The idea of Peyton Manning playing for a team other than the Colts in 2012 seems like a lock after all the back and forth between Manning's camp and Jim Irsay in Indianapolis this week. One team that's always mentioned as a possible landing spot for Manning is the Miami Dolphins, and over the past two days, the notion of Manning's gotten revved up a little bit.

Latest from the Super Bowl

There's a report Sunday from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, where Jackson writes that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is "infatuated with the idea of signing" Manning.

Adding fuel to the fire is a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the Dolphins are on the "short list" of teams that Manning has interest in, if/when he leaves the Colts.

The marriage makes sense: Manning owns a condo in South Beach so he's familiar with the area. The Dolphins have a decent set of weapons headlined by Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush. Miami already has a good defense.

Much still has to unfold with Manning, and the pursuit of No. 18 could potentially blow up in the Dolphins face. Manning could be released as late as March 8; free agency begins on March 13. If Ross and Jeff Ireland chase Manning and fail to get him, Packers backup and would-be free-agency cash cow Matt Flynn could sign elsewhere.

That's not a situation that will make anyone's heart flutter in South Beach.

If the guy can't throw the ball, you can have him.  I love Peyton in Indy and have to say he has not been the easiest to deal with lately for Colts.  What is Irsay supposed to do?  Sign a guy that cannot throw the ball?  For an amount of cash that would absolutely leave you with no choices if he cannot play up to par?  Colts have been left without a choice here and Peyton is not the victim.  He has done a lot for the Colts, but to play the "poor me" card is ridiculous and who knows?  He may TRY to play, but he may flop.....really hard.

The Card do play indoors (retractable roof). If the roof is open that means the desert weather is perfect. Not only that but they play on natural grass. The also play Seattle and StL on the road indoor. That is a guaranteed 10 games in ideal conditions. The only annual "bad weather" possibility is SF. Not too bad. Come West, (not so) young man!

Cards do not play indoors and Jets are in decline. Manning should come get some sun, have some Rum Runners, and put Flipper on his helmut and take back the east.

Report: Fins owner Ross 'infatuated' with Peyton are entitled to your opinion....even if you are responding in a delusional manner. The Cardinal's are "a rapidly improving young defense that plays indoors in a weaker division"....better than the Dolphins defense? I don't think anyone would rate their defense as superior to Miami's D. The Fins can counter "one stud WR- Fitzgerald" with one of their own in Brandon Hartline and Bess are as good as any of the Cardinal WR', their RB position is stronger with Bush getting more yards and a better average than Wells. Not to mention that Bush does more as a receiver than Wells and can return kicks too. The Dolphins have the defense, rushing attack (even with their rookie RB missing over half the year), a new offensive-minded head coach coupled with an OC in Sherman that loves high-flying offense. It's a good fit for Manning and he might even bring along a good friend and fellow U of M alumni in Reggie Wayne too!

I do agree with you that if Manning goes to the would be a bigger mistake than going to the Cardinals. Plus, I don't think he'd go to NY for the same reason that Eli Manning did not attend the University of Tennessee.....did not want to compete with his brother Peyton. I think that will be the same sentiment that keeps Peyton out of NY....unless that is his only option.

Miami would be the perfect destination for him. I can't imagine being stuck with the 2nd coming of AJ Feeley again down here with Matt Flynn, which nobody has ever heard of except 1 game he played in Green bay. The Fish are a top notch QB and right offensive line touch up and they are ready to roll.

I don't buy the whole "he has a condo there and is familiar with the area" as a legit case for Manning to Miami Bush is what he alway was over hyped Williams sucks and Marshall is well maybe the only legit weapon on that team Dolphins a good defense since when???  How many people had the Dolphins D on their fantasy D this year lol....Now with that being said if you're looking per talent  KC makes the most sense.  1) IF Charles comes back 100% from his acl one of the most devstating backs in the game 2) Healthy Moeaki to add to a plethora of Wide receiver weapons and a young, sterling Defense lead by Hali, Johnson, Carr, Flowers and a Returning Berry  3) KC is one of few teams that could pay 30 mill to a QB up front no problem.  The only problem is that will Pioli trade what the Colts would want for him and that answer is NO...and that's sad...Cheifs stuck another year with Cassel...that's pathetic at least it will cost pioli his job after the 2012 a Chiefs fan why should we route for the Chiefs they are bringing in Former Patriot employees left and right former patriot coaches, management etc why not cut out the middle man and just route for the patriots...and not New England West?

If Manning goes to the Dolphins they better use their first 3 picks on pass protecting line man....they allowed 52 sacks last year (30th in the league) and teams know exactly to find him...he's gonna get killed! If he's not taking sacks he'll still spend a lot of time on his butt and the coaching staff is gonna hold their breath praying he'll get up.

Houston - Sscaub isn't coming back.  His injury is one that is nearly impossible to recover from.  The Texans will need a legit QB and Manning will fit in perfectly.

You mean the same injury that Dwight Freeney came back from and Ahmad Bradshaw rested through to return to play this year? A lis-franc injury? Yeah, recovery is just unheard of. Tard.
