It's no secret that people were curious what the Broncos -- or, more specifically, John Elway and John Fox -- plan to do with Tim Tebow going forward. We mentioned the Denver problem in Sorting the Sunday Pile and early word out of Denver is that Tebow will be the starter in 2012.

Divisional Round Recap

Elway said so himself on Monday, and also added that he wants to work closely -- and personally -- with Tebow to improve during the offseason.

"Tim has earned the right to be the starting quarterback going into training camp next year," Elway said at his press conference Monday. "He made some good strides."

We mentioned this on the podcast: the Broncos are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place with their quarterback situation. They might not love Tebow and his "pure passing skills" (or whatever), but he led them to a division title in 2011.

Plus, there are no real viable options for Denver to upgrade. Look at the list that CBSSports.com's Ryan Wilson put together, and tell us who exactly the Broncos are going to get to come to Denver who is a better option than Tebow. But because they currently only have two quarterbacks under contract, they will be shopping for another one in the offseason.

"Right now we've got two quarterbacks under contract," Elway said. "We have to obviously be in the market to find some more quarterbacks in free agency or the draft."

They certainly need to sign a veteran, but one of the best options out there (Brady Quinn -- no, really) was already Tebow's backup in 2011. And what veteran is going to want to come to Denver and have to compete with Tebow? Did you even see the Broncos fans last year? They're insane.

Drafting a quarterback isn't out of the question, but it's unlikely that there'll be anyone worth taking out there when Denver makes its first-round pick. It's just a terrible market to need a quarterback if you're sitting in Denver's spot.

So they did the smart thing and put all their support behind Tebow right now, minimizing the questions that will be asked over the next several months. Next up? Try to develop him as much as possible.

"There are things that I can add," Elway said. "Where I can help him ... I'm looking forward to it."

Everything about Tebow aside, Elway is a moron.

Please don't speak of competition when your precious Tigers didn't even make the flight for the championship....

Brady Quinn!?  He could be one of the worst QB's in the league!  He will NEVER be a starter without someone getting injured.  That being said Tebow will never be elite unless he learns to throw.  I've been pulling for the kid since day one, but he is extremely raw and needs to improve his decision making and get rid of the ball more quickly.  Teams with high-powered offenses like the Pats will get up on Tebow and get him out of his rhythm by forcing him to throw and abandon the run.

If it was a true competition for the position, Quinn would have had the spot. There was no "competition", only fans like you bitchin'. Obviously, all those mushroom tattooes you've taken to the side of your face have left you too concussed to have realized that.

Am I missing something?
Denver has three quarterbacks-Tebow, Brady Quinn who will be a free agent, and some unknown on the taxi squard.  Of course Tebow is the number one quarterback.

This gives new meaning to "one and done"  Let's see what happens in free agency and the draft.  I cannot believe that Denver will not acquire at least one more quarterback.  The only questions is will Denver rstructure their offense for Tebow over the off-season or acquire a quarterback in the more traditional mode?

Keep an eye on this!!

milehimuddydog..... That's the name of the game. You play your schedule. You make it seem like other teams didn't play the Steelers, Jets, & Bears. There were many last drive wins in the NFL, so why would you pick out Tebow & the Broncos to try and make it look like other teams didn't have a lapse in defense, injury, or judgement? I will be the first to say the Tebow needs A LOT of Work!!! But!!! He has the work ethic to get better. Just remember that he has NEVER had any attention in the off-season OTA's and Training Camp. Many can't wait to put down an athlete for doing the wrong thing, but most of you that call these athletes thugs, criminals, etc... are truly hypocrits in bashing Tebow for trying to do it the right way. And the last time I checked, Tebow isn't the one shoving Christianity down anyone's throats. Heck, he doesn't even go to church because of all the attention it would take away from the message. If he was arrogant, I could see you people bashing him, but to hate a man for TRYING to do his best? You people are lunatics.....
