2011 wasn't Peyton Hillis' year. But maybe 2012 already got him clear of the Madden Curse, as the Browns reportedly want to re-sign the running back, despite his injuries during the previous season.

That's according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, who reports that Hillis "worked his way back into the team's good graces" over the final six weeks of the season, and that Cleveland would like him back in 2012.

Hillis struggled with injuries, a belief that he was soft, playing time, and all the other things that accompany the Madden Curse in 2011. After busting out for 1,177 yards in 2011, Hillis took a major step back in 2012, rushing for just 587 yards in 10 games, nine of which he started.

At one point, he was the embodiment of Cleveland athletics, a blue-collar guy whose style of running fit perfectly with the way Cleveland sees itself. Which is precisely why the Browns kept saying they'd re-sign him.

That they're now interested in locking up Hillis again is interesting, but perhaps the timing of the interest is obvious, given how much cheaper  Hillis will be to sign than he was a year ago at this time.

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

mczest - no disrespect intended but I don't know the guy. He isn't a household name, not this household at least.
I am CERTAIN I missed quite few good Browns players, even HOF guys. Apologies extended.

That said, I do recall most of the Brown's backs mentioned earlier in this thread.
I wasn't born until the late 60's, so obviously I missed out on that golden era.

Hillis would be a phenomenal replacement to Jacobs and compliment to Bradshaw. Take a look at him G-Men!

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

The fact is RB is a position of need for the Browns and Hillis would fill that void and potentially return to his 2010 self and overpower defenses.  Cleveland's front office will try and lure him in with an incentive laden contract and hope he bites so they aren't forced to draft another RB or find one in free agency.  With Hillis back in Cleveland it would open up the option for them to draft a QB and WR early in the draft.

I didn't realize that Peyton Hillis had a superpower.  He can time-travel?

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

The Browns are doing one of three things here with this.

One: Sign Hillis and then draft RG3 with the first pick and a receiver with the second pick.
Two: Sign Hillis and trade the first pick (to Washington since they want RG3) draft a receiver with the first pick and best available with the second pick.
Three: They will use this Hillis rumor to sway Washington or someone else to move up in the draft since it will look like for sure the Browns will take RG3. The Browns could then turn around, not sign Hillis, draft Richardson and then a receiver with the second pick they have in the first round.

Report: Browns now want Peyton Hillis back

Apparently this article is spot on. Hillis did work his way back into everyone's good graces from the posts below. Cleveland fans, this is thee guy who sat out with a sore throat. The Browns are hoping to get the 1000 yard rusher Peyton Hillis for the 500 yard prices. The problem is, Mr. Attitude will just hold out when he does churn a ton of yards for you.
