Jeff Fisher picked the Rams over the Dolphins, CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman has confirmed.

Latest Coaching Rumors, News

Fisher stated last week that he was down to two choices: Miami and St. Louis. One (Miami) featured an owner willing to pay big, big bucks. The other (St. Louis) featured a young, star quarterback in Sam Bradford, potentially more front office control and the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Fisher chose the latter and he'll be roaming the sidelines for the Rams in 2012.

"I'm pumped," fullback Britt Miller told The Associated Press. "I figured that because he wanted a little more control that Miami was probably not the place for him. I'm really pumped."

Fisher's been the hottest coaching name this offseason, getting mentioned in rumors involving the Rams, Dolphins, Colts, Buccaneers and even the not-even-vacant position in Chicago, which was supposedly Fisher's dream job.

It's believed that Fisher could bring current Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who worked with Fisher in Tennessee, to join him in St. Louis.

Momentum reportedly swung back to the Dolphins earlier in the week, but here's an interesting tidbit from Yahoo Sports Mike Silver: Fisher was willing to meet Dolphins owner Stephen Ross "halfway" on personnel matters, letting general manager Jeff Ireland still retain plenty of power. However, Ross/Ireland reportedly weren't willing to budge and it may have ultimately cost them a chance to land Fisher.

Reports also indicate that Fisher will choose his own general manager in St. Louis, so the amount of leverage he pulled out of these two teams really can't be overstated.

Stephen Ross must be a jackass. Why does Jeff Ireland still have a job?

Wow. A coach with the power to choose his own boss (GM) is pretty rich. I don't blame the Fins for not allowing him to do that.  Waste away in the rural midwest Fisher.  Belichek would have crapped in your hat any way my friend.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Kevin Gilbride.  I don't recall Buddy punching him, not Jeff Fisher.

Do you watch football? All the Rams have is Steven Jackson and he is getting a little older and it's tough for him to stay healthy.  Miami won 6 games this year and are not happy with it...the Rams are once again picking in the top 5 in the draft again.  Dolphins are better hands down and will continue to be better.

MarcusBrutus has no clue what good RBs are

Miami's tandem of Bush and Thomas couldnt even carry SJax jock. Please, I dare you to find one credible NFL analyst that would say that the dolphins RBs are better than the Rams, youre a joke. Dolphins wont make it to the playoffs again until they arent in a division with the pats.

Good point... St.Louis is a dump and Bradford is not that much better than Moore. He should've taken the money and moved to South FL. Nonetheless, the Dolphins still need a better QB; the Dan Marino days are over and they have to stop relying on piss-poor leadership at offence. Reggie Bush had a decent season and they have depth at RB and WR but without a strong leader to take over and control the game rythm, they have no chance in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.

There aren't many quality coaches left out there so I still think Fisher would have been better than whatever crust they get now.

Regardless, GO FINS!

Fisher will have the Rams turned around quickly. Next year they will be in the hunt for a playoff spot. This year's draft can make that happen that much quicker. It's important that they give their Qb some weapons on the outside.

I dont get it. Whats the fascination with Fisher? He has as many super bowl wins as a head coach as I do.
