Jeff Fisher picked the Rams over the Dolphins, CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman has confirmed.

Latest Coaching Rumors, News

Fisher stated last week that he was down to two choices: Miami and St. Louis. One (Miami) featured an owner willing to pay big, big bucks. The other (St. Louis) featured a young, star quarterback in Sam Bradford, potentially more front office control and the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Fisher chose the latter and he'll be roaming the sidelines for the Rams in 2012.

"I'm pumped," fullback Britt Miller told The Associated Press. "I figured that because he wanted a little more control that Miami was probably not the place for him. I'm really pumped."

Fisher's been the hottest coaching name this offseason, getting mentioned in rumors involving the Rams, Dolphins, Colts, Buccaneers and even the not-even-vacant position in Chicago, which was supposedly Fisher's dream job.

It's believed that Fisher could bring current Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who worked with Fisher in Tennessee, to join him in St. Louis.

Momentum reportedly swung back to the Dolphins earlier in the week, but here's an interesting tidbit from Yahoo Sports Mike Silver: Fisher was willing to meet Dolphins owner Stephen Ross "halfway" on personnel matters, letting general manager Jeff Ireland still retain plenty of power. However, Ross/Ireland reportedly weren't willing to budge and it may have ultimately cost them a chance to land Fisher.

Reports also indicate that Fisher will choose his own general manager in St. Louis, so the amount of leverage he pulled out of these two teams really can't be overstated.

Jeff Fisher picks Rams over Dolphins

Been a Rams' Fan since the 70s, this is the second coming of Dick Vermil! I'm very happy and excited that Jeff is with us. But the NFC West is turning into a tough division, with the 49ers, and the Cardinals and Seahawks are teams on the rise too. The Rams are better than their record, so it wont be long till they are very competitive.

Fisher made the right choice why would he want to go to Miami. # 1 Half the time radio stations have to buy tickets because they dont sell their games out. # 2 - Its a fan base that isnt very supportive. Just look at the crowd when the Jets or Patriots go there half ot it are their fans. # 3 - They dont have 1 player you can say WOW I can build this franchise around. 4 - If you are getting player personnel control in St. Louis and NOT in Miami why wouly you want to go to Miami ? 5 - You avoid Tom Brady twice a year LOL

Fisher worked for a tightfisted screwball owner and had very few losing seasons. He was constantly having to rebuild and develop no-name players because Bud Adams would not pay for star-caliber contracts. Given an organization that ISN'T dysfunctional (and it remains to be seen if the Rams new ownership meets that criteria), Fisher will build a consistently competitive, playoff team.

Really the only consistent thing about bradford is change?? You have to be kidding  me, how about INJURIES....Bradford is garbage, i wouldnt be surprised if he tries to trade him and get another QB like he had in Mcnair. Hell draft RG3 then trade one of them, if he trades RG3 hell get a ton of picks and future picks and maybe a solid player also in return. The WRs in STL are garbage. Not one of them is a go to guy, and Llyod is overratedand only plays welll against weak defenses

Jeff Fisher picks Rams over Dolphins

thatlsk seems on track here in wondering why the appeal of Jeff Fisher is still there after 16 years and only 6 winning seasons, and ONE Super Bowl appearance.  I'll take it one step further and wonder why the author is calling Sam Bradford a young, star quarterback. Perhaps he meant a young, 1 star quarterback as opposed to a young, 4 star quarterback.

Hopefully this brings the best out of Sam Bradford.  Such excellent talent but the only consistent thing about him is change.  Hopefully he now has an opportunity to shine!

My poor Dolphins just can't buy a Break lately. Very dissapointed we didn't get Fisher but even more sorry for Ross whose over zealous and underachieving antics has dilluted his ownerships ability to convince talented coaches to take him serious or believe in Him and his regimes direction!!

not a bad choice, he will stick with Bradford (and should) and if he lands Gregg Williams then that defense should get better.
