The Giants began practicing on Wednesday for Sunday's NFC Championship Game in San Francisco, and did so without quarterback Eli Manning, who was, according to our Giants Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin, limited at practice and then sent home with a stomach illness.

Fortunately for Manning, it doesn't appear to be something that will affect him throughout the week and is instead an illness of the 24-hour variety.

Tom Coughlin is sounded relatively optimistic when discussing the issue.

"Hopefully it's a 24-hour deal and he'll be better tomorrow," Coughlin said via Raskin.

Sending Manning home is a smart move on Coughlin's part, because there's simply no reason to risk him passing the virus/bug/whatever on to the other members of the Giants.

Manning, Brady both miss practice Wednesday

This isn't a big deal, but a very smart move by head coach Tom Coughlin to send Eli Manning home b/c you don't want that 24 hour bug spreading throughout your football team with game day approaching. Not everyone would get sick at the same time and that could have become a major issue if half the team ended up sick. Smart move and I hope Manning will be ready to roll by game time.

awwww whats the matter Eagles fan are your poor little feelings still hurt cuz your hyped up over rated and over paid team sucked the big one this year. hmm maybe if your non able to read a defense injury prone QB starts killing innocent dogs again you guys might win a few games. Then again probably not.

Eli's getting his pre-game pukes over with before the championship game, unlike Donovan McNabb who saved his upchuck for the SB huddle.

Bologna.  Manning is doing okay.  He probably left practice b/c he had other things to take care of.  It isn't like he needs the practice. The man is on fuego and he'll be on his A game come Sunday afternoon at the 'Stick.  What a game it will be.

Wow, true Eagles fan! Classy guy. Isn't it time to go kick someone when they are down or to step on a puppy?

Neither Big Ben nor Rivers are as good a passer as Stafford but I would give Ben the edge on Stafford due to winning. Rivers doesn't even have that. I wouldn't have Peyton on the list at all since you can not be certain that he will be back at all let alone what he will be like when he returns. I actually hope he is done not because I am not a fan (I'm not) but because I don't think you mess with a neck injury that requires repeated surgeries to repair. He has been one of the best of all time. I don't want to see him end up in a wheel chair.
