tht the eagles Went 5-1 in the division. No cole didnt do better then jpp but it's also just one season. Thts like saying stafford is better then Brady because he had one good season. However I do think jpp will become better and did have a good season. Trent cold is in fact better then osi and tuck..this is why you know nothing babin sucks he had 18 sacks and only 40 tackles, so it's obvious your clueless. Yes tht was the coaches fault for putting him in zone defense when he's a man to man guy and when he was playing man he was great. People like to think tht the eagles defense was horrible but infact it was 8th in the nfl. Jackson didn't have the best season but he still had almost 1000 yards recieving with Vick out for 4 games. Wasn't as good as his others but it wasn't close to how bad some People like to think. I think it's funny though how us eagles fans always get crap because we are known for saying its always our year yet the giants always win one playoff game and all the fans think they are the greatest, gonna beat the best team in football, your last super bowl was a fluke. Just like the giants of baseball, you aren't going to win the super bowl.

Because that's exactly the thing you want to do to a 15-1 team.  Give them bulletin board material.

GIANTS ARE HOT AND PLAYING VERY CONFIDENT.....IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHERE THE "LINE" ENDS UP.....GREN BAY DEFENSE VERY POUROUS AND CANT SEEM TO STOP ANYBODY....ALSO VERY WEAK RUNNING GAME........IF THE NY D CAN SLOW THE GB PASSING GAME DOWN THIS GAME SHOULD BE A GREAT ONE.......I DONT EXPECT A GB BLOWOUT......

Ignore Nova. He drinks heavily and lives and dies by the way his Philly team plays. Eagles best team in the East? You must be on crack. Cole couldn't hold JPP's, Osi's or Tucks jock. Babin could for sure but he was the only good thing. Eagles took a shutdown cormer and made him pedestrian. Not even gonna bring up the Eagles tackling skills. By all means, let the teams focus on Cruz. Opens thinks up for Nicks and Manningham like we saw in Atlanta. Jackson had a great year lasy year. How was he this year? Not sure he was too busy throwing fits and getting benched for games to tell?

If JPP was half the player you said he was, he would have answered like a veteran player and said the best team will win or whatever. But being a POS like yourself, he opened up his mouth and spewed some garbage, like yourself. Hmmmm, are you related to him. LOL
