Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

It's one thing for Jason Pierre-Paul to declare that the Giants would beat the Packers because, well, he apparently knows what he's talking about. ("We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said after New York beat Atlanta. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.")

It's something else when Antrel Rolle makes similar proclamations; his track record in such endeavors is far from spotless. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing.

The Redskins somehow managed to sweep the Giants this season and following their Week 1 win, Rolle went on the radio and said, "As a team and organization we know that the Washington Redskins are not a better team than us. We know that. Hands down. If we played them 100 times they might win five."

Washington would win again when the two teams met 14 weeks later.

Now, five days from the NFC Championship Game, Rolle is again making with the guarantees.

"I might be a little biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat,” Rolle said via the New York Daily News' Peter Botte. “We’re extremely confident and we’ve given ourselves the reasons to feel that way. We have to continue to give ourselves those reasons, and we will. We have no doubts. It’s right there at the tip of our tongues.”

Rolle's comments aren't unreasonable (well, except that part about winning being on the "tip of our tongues" -- but we knew what he meant); the Giants did just beat the defending Super Bowl champs who went 15-1 during the 2011 regular season. And unlike his observations about the Redskins' inadequacies, Rolle didn't call out the 49ers. He just spoke to how well New York has been playing.

“You can put an All-Star team in front of us, and we’re going to go out there and compete,” he continued. “We don’t fold. No matter what happens, if there’s a bad call, or things aren’t going our way, we’re not going to break. We’re not going to lose focus on what’s at stake and our ultimate goal.”

Rolle's right about that last part: the Giants were hosed twice against the Packers and it didn't matter; they still blew Green Bay out at home. There's something to be said for that, especially since New York has to travel to San Francisco next weekend.

And while we don't have any issues with Rolle's latest remarks, we'd still feel a lot better if they came from JPP. Because, really, there's nothing more shameful than getting called out by Rex Grossman for being bad at your job.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Drew Brees also said that he was confidant that the Saints could win on the road and if they played the way they were capable of (what exactly does this phrase mean anyway? I see losers say this ALL THE TIME! But it does not mean a thing). But last I checked I saw Gregg Williams crying on the sidelines with less than 2 minutes to go.....and the game wasn't even decided by then.

The Giants just might defeat the 49ers, but to mouth off and say "yeah...we aah uh huh uh huh already beat the Patriots once this season and we will do it again. It's in the bag!".

But guess what Coach Bill is a brilliant coach and I doubt that Coughlin is up to the task. Give Coach Bill 2 weeks to prepare against a team and it will not be a cake walk like the NY Giants want you to believe.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Wow, it seems like we have a lot of 9er fans thinking that their version of a professional football team is fresh, rested and 100% focused and that their is no way that they are going to lose.  The stage is set for David vs Goliath part II with David (ELI) going out to sin city (Frisco) and defeating the California Goliath (49ers) with an eye opening, solid performance on his way to a Super Bowl Victory!  Eli and his GIANTS already cut the cheese in Greenbay and after they spank the baby niners and their odd ball coach it's on to beat the Pats in the Super Bowl.  The niners are due for a big let down and this is the week.

Don't say stupid stuff like this!  It just pisses the other teams off!  If your hunting a bear, do you think it would be smart to kick it in the nuts before you shoot it?  I wouldn't!  Think before you speak son, it's not that hard.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

seems like an odd comment coming from a guy who has mostly underachieved in the nfl. I admit the giants are good enough to win the SB but they are not any more dominate then any other team left in the playoffs. It would be sweet to see a rematch with NE though.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Anyone notice how the Giants are the only team talking smack this wek...Funny Stuff..Reminds me of High School when the one jerk-off keeps talking how he's going to beat the other kid down while the other kid just shows up for the after school fight just to shove his 9" shoe down the kid's big mouth. Obviously a different level here..BUT same concept..49ers aren't talking.they're fresh, smart and 100% focused. If there was any rust on my team it came off last weekend and still beat the most prolific offense so what does the Giants present the Saints don't ? A running game...LOL.. Keep talking Rolle's and company you'll take the same exit P. Thomas took when D. Whitner met him on the 2 yard line.

I suggest that the SF Defense may actually show up this week but we will see.

Depends on the team showing up.  I thinik the Giants have the better QB and defense is even.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

rolle should just focus on playing ball, cause he must have forgot that his quarterback is streaky as hell, he had a hell of a week against the packers but can easily go out and throw three interceptions this week, and they half to depend on eli cause the giants are going to half a tuff time running against the niners
