Todd Haley's going to have a new gig in 2012 and it's a pretty good one: he's headed to Pittsburgh to take over as offensive coordinator after Bruce Arians recently "retired" to take the Colts job.

“I am excited about the opportunity to come back home and work for a tremendous organization,” Haley said in a statement. “It is an honor to work with the Rooney family and Coach Tomlin and continue the success that has become synonymous with the Steelers. My father has so many fond memories both from his playing days and his time in the personnel department with the team, and I look forward to helping bring more championships to Pittsburgh and to being a part of one of the storied franchises in the NFL.”

When Haley was head coach of the Chiefs, his team never finished with a passing offense ranked any higher than 25th. And Haley topped out at ranking 18th in passing attempts in his first year in KC.

But while he was with the Cardinals, under former Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, Haley slung the ball around like crazy. Arizona, at the time with Kurt Warner, finished second in passing attempts both seasons and was top 10 in the league in points scored both seasons.

Ben Roethlisberger, Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders provide a much closer approximation to those Warner teams than Matt Cassell and Dwayne Bowe do.

We'd heard word that Haley was interviewing with the Cards, but also that Haley didn't want to take anything less than a coordinator job. Pittsburgh gives him a fantastically soft landing spot after a rough tenure with KC.

It also means that both Roethlisberger (unhappy with Arians departure) and Art Rooney (wanting more points) should be happy. So it's a great fit, as long as there aren't any big ego clashes and the Steelers don't bug Haley's cell phone. Allegedly.

You act as if I'm touting Baltimore's dominance based on championships. I've been talking about this past season and the future, especially with the idiotic hiring of TODD HALEY!!! Typical...figures as much that you'd get sensitive over this signing and would have to say "Well in past years...". Stick to the here and now bro. And yes, it is true Max, I've proven that I am far superior in intelligence than you are.

Last 6 Super Bowl winners.

Super Bowl XLVI-   Giants
Super Bowl XLV-  Packers (Beat the Steelers)
Supr Bowl XLIV- Saints
Super bowl XLIII- Steelers
Super Bowl XLII- Giants
Super Bowl XLI-  Colts

They have one once in the past 6 Super bowls. If you were smart you'd have gone to 7 so you could include Super Bowl XL, that was marred with terrible officiating. Then again, I don't expect anyone with your intelligence to be able to count that high. So again, you tried to be a smart a$$ and go put in your place. If I were you, I'd stop while you are behind.

(2 more than balt) anyways i know that anything with more than 4 letters is a big word for folks like you so i a--pol--o--gize for that

Actually if you knew how to read, you'd see that the joke was already made. You can keep throwing around "big" words from your merriam webster all you want, but you've already shown your true colors on the boards. You're a typical sleezeball, so if you wanted to do your own fan base a favor, you'd keep your mouth shut because it's fans like you that make Steelers fans seem like big mouth scumbags. What happened in the last 6 years? You won one SB...good job. I just gave props to that in one of my past posts. Other than that you've lost against the packers and havent been there otherwise in the past 6 Superbowls. Again please stay off the boards. I'd rather talk to COMPETENT Steelers fans. At least arguments with them are intellectual and fun, whether I win or lose. With you, it's just too easy to smack you into the turf, and boring hearing you swear every other word.

hey jacka$$ your "team" is a reject from the city of CLEVELAND--hahahahahahahaha---glory

days of 70s--guess the last 6 years dont count. Dont let any facts get in the way of you spitting out garbage but then you are a baltimore fan.   next up will be the inevitable rapistburger joke right.  Loser city--loser fans. Please dont respond anymore--your ignorance is really not endearing. now take off your ray lewis (class act there huh) and take a rest--you have been thinking too much today.

Oh max max max,
It's Steelers fans like you that give the city a bad name. If you want to live in the past go ahead and completely ignore any relevant point I mad against you. Your team is in a downward spiral. Unless they address your aging stars, you will have another season of getting swept by the Ravens and getting knocked out in the first round by QB's like the Steelers. Your glory days were all the way back in the 70's. I'll give your team an amazing win against Arizona back in superbowl XLIII, but against the seahawks??? Please....that game is marred with so much controversy it's not even funny. Remeber big boy, my team has only been around for 16 seasons and yours 80. Plenty of time to catch up to your franchise in titles.

hey ravens 1113--you cant be serious can you--2 reg seasons wins and your hanging your (probably very small) hat on that--this is the difference between Pit and balt in a nutshell--you all are happy with a couple of wins in one season---seems to me we smacked your ass over the last few years including playoff games--does last years playoff game or the prior afc championship game bring back memories you dork----i know, i know---this is history.  but boy it sure is nice having a history that is filled more with successes than CHOKES.  BTW-- here is hoping Ozzie Osbourn Newsome signs Joe CHOKO to the longest contract possible.
