Although Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared to suffer a bad ankle injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s AFC title win and although he was wearing a walking boot in the locker room after the game, a source tells the Boston Herald that Gronkowski will be ready to play in Super Bowl XLVI.

Championship Weekend Recap

“He’ll be ready to go,” the source told the Herald.

Gronkowski has become one of Tom Brady’s favorite receiving targets -- not to mention one of the two-best tight ends in the league -- and in New England’s win over the Ravens, he had five catches for 87 yards. Although he returned to the game after his injury, suffered when he was tackled awkwardly by Ravens safety Bernard Pollard, he didn’t catch any other passes.

But with two weeks to heal before the NFL’s final game of the season, Gronkowski has some time to get his ankle well. Which obviously would be great news for Brady and the Patriots

Report: Gronk's ankle will be OK for Super Bowl

I don't see Gronk sitting this one out.  Big Ben has set the standard for playing with a severe ankle injury and I can't see Gronkowski not helping his team.  Big Ben is the toughest QB in the league and he plays with a lot of heart and I'm sure Gronk will follow Ben's example and play even if his foot were falling off.  It's gonna be a good game but I have NY GIANTS winning it (apologies to NE).  Pollard plays hard and he knows how to tackle someone and me being Cheapshotvinney I can tell you he was trying to get Gronk out of the game!  I want Pollard on my team!

Report: Gronk's ankle will be OK for Super Bowl

Be it healed or not Gronk will play "Like he is 100 percent" pain killers and all. No way he does not put it all out there knowing that this may be his only chance to bring home a ring. Not a Pats fan,  but "IF" Brady get his shoulder back in shape, Pats win. People forget the 2007 Super Bowl Brady was playing on a broken foot. Welker will get 10 or more catches to beat the pass rush.

Pats 31   -  Giants 27

Report: Gronk's ankle will be OK for Super Bowl

Gronk is about 6 inches taller than the average D-Back covering him.  He has freakishly long arms like Kevin McHale.  And his hands can palm a medicine ball.  All he has to do is hop on one foot 6 yards down the field and let Brady put it up in the air.  The Giants are going down!!!!!

Gronk at 70% is still better than most tight ends at 100%. Giants will have their hands full covering him.

Last year Pouncy said the same thing for the steelers when he had about the same injury.
Plus, as a receiving TE running is his main concern and a bad ankle can make a huge difference.
Of course you want the guy to play, but anything can happen in two weeks, he could retweak it in practise or he could be completely fine.
In my opinion he is the deal breaker, if he is healthy he gives NE the edge, but if he can't play or play well the Giant defense has the tools to deal with Welker and Hernandez, but not those two and Gronk.

Have to get Pollard out of the game of football.  The guy is a one person wrecking crew.  First he takes out Brady's ACL with a cheapshot blow to the side of the knee with his helmet, causing him to miss an entire season, now, for another team, I thought he took our Gron's knee, he grotesquely turned his ankle over.  Pollard is dangerous.  Who does he injure next?

They were all clean tackles you whiny little punk. They are all reviewed by the NFL and football is a violent game and it is obvious by your statement you never played the game and you are probably a Pats fan since 2001. Go watch Golf or Billiards if you can't watch clean hits without acting like a little girl.

Really IBprofen!  No Knowledgable traininer or MD would suggest that! It will just thwart the healing process!  The inflammatory reponse is there for a reason!  If anything they may use a topical for a more local, not systemic, effect!  Still may shot him up before the game!  PRICE is the way to decrease edema but you want the inflammatory process to do it's job or you won't have proper healing!  I'm neither a pats or giants fan but my prediction is NE 31 to 24!
