LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS -- LeSean McCoy had a heck of a season in 2011, rushing for 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns. It netted him the FedEx Ground Player of the Year on Wednesday at the Super Bowl. And it also landed him a trip to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.

While there, McCoy was on the NFC team that Aaron Rodgers believes should be "embarrassed" by a lack of effort. Actually, he was "one of those guys" that didn't try, and said so himself on Wednesday.

"Yeah? I'm one of those guys," McCoy said when asked about Rodgers comments. "You walk around every practice and the guys before the games on other teams are like 'take your time' because we're going on a very slow pace, very easy.

"And you get out there and you see guys half-doing it and you do the same thing."

It's not like this should be too big a surprise: the quality of the game is directly related to the intensity of the effort when it comes to the Pro Bowl, and that's exactly why it was a sloppy boring game that drew criticism from everyone remotely involved in the process. (That the game still managed to pull big ratings should tell you exactly how popular the NFL is.)

With all the complaints from fans and the media -- and some players -- it wouldn't be surprising to find out that McCoy's comments didn't sit well with the league, even if he is just talking about an All-Star Game.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

Now even the players are saying the Pro Bowl was a joke.  I like the suggestion of like they do in MLB with the Golden Glove Award.  This award is bestone to the player deserving the recognition but that is it.  There is no golden glove game.  Does it lessen the award by not having a game.  Not at all.  So NFL, get smart and listen to the fans and players...kill the Pro Bowl Game.  Only the rich corporate sponsors will have their feelings hurt, but then again there are many places and ways to spend the consumers money elsewhere.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

Of course he did not try. Did any of them? If you watched this game you have no life and wasted 3 hours of it. This is just a cash grab by the NFL.  The league should just name the rosters and forget about the game just like they do for the All-Pro team.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

What an, "only in their dreams" team loser... They should make this game, "Winner take ALL" Then they know the players that are there are going to give it 100% Instead of getting these million dollar pansies on the field. Even if it`s an All star game, players need to show they really care, and prove to the fans they are the best at their position. No doubt, next year, if pansy mccoy leads the league in rushing, he won`t get any votes outside of the bandwagon fans of the "only in their dreams team"

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

Terrible terrible all star game, but if I may, why is it now that Rodgers is complaining that the entire league should feel the need to meet his standards? He wasn't even supposed to be at this game a few weeks ago! Fact of the matter is its' just really hard to do an exhibition game in this hard and physical league. What happens when one of those really serious injuries happens in the pro bowl...does everybody complain that this game needs to be toned down? Like as a Jets fan, if Revis snapped an achilles or broke a femur in that game, I know i'd be hella pissed, and you all would be pissed if your teams' best player suffered a career-threatening injury.

Really, this game just needs to be cancelled. Find a way to name the teams, because elite players deserve recognition, but just without playing this game

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

I can't blame the players for not wanting to get hurt.  If they do then the NFL and their owner/team will forget them fast.  Why not turn it into something that players can compete and have fun?  Remember MTV Rock N Jock softball?  Why not flag football?  Or a skills contest?

It's obvious that the NFL doesn't care what happens to the players and the players don't care about the NFL Pro Bowl, so why not sit down and find a compromise?

Or just keep doing the same thing every year, and continue to have this same conversation every year.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl is supposed to be fun and a recognition of the players' efforts, but like someone else said, they are actually being paid a lot of money to be there. It was part of the new CBA agreement. If they are going to pay them, the players should at least give a good effort. Or just cancel the game altogther, which is probably the best option.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

LeSean McCoy has fessed up.  Would Cam Newton please stand up? I saw the level of play in the NFC drop off a cliff when the ball was given to Newton.  How did he get the invite again?  How did Stafford not go over Newton?  Heck, Romo should have gone instead of Newton.

Nice McCoy.  He should be banned from ever going again to this joke of a game.  Also, make him pay back the 25K he got for not trying.  Last, fine the hell out of him for being such an embarassment to the League.  No wonder the "Dream Team" did so well this year.  It carries over, so don't try to tell me that he only did it in this exhibition game, etc... True winners who compete, do so ALWAYS.  This tells me that I would never want this douche on my team.  Period.
