2011 wasn't Peyton Hillis' year. But maybe 2012 already got him clear of the Madden Curse, as the Browns reportedly want to re-sign the running back, despite his injuries during the previous season.

That's according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, who reports that Hillis "worked his way back into the team's good graces" over the final six weeks of the season, and that Cleveland would like him back in 2012.

Hillis struggled with injuries, a belief that he was soft, playing time, and all the other things that accompany the Madden Curse in 2011. After busting out for 1,177 yards in 2011, Hillis took a major step back in 2012, rushing for just 587 yards in 10 games, nine of which he started.

At one point, he was the embodiment of Cleveland athletics, a blue-collar guy whose style of running fit perfectly with the way Cleveland sees itself. Which is precisely why the Browns kept saying they'd re-sign him.

That they're now interested in locking up Hillis again is interesting, but perhaps the timing of the interest is obvious, given how much cheaper  Hillis will be to sign than he was a year ago at this time.

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

Yes and New England is much the same as Indianapolis...they're built around Tom Brady and when he is gone, they will be sucking hind tit just like the Colts have after losing Manning.  You must have play makers on all 3 sides of the ball and should NEVER build a team around one player!

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

I would hate to be Colt McCoy or Peyton Hillis having to deal with the O line in Cleveland.  No wonder they get hurt.  McCoy is a good QB but he has little protection.  Hillis is an outstanding hall of fame caliber RB but very few backs can run unless the O line creates a hole to run through.  Hillis is the exception to that rule because the yardage he gets, is almost exclusively of his own doing.  Why else is he dragging defenders down hill with him?  Because, without the O line creating holes for him to run through, he has no choice but to run over folks and he does it quite well I might add.  Cleveland should be ashamed.  Peyton gave them 1600+ total yardage and 13 TD's and 2010 which is something few backs ever do; even backs that are paid multi-million dollar salaries and Cleveland got it all for $455,000.  Then the man asks to get paid and they talk of cutting him.  No wonder Cleveland is near the bottom all the time!  Secondly...Shurmur needs to utilize Hillis' skill set which includes some of the softest hands in football.  Mangini utilized that but Shurmur wouldn't throw to Hillis even when all of his receivers were dropping balls left and right.  I just don't understand Shurmur at all.  I sincerely hope Peyton leaves Cleveland and goes to a team that will appreciate his talent and pay him accordingly.  He deserves much better than Cleveland has to offer right now!

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

You know what brother...although I'd rather see Peyton Hillis with my team (Cowboys), I'd be more than happy to see my friend play in Pittsburgh.  His style fits the Steelers to a T and, they have the mone to pay the man what he's worth.  Hopefully they will go after him!

And for all those who want to bash Hillis for sitting out when he had strepthroat.  Shut the **** up until you've had the illness.  I've had it and there were hundreds of pus pockets in my throat and my throat was so swollen and sore it was impossible to eat and nearly impossible to drink water; not to mention a 105.6 fever.  You can't play tiddlywinks with strepthroat; let alone, pro football.  One other thing...Peyton is a work horse.  He has to be because the Cleveland O line is sick at best.  Seldom is there a hole for him to run though.  That's why he runs over people and carries a half dozen people down hill with him.  PAY THE MAN FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

What do you know about Peyton Hillis' attitude?  You won't find more of a respectful Christian man than Peyton Hillis.  I know him so I am qualified to report on his attitude and I will defend the man to my death!

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

Amen brother...Amen to most of what you said.  I know Peyton Hillis because he attends my church in the off season when possible.  I am surprised he would want to stay in Cleveland after the way he's been treated.  Cleveland treated him exactly as Denver did.  He was on track for a 1000+ yard year in 2008 when he was injured and had to sit out the remainder of the season.  Mike Shanahan utilized ALL of Peyton's assets.  Then in 2009, Josh McDaniels sat Peyton on the bench most of the year.  He got less than 60 total yards.  How stupid was that!  What did Cleveland do after his breakout 2010 season.  There was NO appreciation whatsoever and the part that angers me, they got over 1600 yards total offense and 13 TD's out of him for $455,000.  Other backs doing that well are making multi million dollars per year!  I actually want him to leave Cleveland.  Mangini was aware of all that Peyton brought to the table and utilized all his talents to include throwing to him out of the back field and on the line.  Shurmur wouldn't even throw to him when ALL of his receivers were dropping passes.  The man is clueless!  Hillis makes the offense...it is no secret that when Hillis in in the game, the offense is far better than without him.  SO MY ADVISE TO ANY TEAM WHO WANTS PEYTON HILLIS...PAY THE MAN WHAT HE'S WORTH and my advise to Peyton...LEAVE CLEVELAND!

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

The Browns are the scum of the NFL. They nearly killed Hillis and McCoy by the way they overused them over the past two seasons and have nothing to show for it. I would hope they want Hillis back because they sure don't have anything else. Hillis, however, should run out the door as fast as possible. He can have his choice of teams and hopefully not one that kills their stars trying to when even when they are rebuilding, Mike Holmgren is a classless jerk for the way he fired Mangini without even giving him a real chance, only to hire the joke he did, Pat Shurmur. I don't think this guy could coach middle school football, he is absolutely clueless. I bet they all want Peyton Hillis on the team, he makes them look good. But Hillis should definitely not want to play for these bumbling idiots.
