Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

The New York Giants have a lot of confidence right now. That's totally understandable. But making guarantees about beating the defending-champion Packers, in Lambeau, already? That seems silly.

But it's not stopping Jason Pierre-Paul, who guaranteed a Giants win over the Packers on Sunday.

"We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best."

Wild-Card Weekend Recap

The Giants are quite good. They might be the best team in the playoffs and it's great that JPP is confident. (Interestingly, the only quotes to make it onto the Giants official site are the follow-ups about how sure JPP is.) He should be, given the way the Giants dismantled Atlanta's offense on Sunday afternoon.

But the vibe we get from him is that the Packers aren't as pumped up about a rematch against the Giants. And that's simply not the case. There are plenty of guys on this roster who remember what happened back the last time the Giants won the Super Bowl.

"The team that kept us from our potential Super Bowl in 08 is back on OUR turf now," Jennings tweeted on Sunday. "Trust me,we haven't forgotten. Here. We ... GoPackGo! #BeGreat"

What's interesting to us is the heavy amount of comparisons to the 2007 season. Obviously, there are some similarities. But there are a lot of differences as well. For one, the Packers are better. (And maybe the Giants are better too.)

“We might be a better team than we were in ’07, but I think Green Bay is a better than they were in ’07, too," Tuck said per our Giants Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin.

The more logical comparison, then, is to the last time these teams played. Which, uh, was this year. That game was played in New York, but the Packers still managed to win 38-35.

Which is why, regardless of how confident Pierre-Paul is, he might want to consider scaling back any public declarations about the outcome of the game until victory is actually in hand.

I'll take any bets right now.....I like Packers -8.  They may win this game by more than 20.  It's going to be a wipeout.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Gauranateeing wins is a major waste of time. What happens if the Giants or any other team that a player gaurantees a win for does not win? Absolutely nothing. Players can say anything they want...who cares if there is nothing to back it up. One of these bigshots should back it up one day by gauranteeing they will retire, or at least sit out a year if their team does not win. Then maybe all of this crap about gauranteeing a win may carry some sort of bravado that they imply when making such ridiculous statements. Clay Matthews could come out and gaurantee a win for the Packers too. Someone will be wrong and who really cares about their hot air in hindsight. No one because gauranteeing a win means ZERO unless someone puts something on the line.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

Packers are a better team than they were in 2008; I don't know that Giants are, though they've played better over the last three games. This kid can play, but he just tore a page out of Rex Blowhard's book and ran with it. When it all goes down this weekend, we'll see if the latest NY bigmouth has enough to back it up.

Pierre-Paul guarantees Giants win over Packers

They won 3 games out of the last 8 and two of them vs cowgirls! OOOOOH, the Pack is really scared! Alot of talk considering they only have one win vs a playoff team during the reg season. Always smoke coming out of NY! Guarnatee win coming from a NOBODY and an over rated team! Wow Manning has 15 4th 1/4 Td's...LOL his record is 9-7 and like I said they only have one win vs a Playoff team all season!

I just hope the Packers heard it.  And how many New York Giant fans are firing Tom Coughlin (sorry about the spelling) now.  If I was him, I'd leave just to leave.  He is a good coach who is always on the edge of being fired, can't understand it.  I have nothing against the Giants except this Sunday but he (Coughlin) get kicked around a lot but he finds a way to get to the playoffs and it not a one and done deal.  I think the vast majority of teams would love to have him as their Head Coach!  They complain about Eli a lot too and he has looked pretty darn good lately, hopefully not this Sunday!

bgtaylor, exactly why aren't the Packers at full strength? The six pro-bowlers who sat out the game vs. Detroit are all back, including Clifton, Bulaga and Sitton, along with Starks and Jennings. I guess that means GB will win the game, according to you? Thanks for the nice prediction.
