Former Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians left the team under suspicious circumstances: first he was retiring, then he was fired, then he said he "wasn't offered a contract" ... it was all really weird and awkward. And it's not making Ben Roethlisberger happy.

And Roethlisberger, apparently, is going to march right up to Art Rooney II's office and ask him what's going on.

"When I get back, I'm going to go up to Mr. Rooney's office and ask him what he wants from me, what he wants from this offense, because I think that's a viable question for him," Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Thursday in Honolulu. "He's our owner and our boss, so I really would like to know kind of what he wants and where he sees our offense going because I'd like to tell him where I see us going."

Rooney previously cited the points scored by the Steelers in 2011 as an issue with Arians. And the owner has a fair point, as the Steelers only ranked as a top-10 unit once under Arians, which was during his first year in 2007 when they were ninth in the NFL in scoring.

However, Football Outsiders ranks the Steelers as a top-10 unit in DVOA every year of Arians tenure but one. And there's little question that under Arians, the Steelers moved from a traditional ground-and-pound stereotype that people attach to Pittsburgh to a full-on aerial assault.

"We feel like we are really close to being an elite offense," Roethlisberger told the Tribune-Review. "For your leader to be gone is kind of a shocker, but you've got to be ready for whatever the Rooneys and coach [Mike] Tomlin decide it our next step."

Roethlisberger has consistently defended Arians over the past, and the T-R notes that he was taking him to Hawaii as one of his guests for the Pro Bowl until things got murky with his contract situation.

Ben's job is certainly safer. But he's not exactly doing himself any favors with the way he's phrasing his "request" for a meeting with Rooney.

Arians is an idiot and doesn't know how to call plays that fits the offense. I can't believe Ben defends the guy and wants him back. When does the Steeler offense play the best? When Big Ben is in the no huddle calling the plays himself. This is clearly evident by the fact that he probably has the best fourth quarter comebacks per start in NFL history. Ben has 26 and Favre who had a bizillion morer starts has just 41 and there aren't many who have more than 41. Who needs a fat OC on hte sidelines calling plays? Let the QB who is seeing the action do it. Bradshaw called his own plays and you know what that result was.

mem-

I would answer that question if I felt it deserved one. However, if your question was a serious one, you understand noting in life or you're just plain stupid. Either way, a reasonable answer would never be understood by someone like you.

So, another big mouth Quarterback opens his mouth and proves once again that QB's should play the position and leave the hiring and firing to the front office. Hey Roethlisberger, you have proved time and time again that you're no mensa. Maybe if you would have rested your ankle, your team would still be playing. The QB's of this league are so pampered, that they actually think going behind the headcoach right up to the owner, won't affect their relationship! I'm just wondering if there are any players in ANY professional sports, that realize that they are just cogs in a machine. Some more valuable than others, but none that cannot be replaced. In a few weeks, you can ask Peyton Manning that.

Please explain who he raped. I guess you never had a drunk chick come on to you in a bar and when you didn't call her claim rape. You people who keep brining this up are just haters who don't pay attention.

Were you paying attention when it was reported that Ben just settled one of the cases out of court with the woman and paid her a settlement ?? If Ben were innocent, why would he do that ?? He can afford the best lawyers to twist everything the woman says and get him off right ??

Seriously, when you see behavior like this from Ben, how can you have any doubts about his boorish behavior around women and whether he's capable of sexual assault? The ego and sense of entitlement is astounding.  He could stand to have someone kick him to the curb.  The suspension obviously hasn't had much of an impact.

Rooney is right in canning Ariens and Ben needs to worry about doing his job or he may be next to go.
You do not go over your head coach and to the media. Keep things of this nature in house.
Ariens play calling was terrible all year. Red zone produtivity was zero not to mention clock control.
A soft schedule is the only reason they finised 12-4. A season full of injuries mostly on the O line because
Ben can't decide what to do with the ball. Those extended plays everyone raves about and credit Ben for
is one of the reasons for so many injuries on the line,to Ben and the defense who have to play more due to
the failure to convert 3rd downs. Ariens and Ben are the weak links on this team. One is gone one left!!!!
