Jeff Fisher picked the Rams over the Dolphins, CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman has confirmed.

Latest Coaching Rumors, News

Fisher stated last week that he was down to two choices: Miami and St. Louis. One (Miami) featured an owner willing to pay big, big bucks. The other (St. Louis) featured a young, star quarterback in Sam Bradford, potentially more front office control and the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Fisher chose the latter and he'll be roaming the sidelines for the Rams in 2012.

"I'm pumped," fullback Britt Miller told The Associated Press. "I figured that because he wanted a little more control that Miami was probably not the place for him. I'm really pumped."

Fisher's been the hottest coaching name this offseason, getting mentioned in rumors involving the Rams, Dolphins, Colts, Buccaneers and even the not-even-vacant position in Chicago, which was supposedly Fisher's dream job.

It's believed that Fisher could bring current Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who worked with Fisher in Tennessee, to join him in St. Louis.

Momentum reportedly swung back to the Dolphins earlier in the week, but here's an interesting tidbit from Yahoo Sports Mike Silver: Fisher was willing to meet Dolphins owner Stephen Ross "halfway" on personnel matters, letting general manager Jeff Ireland still retain plenty of power. However, Ross/Ireland reportedly weren't willing to budge and it may have ultimately cost them a chance to land Fisher.

Reports also indicate that Fisher will choose his own general manager in St. Louis, so the amount of leverage he pulled out of these two teams really can't be overstated.

Jeff Fisher picks Rams over Dolphins

Saw this coming. I mentioned that this would happen on a previous "speculation" article before. Rams give him a better chance since nobody dominates the division. Cardinals, Rams, 49ers,  Seahawks... C'mon man. What's the likelyhood Fisher can development the Rams into a dominant division winner year in, year out that makes the playoffs every year vs a Miami team that still has to compete against an up and coming Bills team, a yearly contending Jets team, and a division king in the Patriots? Miami is a doormat team. Rams are not. Their ceiling is much higher.

Jeff Fisher picks Rams over Dolphins

First it's Alex SMITH not JONES

Finally Fisher decides on the RAMS.  I hope he can turn the RAMS around and make the contenders instead of pretenders as they have been for the past 8 years.

Hope he brings in a OC and a DC and QB coach who can get the RAMS on the right path and into the playoffs.

Things are looking up for the RAMS in 2012

Fisher is a great coach.  I was really holding on hope that maybe he would become Indy's head coach.  ahhh well.

Can't blame him.  All he has to do is face Alex Jones twice a year as opposed to Tom Brady.  Good move.

I think this was a great hire for the Rams. This team has lacked mental toughness and discipline ever since Vermeil left and I think Fisher will bring that. Looking back, his Titans teams were usually very physical and and I would expect his first moves to be upgrading the offensive line and front seven on defense. Under Spags, the Rams had an attitude that it was okay as long as they try hard, lots of moral victories. Sure he had a lot of 8-8 seasons, but those teams were in salary cap hell (not Fisher's fault). Rams have plenty of cap room and a wealthy owner who wants a winning franchise.
