Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

It's one thing for Jason Pierre-Paul to declare that the Giants would beat the Packers because, well, he apparently knows what he's talking about. ("We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said after New York beat Atlanta. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.")

It's something else when Antrel Rolle makes similar proclamations; his track record in such endeavors is far from spotless. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing.

The Redskins somehow managed to sweep the Giants this season and following their Week 1 win, Rolle went on the radio and said, "As a team and organization we know that the Washington Redskins are not a better team than us. We know that. Hands down. If we played them 100 times they might win five."

Washington would win again when the two teams met 14 weeks later.

Now, five days from the NFC Championship Game, Rolle is again making with the guarantees.

"I might be a little biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat,” Rolle said via the New York Daily News' Peter Botte. “We’re extremely confident and we’ve given ourselves the reasons to feel that way. We have to continue to give ourselves those reasons, and we will. We have no doubts. It’s right there at the tip of our tongues.”

Rolle's comments aren't unreasonable (well, except that part about winning being on the "tip of our tongues" -- but we knew what he meant); the Giants did just beat the defending Super Bowl champs who went 15-1 during the 2011 regular season. And unlike his observations about the Redskins' inadequacies, Rolle didn't call out the 49ers. He just spoke to how well New York has been playing.

“You can put an All-Star team in front of us, and we’re going to go out there and compete,” he continued. “We don’t fold. No matter what happens, if there’s a bad call, or things aren’t going our way, we’re not going to break. We’re not going to lose focus on what’s at stake and our ultimate goal.”

Rolle's right about that last part: the Giants were hosed twice against the Packers and it didn't matter; they still blew Green Bay out at home. There's something to be said for that, especially since New York has to travel to San Francisco next weekend.

And while we don't have any issues with Rolle's latest remarks, we'd still feel a lot better if they came from JPP. Because, really, there's nothing more shameful than getting called out by Rex Grossman for being bad at your job.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

metgiantranger- a culmination of teams well that have sucked since 2007. If the fact that you think I don't know the name of Akers is the best comeback you got, you better start sukin off David Wright and prayin for Gretzky. Are all you east coasters that thick?

Yep only a fool would call the NY Giants a team that has sucked since 2007 and not include his own 49ers. Afterall, the Giants went 39-25 since 2007 while the 9ers went 34-30. I mean if you want to boost about the 9ers due to their first year of being relevant since God knows when thats fine, but at least provide some facts and stop talking out of your A$$.

Niners 28,  NY Giants 24

btw, there is only one Giants team that means anything, and that's the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Anthill Rolle:  Can't be beat? Like 7 times this year?  5 "beats" in the last 10 games?  Can't be beat?

I love these types of post.....Your numbers mean nothing otherwise GB with their 1 loss would have won that game or ther 18-0 Pats or..well if your smart you can see how dumb and meaningless your comment is.

Well, true. You can't be beat until this weekend.......and then you will be beat......by the better team......

Hear that??? That's you making a prediction and not stating any facts.

the team that has been better than you all season long

Once again, meaningless....GB was better than every team all season long and that, along with smile, got them a free trip home.

....then Anthill, you can crawl into your mound with your other GI Ants and watch the SB on your big screen.

Trying to be creative with your play on words? It's clear now that your creativity is that of 1st grader. I am gussing the IQ is not that far behind.

By the way, is anyone from CBS Sports going to write something about the Niners?

No looking very hard are you?

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

It's good to see confindence in your team and teamates but maybe keep it to yourself and shame on CBS for the headline, got me to click on the story. And from what I seen last Sunday the G-men beat a GB team that was down and hadn't played a meaniful game in 2-3 months and add in the funeral.
The Packers were down????? Do you realize that they were the defending SB Champions and had a record of 15-1?????

Don't think the game will be close, all of the experts are predicting a Giant romp. The 9er season is coming to a close.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Why WOULDN'T he say that????  (and, btw, we know the headline quote was taken out of context) What's he going to say -"well, I think we've got a shot to win this one"...

Think about it... the guy is fired-up, focused and confident!  I say keep it going Antrel - whatever it takes to get pumped up!

The major difference here is that when a guy like Rex Ryan says this stuff - he's stating it based on hope and NOT FACT!  You have to admit it - the Giants are playing great and they are on a bigtime roll right now... fact!

Go Giants!  27-17 Giants win!

If the Gmen think they will move the ball like they have been against the 9ers D you are sadly mistaken, and for the guy who said Bradshaw is playing this tiem around for the gmen, who gives a rats a*s, you think he's a better runner than some of the guys they stopped all year, didn't allow 100 yard rusher till week 15, league low in TD's overall and not to mention sent the best offense home last week. This game will be a defensive battle and should be one hell of a game!

GO NINERS!

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Antrel Rolle needs to shut his mouth not because he made a guarantee, because he didn't, but he's acting like Rex Ryan in a Giants uniform. When you talk smack about the Redskins and get beaten down by them not once, but twice, you'd think you'd be tired of eating crow.

Statements like this will eventually bite you in the ass and you're only setting yourself up to look like a fool.
What Rolle said was "I might be a little biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat. We’re extremely confident and we’ve given ourselves the reasons to feel that way. We have to continue to give ourselves those reasons, and we will. We have no doubts. It’s right there at the tip of our tongues.”

He's not smack-talking. He's saying that in their minds, they can't be beat.  Not that they can't lose.  You morons need to stop reading soundbites instead of entire articles.  Maybe he should have said "Eh, we think we might be able to win it.  Its possible."?

If you want to remember someone who needed to shut up, maybe you should look at your golden boy Tom Brady?

"We're only going to score 17 points?"
