Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

It's one thing for Jason Pierre-Paul to declare that the Giants would beat the Packers because, well, he apparently knows what he's talking about. ("We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said after New York beat Atlanta. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.")

It's something else when Antrel Rolle makes similar proclamations; his track record in such endeavors is far from spotless. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing.

The Redskins somehow managed to sweep the Giants this season and following their Week 1 win, Rolle went on the radio and said, "As a team and organization we know that the Washington Redskins are not a better team than us. We know that. Hands down. If we played them 100 times they might win five."

Washington would win again when the two teams met 14 weeks later.

Now, five days from the NFC Championship Game, Rolle is again making with the guarantees.

"I might be a little biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat,” Rolle said via the New York Daily News' Peter Botte. “We’re extremely confident and we’ve given ourselves the reasons to feel that way. We have to continue to give ourselves those reasons, and we will. We have no doubts. It’s right there at the tip of our tongues.”

Rolle's comments aren't unreasonable (well, except that part about winning being on the "tip of our tongues" -- but we knew what he meant); the Giants did just beat the defending Super Bowl champs who went 15-1 during the 2011 regular season. And unlike his observations about the Redskins' inadequacies, Rolle didn't call out the 49ers. He just spoke to how well New York has been playing.

“You can put an All-Star team in front of us, and we’re going to go out there and compete,” he continued. “We don’t fold. No matter what happens, if there’s a bad call, or things aren’t going our way, we’re not going to break. We’re not going to lose focus on what’s at stake and our ultimate goal.”

Rolle's right about that last part: the Giants were hosed twice against the Packers and it didn't matter; they still blew Green Bay out at home. There's something to be said for that, especially since New York has to travel to San Francisco next weekend.

And while we don't have any issues with Rolle's latest remarks, we'd still feel a lot better if they came from JPP. Because, really, there's nothing more shameful than getting called out by Rex Grossman for being bad at your job.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

You said that Pats fans SUCH AS MYSELF were making comments that the Giants had no chance against the Patriots in the SB in 2007 and again against the Packers last week. So you did accuse me of saying those things in a roundabout way. The words, " Such as yourself" imply I said those things.

Still not getting it are you....You're saying the Giants will lose now...the parrellel shows that Pats fans, such as yourself, we making the same kind of statements in 2007....My words don't imply anything your just not getting it.

How would the Patriots focusing on revenge should they meet the Giants again in the Super Bowl be based solely on my opinion ?? Do the Patriots have to come out and tell you that before you believe it ????? After what happened in 2007, it would be obvious to even the most dense of people.

Dude grow up...the Pats (should they and the Giants win this week) will be focused on winning the game...for those players who were around in 2007 they might have a personal feeling of redemption but the team as whole will be focused on winning...your revenge theme is subjective and based soley on your opinion. With that said, it seems your the only dense person posting on these boards.

And maybe my prediction of Eli throwing 3 picks and Jacobs fumbling is dumb. But we sure will find out won't we ??

So you admit to being the only one running their mounths....I'll wait for my apology.

Revenge? Didnt the Patsies have a chance earlier this year for that? Patsies, Dont make me laugh.ROFLMAO

You know as well as I do that I'm talking about the Super Bowl loss. If the Pats had won the regular season game there would still be a desire for revenge in the biggest game of all.

The same thing that makes you laugh will make you cry.

Keep talking and writing in caps to make yourself feel important.I guess a lady has to do what a lady has to do.Since some people have no importance in life she comes in here to try and fill that void.
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO START WITH ME AGAIN NOBALLS??? DIDN'T I MAKE YOU CRY ALREADY AND YOU CALLED A CEASEFIRE AND APOLOGIZED TO ME ON YOUR HANDS AND KNEES???? NOW WHO'S THE LADY???? ARE YOU STILL CALLING PEOPLE NAMES WHEN THEY DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU THAT THE JETS ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL BECAUSE THEY LOST AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES ON THE ROAD 2 AND 3 YEARS AGO???? ARE YOU THE PROTECTOR OF THE JET HONOR????

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

even my friend Mai gets in on the bragging and I'm afraid he is somewhat disillusioned. I believe the Ravens will edge the Patriots in a close one(I sure hope I'm wrong there). But you see Mai, the Giants most likely won't be there either. Eli throws 3 picks. Jacobs loses a fumble and the Niners win this Sunday. And if the Patriots and Giants do somehow meet in the Super Bowl, Tom Brady and Co. are focused on revenge. And they will get it.

You've been hanging around 8ball too much Mai, my friend !WinkLaughing

AND AS FAR AS HANGING OUT WITH 8BALLS, I'D RATHER SEE THE PATS BEAT THE GIANTS IN COMPARISON Yell BUT LOOK, THE GIANTS ARE PLAYING A DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON THE ROAD. IF THEY LOSE, THEY MIGHT BE AS GOOD AS THE JETS Foot in mouth
