On Sunday during The NFL Today, CBS Sports Charley Casserly reported that Baylor quarterback (and second-rated would-be draftee) Robert Griffin III would think over his NFL Draft decision, meet with Baylor coach Art Briles on Tuesday and make a call on whether to go pro or not.

He's reportedly made that call and, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, he's "informing" Briles that he will enter the NFL Draft. Mortensen writes all that's left for the Heisman winner is to pick an agent, which could happen by Tuesday evening.

Briles said earlier Tuesday, via our NFL Draft Scout amigos, that Griffin is "contemplating what he feels like is the thing that's going to give him peace."

2012 NFL Draft

In our most recent 2012 NFL Mock Drafts, Griffin, who is the No. 3-ranked prospect overall in our rankings, went to the Browns in both cases.

When the real draft rolls around, there's a pretty good chance that RG3 wouldn't even last that long; there's plenty of rumors circulating that the Redskins will make a move to leapfrog the Browns for the second- or third-overall pick.

We already know that the Rams are locked in on Sam Bradford and that the Vikings are committed to Christian Ponder as their starter for the future.

That means both teams will be looking to maximize the value out of their respective draft slots, and that could very easily equate to a trade down that involves either the Redskins, the Dolphins, or some other surprise team.

All of this is to say that it makes absolute sense for Griffin to make a leap to the pros now, rather than waiting a year. So it's no surprise to hear that's exactly what he's doing.

Report: RG3 'informing' Baylor he's going to NFL

I accurately predicted that Andrew Luck would not win the Heisman trophy. I also accurately predicted that Robert Griffin would come on strong toward the end and win it. I also predict that Andrew Luck will be a very successful QB in the NFL. I also predict that Robert Griffin will draw comparisons of JaMarcus Russell. The simple truth is this. No Heisman winner ever succeeded in the NFL since Barry Sanders. This is especially true of Heisman winners who are QBs. Cam Newton...had a great rookie year and people are saying that he is the real deal and that he is what every thought he would be. But guess what. The same words were used to describe Sam Bradford and he looked really terrible in his second season.

Guys you should take note who Newton's off season coach was. The NFL should sign that guy up to be a QB coach or Offensive Coordinator. Chris Weinke is his name!

I won't say who will win this weekend's playoff games...but let's just say that the home team will cover the spread....whatever that means. I don't bet on sports so I have no idea what that means. It was something I heard Bob Fitzgerald and Rod Brooks talking about on their daily radio show.

Griffin is going to be very successfull in the NFL, he is a better version of Newton. RG3 has all the physical tools Newton has and 1, the kid is very smart. RG3 is going to be something special assuming he isnt the only weapon on his new team, he is going to need recievers, if the Browns draft him I really hope they draft a reciever that can get open and catch....

Ask the Oklahoma St. defense and coaching staff who they thought was better?  Luck or Griffin?  They would tell you it wasn't even close.

Once again, bad information people.  According to Heath Nielson, Baylor's Sports Information Director and much more reliable source than Mortensen/ESPN is that Robert will NOT be making a decision and there will be no announcement today.  Mortensen is praying his rumor filled, no support with any real facts story turns out to be true so he can say he knew it first.  Quite frankly, Mortensen doesn't know squat and Robert's family is too protective to reveal his decision.

When you say Luck only played 2 good teams and only won one I don't quite see the math. Oregon and Ok State? He lost both. Unless you're counting the SC win, but they certainly didn't have a better season that either oregon or ok state.

RGIII will be a star in the NFL.  The knock on mobile QB's has always been accuracy.  Living on the westcoast, I didn't get to see much of Cam in college other than the Oregon game.  After that game I was a believer because he showed good accuracy and the ability to throw from the pocket.  I'm a believer in RGIII because the 3 games I've watched of him, he's made some pretty amazing throws from in the pocket and on the run.

My Seahawks are a QB away from being legitimate contenders.  If ol' Petey Caroll was willing to give up a 2nd round pick for Jesus Whitehurst, let's hope he's willing to push in all the chips to get RGIII!!

IMO Griffin will have a better career then Luck. Griffin played in the BIG 12 and he proved how well he can play under pressure against good defense. Stanford only played 2 good teams and won 1...Like I said IMO...Bring on the hate...

Lol at the Carolina fans who think Griffin can't be better than Newton. He might end up being better.
