Matthew Broderick is embracing an old role for a Super Bowl commercial, as he'll be playing the role of Ferris Bueller for an as-yet-unknown advertiser.

We know this because "Coming Soon" recently posted a 10-second teaser for an advertisement (yes, these are things now apparently).

In the clip (below), Broderick walks to the window and opens up the shades to his room, reciting a familiar quote from the move, with a small change.

Then we get the *bow-bow ... chicka-chicka-ka* tune annnnnnd scene.

What's the advertisement for? No one knows. My best guess is Holiday Inn Express, although I like Five-Hour Energy as a dark horse. Mrs. Brinson thinks it's vacation-related (Expedia and/or something with really quick booking) since he's going to inevitably skip work to go and have fun. But she's also smarter than me.

Leave your guesses in the comments after you fire up the nostalgia machine, and just be glad Broderick's finally embracing the only role he'll ever be known for.

dang SB commercials have been in the toilet in terms of quality for about half a decade now.  I wish they'd have left the cat in the bag on this one as it seems to have some potential but the surprisefactor would have made it better.

also throw election into the list of good Broderick movies

I wonder if they got Alan Ruck and Mia Sara for the commercials too?

OOps.  Didn't see this response.  Could be Honda, which actually could make for more entertaining commercials.  I mean, if they plan to recreate the jump, for example....

I heard this could be an ad campaign from Honda.  I'm wondering if there will be a number of "Ferris" commercials featuring different "exploits" ?

Sorry, what I really meant was that Broderick is constantly harassed by people who are like "Bueller? Bueller?" and other quotes. I read an interview where he said literally every day people find a way to mention the movie to him.

It's not really fair to say that the Ferris Bueller role is the only one that Broderick will be remembered for...although the film has become something of a cult classic  and will no doubt be the one he is MOST associated with.  But he did some very good (and yes, even "memorable") work in Biloxi Blues, and most notably, in Glory, as the white commander of the Black Civil War regiment.  The star was Denzel Washington(he still says it is his favorite role), but Broderick's character added a strong dimension to the movie, which is undeniable.
