By Will Brinson

On Sunday during The NFL Today, CBS Sports Charley Casserly reported that Baylor quarterback (and second-rated would-be draftee) Robert Griffin III would think over his NFL Draft decision, meet with Baylor coach Art Briles on Tuesday and make a call on whether to go pro or not.

He's reportedly made that call and, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, he's "informing" Briles that he will enter the NFL Draft. Mortensen writes all that's left for the Heisman winner is to pick an agent, which could happen by Tuesday evening.

Briles said earlier Tuesday, via our NFL Draft Scout amigos, that Griffin is "contemplating what he feels like is the thing that's going to give him peace."

2012 NFL Draft

In our most recent 2012 NFL Mock Drafts, Griffin, who is the No. 3-ranked prospect overall in our rankings, went to the Browns in both cases.

When the real draft rolls around, there's a pretty good chance that RG3 wouldn't even last that long; there's plenty of rumors circulating that the Redskins will make a move to leapfrog the Browns for the second- or third-overall pick.

We already know that the Rams are locked in on Sam Bradford and that the Vikings are committed to Christian Ponder as their starter for the future.

That means both teams will be looking to maximize the value out of their respective draft slots, and that could very easily equate to a trade down that involves either the Redskins, the Dolphins, or some other surprise team.

All of this is to say that it makes absolute sense for Griffin to make a leap to the pros now, rather than waiting a year. So it's no surprise to hear that's exactly what he's doing.

Report: RG3 'informing' Baylor he's going to NFL

Grifin III needs to go to a team that is willing to change the offensive system to match his skills. When Cam entered Carolina, the OC, Rob Chudzinski, took his offensive philosophy of an aggressive run-and-shoot, vertical attack and melded it with an option offense which fitted his skills perfectly. Now Carolina is an elite offense with Newton. The OC and coaching staff in whole must be committed to the young man and must be selfless with their playbook. They must be open to changes in their philosophy and make him comfortable in his rookie season. Relax on the west coast system, Pat Shurmur or whomever will be his coach. Ultimately, if Griffin III is supplied situations like Newton had in Carolina he will be an instant success. However, do not expect his success to be as initially astounding as Cam's was; Newton is a once-in-a-lifetime talent, yet this kid can be very special, no doubt.

RG3 will be a stud...You guys who dont believe in this guy are the same MORONS that didn't believe in Newton. Shame on all of you. Hes a class act and will haunt whatever division rivalries he'll face. 2 thumbs up Robert. Best of Luck brother...Go get'em

Any other year and he is probably a #1 pick, whichever team gets him is probably getting lucky. I'm still not sure Luck will be better than this guy from everything I've read. RGIII seems to have that "it" factor.

Report: RG3 'informing' Baylor he's going to NFL "The Redskins should not pick Robert Griffin. He was an exciting college QB, but will flop in the NFL. The Skins fell in love with that SEC QB a few years ago and are still paying the price for it." Yeah, just like Cam Newton was a flop right? The kid is good sized, extremely smart(crucial in the NFL), and has a cannon! Griffin extends plays and is a winner so don't throw any comparisons out there like that. Have you ever watched him play? Not just play, but his mechanics and football smarts? He will most certainly not be a flop...may take time to get adjusted but as a Jets fan, I hate to say it but I would like to see him under center over Sanchez. His wonderlic will be in the top 10( minus Ivy League guys invited to combine) and has the talent to boot.

My Colts have thier pick, so as long as RG3 doesn't go to the Patriots I wish him all the best. Kid is nothing but class and is as amazing a thrower as he is a runner. If I'm the Vikings, I'm taking him. You could get a little bit for Ponder, and I think you could play Griffin right away. Can you imagine RG3, Harvin, and AP on the same field at the same time? With the defense the Vikings have that could be a scary team in a few years.

Good luck RG3...you have the Browns or the Redskins waiting to draft you in April. Personally, I hope the Dolphins make a trade to move in the draft and take RG3. I think that is what the new head coach of the Dolphins is going to need and not some journeyman QB

Good for him.  I wish him well.  Mike Holmgran would love to get his mitts on him.
