The Super Bowl matchup is set -- we've got all the best storylines in Sorting the Sunday Pile -- and the Patriots and Giants will square off in a rematch of the epic 2007 Super Bowl.

Championship Weekend Recap

The odds won't be tilted quite as heavily towards the Patriots this time, though, as New England's been installed as "only" a three-point favorite according to Sportsbook.com. R.J. Bell of PreGame.com notes that the Patriots are a 3.5-point favorite.

When the two teams met in 2007, the Patriots closed as 12-point favorites in Vegas, but, of course, ultimately ended up losing straight-up.

Bell notes that the Vegas favorite has won 33 of 45 Super Bowls in NFL history, or 73 percent of the games played.

"Historically, the point-spread is an unmatched predictor of NFL games," Bell notes.

Currently, the over/under for the Super Bowl is a whopping 55.5 points according to Sportsbook, which means Vegas expects to see plenty of scoring from the two teams. That's no surprise given the Eli Manning-Tom Brady matchup and the pair of explosive offenses featured by the two teams.

Speaking of big numbers, Bell projects that over $10 billion -- yes, with a "b" -- will be wagered on this year's Super Bowl.

13 points? YOu think the PAtriots, whose O-line hasta stop, not slow, but STOP, JPP, Osi, Tuck, Kiwinuka, Joseph, Canty, And Tollefsen, is going to beat the Ginats by THIRTEEN POINTS!? LMAO Ummm,, exactly what CBs in NE Uniforms are going to Stop Cruz, Nicks, and Manningham? If the Ginats can handcuff Jennings, Driver, Nelson, Jones, Finley, in GB.. i like their chances against Branch, Welker, and those TEs.

I wish I could be confident, but with Brady not being Brady, Gronk being banged up, Welker not catching balls like he was at the beginning of the season, and a cut Raiders practice squadder & a WR who couldn't win a starting job over Ochocinco leading our secondary against two of the most dynamic and talented young receivers I've seen in years (Nicks and Cruz), I'm just not seeing it.  Stupid people with money to burn will bet the Patriots because of their reputation the past decade, but any objective person has to see that we're really the underdogs here (and because we're perceived as the favorites we can't even get the underdog mentality going).  Flacco, Fitzgerald, and Matt Moore all looked like world-beaters against our defense, and I'm afraid Eli will look like Peyton on Superbowl Sunday.

That is a classy post by a good sports fan and a Giants fan. As a Patriots fan, I'm worried and confident at the same time. The Giants stopped us before and shocked everyone. That won't be the case this time. Another thriller in Manila. I can only hope they make you proud but lose to my team. cheers.

Super Bowl XLVI Odds: Patriots favored by 3.5

Question: When is the last time Belichick's Patriots lost to the same team three times in a row?
Answer:   Never. A lot of that can be thrown out in this game but it is an imposing stat.
New England with Brady playing QB is 124-35 in the regular season and 16-5 in the playoffs.  In 11 years the Patriots have won appoximately 80% of their games.

I just think that it is soooo Tom Brady not just to play the Superbowl (5 times in his 11 year career so far) but to have the only team to stop the Patriots from another league championship, has fallen on his lap for revenge.

I admi tthat I think the Patriots would be more favored if they played this week because Eli was really roughed up by the 49ers but the distraction of the undefeated season is not there ad unlike the 2007 season, The Patriots aren't coming out of their peak, the Defense may be entering it.

I am not convinced the Giants have figured out how to stop the two TE monsters, the Law Firm, Welker and Branch and the Patriots were missing 4 starting defensive players and the starting center when they lost earlier this year. All will be on the field on February 5th.

I respect the Giants but would rather be in the Patriots shoes. Let's see them beat the Pats three times in a row.

New England 33  NY Giants 20

If my life depended on it and I had to pick a team I'd pick the Giants straight up. But I wouldn't even bother betting just to double my money and get $20 or whatever. Future bets are the only bet that interest me, for instance at one point you could have gotten 100-1 odds on the Giants this year, then that little $20 bet suddenly looks pretty profitable.

well there New York Football Giants fan. very well said and level headed.  of course i am different, loyal, die hard Patriots fan.  like you, i'm not slinging monkey poop at Giants fans, or any other.  Congrats on the Giants getting there!!  I said before the Playoffs began and all seeds were sown up.  the Giants would be the only D to worry me, if and when the Patriots got there, and they did!   The Ravens were tough, i feel horrible for Cundiff.  maybe all these creeps who say Patriots won 2 of the 3 Superbowls by a FG will stfu now.
any ways, cant wait for the game now...sick and tired of all the talk already.  our D was pittiful all season.    Wilfork started swimming under water this year to gain lung capacity.  like anything, the more he did it...the more and more laps under water he was swimming.  he contributes this swimming to your exact statement of playing like he's 25.  He keeps saying how fresh he feels during the games.
Eli & Co. worry me a great deal!  although our run D is pretty good, the Giants run don't concern me.  the Pass D can be beat by the Helen Keller School for the blind.  Horrible...3rd and 25, just throw it, you'll get it.  4th and 30....ditto.

thats my concerns...and Brady taking another pre game suck pill.(sorry Tom)

other than that...good luck to you and the Giants, just not on Feb. 5th

Go Patriots!!
