INDIANAPOLIS -- Last Sunday's Pro Bowl was a sloppily-played joke of a game that was ripped by fans and the media. Aaron Rodgers came out and said some of his NFC teammates should be "embarrassed" by the way they played. LeSean McCoy told us that he was "one of those guys" who didn't try.

Which may explain why Roger Goodell said on Sunday morning that the NFL is "considering eliminating" the Pro Bowl.

Latest from the Super Bowl

"I really didn't think that was the kind of football that we want to be demonstrating for our fans," Goodell said on Mike and Mike Sunday morning. "And you heard it from the fans. The fans were actively booing in the stands. They didn't like what they were seeing."

At the very least, Goodell said, something's going to change or the game will go away.

"We're either going to have to improve the quality of what we're doing in the Pro Bowl or consider other changes or even considering eliminating the game if that's the kind of quality game we're going to provide," Goodell said. "I know players love to be in Hawaii but we have to start with the quality of what we're doing.

"If the fans are responding negatively to what we're doing, we better listen. And that was my message."

Say whatever you want about Goodell (and if you're a Steelers fan, you'll probably say a lot), but the guy knows how to make the game of football more popular. If getting rid of the Pro Bowl does that, then Goodell won't hesitate to do so.

Goodell: NFL 'considering eliminating' Pro Bowl

But it is two teams comprised of players from most of the teams, so how would you award draft picks?  That is crazy.  Indy had the worst record, and as such, likely had no or few pro bowlers.  So they would benefit from the AFC winning the game?
First of all, you change the way the top picks are awarded.  You do it like the NBA does and have a lottery with the 5 or 6 lowest teams.  The worse you finish, the more tickets you get in the lottery.  If say the AFC won, you could add an extra ticket to the AFC teams lottery chances or something similar.  It doesn't specifically have to be draft picks or order, but there needs to be a carrot big enough for players and thier owners to actually care about the game at least 10%.  It isn't a perfect idea, but something needs to be done, even if it is wrong.

Goodell: NFL 'considering eliminating' Pro Bowl

While the player-fan interaction and skill challenges are interesting, The game in it's current state is horrible. The defensive players that earn their spot in the pro bowl have to take it up the arse for 60 minutes. It's completely disrespectful to them that they are not able to play the tenacious game that they brought all year. Bump the Pro-Bowl so that it's played after the Superbowl so that we don't have to see the "scab" picks. Make the game competetive with defense and incentives to play hard or take the pads and helmets off and play flag football. It's supposed to be entertaining not the defense getting abused every play.

Goodell: NFL 'considering eliminating' Pro Bowl

Oh god Goodell is once again a moron. He is the one that moved the Pro Bowl away from Hawaii in the first place, then when he got compliants moved it back, but put it BEFORE the Super Bowl...which was just as dumb of a move to begin with as it made sure the players in the Super Bowl couldn't participate. What they need to do, like many of the fixes that need to be done is go way back. Put the Pro Bowl two weeks AFTER the Super Bowl, and keep it in Hawaii. To put a little twist on it, why not make it the winner of the Pro Bowl get something more then just a 'thank you' check. extra draft picks maybe...I dunno that would have to be discussed later, but make the Pro Bowl count and you'd get better play. Still I think Goodell is a disgrace to football and sports commissioners worldwide.

Goodell: NFL 'considering eliminating' Pro Bowl

Its easy to be critical of the players effort until someone from your favorite team gets seriously hurt. Asking players to play hard and risk injury is ridiculous as long as contracts are not garanteed.  Acknowledgement of the players who made the team is all that is necessary, since about 33% of the players select decline to play anyway.

The probowl is a joke and some of the players that are there are only there base on popularity.  The probowl should be an event where the leagues "best" are our there displaying the skills that got them there yet what I saw was too many players simply walking around and letting people run free; pretending to be "busy" is almost as annoying as watching Madonna "lip sync" at the superbowl.  If these so-call all-stars are not willing to tackle or take some risk to entertain the fans, this game should be eliminated as it serves no purpose for fans or for anyone; not to mention the thousands of $ people spend (traveling and paying to see this game) to watch a half-a$$ players walk around.  Maybe bring back the skills competitions during this week and have a quick announcement during the half-time of the superbowl to name and honor the probowlers nstead of force-feeding all the fans with the ridiculous half-time show that NFL has been giving to us lately.

Goodell: NFL 'considering eliminating' Pro Bowl

Eliminating the Pro Bowl will be the only common sense thing this puppet will have ever done. This will be the very last of that crap I will ever watch. This man is a joke of a commissioner...another reason my interest in the NFL has almost fallen off drastically. The NFL has become soo generic...plain vanilla and robotic-predicatble play calling and over paid prima donas...there are many other fans who have lost their interest too. Many of today's players do not play as hard as they did in college...in fact some of their agents tell them to wrachet it down a notch to extend their carreers-you can see it in their play. College football is where its at, much more exciting! Anyone else feel this way?

The Pro Bowl SHOULD get axed.

It's certainly not going to get better. There's no way to improve an exhibition.
I disagree.  You could improve an exhibition easily.  Put some skin in the game for the teams.  Give the outcome draft order implications or something substantial enough to make it worth the players' while to do their best.  I bet if playing well and/or winning for your conference pushed you up the draft board owners and coaches would make sure the game wasn't the fiasco that it was this year!
