On Wednesday, the New York media hounded Giants players for their thoughts on Gisele ripping Patriots wide receivers and pass-catchers. Running back Brandon Jacobs, often known for saying some outlandish things, said Gisele should "be cute and shut up."

NFL Offseason Begins

It was inappropriate, because you never tell another man's wife to "shut up," and Jacobs apologized for it later on Wednesday.

"Given the fact that it's a colleague of mine's wife, I do apologize for saying that, because I shouldn't have said that," Jacobs said Wednesday on The Doug Gottlieb Show. "It's his wife and I should respect that just as much as anyone else."

Jacobs is correct. If he'd said something like "She shouldn't be saying that about his teammates," he would've been lauded for correctly assessing the situation. Using the phrase "shut up" towards another man's wife just isn't something that flies.

As for the "be cute" part of his statement, well, Jacobs isn't apologizing for that.

"No question, he should take that as a compliment," Jacobs said. "If he finds something wrong with that, then that's his problem."

Theoretically, Gisele/Brady could be upset with "cute" since it's not the typical phrase used to describe "one of the most famous supermodels in the world."

Whatever, they got an apology from Jacobs which is a hard thing to do. And something tells us Gisele/Brady will have enough to worry about own on their own without sweating what someone on another team says.

The Constitution? Apparently your parents didn't teach you manners. Manners have nothing to do iwth the Constitution. You don't crack on a fellow player's wife, no matter what she says. She's a wife, and that means for civilized men, she gets a break. I can only assume that your father was so lacking in class that you never learned this basic lesson. I feel sorry for you.

You're right, maybe he should retract his apology.  You must be a professional Public Relations guy.  I can see why you've ascended to All-Star status for your brilliant and insightful posts.  Jacobs must not have meant it when he said you never disrespect another collegue's wife like that.  I guess it's perfectly acceptable as a man to tell another man's wife to Shut Up...drrrrrrrr.  Common man!!!

Brady was reportedly upset that he didn't include "Gisele should be cute and shut up" in his wedding vows.

Brinson, you forgot to get a quote from Snooki to give this article some credibility.  Makes me wish the Pro Bowl would have happened last weekend so we would at least have an article about a worthless football game than whatever this is.

So Brady's wife can criticize players of a sport she knows nothing about, but Jacobs can't fire back just because she's Tom's wife?
Don't try to follow Ryan Wilson logic, it will just make your head explode. I don't know where CBS finds these idiots.

Gisele can pretty much say whatever she wants but there are repurcussions, because everyone else can say pretty much what they want. It is pretty obvious that she isn't the brightest cookie in the jar, she really should just shut up. It's better to just be quiet than to make everyone realize that you're a fool. And yes, it's true, Jacobs is a fool himself too. I'm not putting one over the other, but the focus is more on her comments because she made them first.

I don't know why Jacobs cares, it's not like she was talking about him. She may have annoyed some of the Patriots players, and Brady is probably going to take a lot of ribbing for what she said, but that's not Jacob's problem. Before Gisele commented though I had always thought she was probably pretty classy, now I don't think that at all. She sounds like any typical gutter trash.

Kitch, she's a fan like anybody else. It's not like her husband is POTUS, is it? She put her husband and her self in a bit of a spot with the Patriots' receivers, but that's between her and him and them. It's not like she's some celebuwhore who went looking for a camera. Somebody shoved it into her face and she spoke out of frustration. The very same frustration being felt by Welker and Branch.

We actually are relishing about our victory. It's nice to have "fortunate" victories as you say.  Coming from a guy who's team won when a guy couldnt secure a TD catch and avoided OT because a kicker missed a chippy.
By the way, It looked liked Gronk got over the loss real quick didn't it?

Jacobs apologizes for telling Gisele to 'shut up'

Why should Jacobs apologize. Doesn't our Constitution say free speech. This country, mostly athletes and celebrities are so thin skinned it makes me sick. She shouldn't be throwing anyone under the bus. They will probably be divorce in 5 years anyway. Look at the past celebrity marriages. Average length is 5 years. She justed repeated from the great Tom Brady probably uttered after the game. He always says the blame is on him, but it doesn't mean it. Watch his games, he is always pointing fingers at everyone else. Why didn't Gisele say anything about his bonehead play that set up the safety? Besides save this stuff for TMZ or the E Channel.
