Prior to the 2011 season, it was widely believed that the Eagles would land Plaxico Burress in free agency. That's mainly because Philly housed the last convict-turned-NFL-player in Michael Vick, whether that presumptive logic was right or wrong.

NFL Offseason Begins

Plax, of course, ended up playing for the Jets, and caught 45 passes for 612 yards and eight touchdowns. He'll be a free agent on March 13, though, and according to Howard Eskin of NBC 10 in Philadelphia, he "wants" to play for the Eagles this time around.

"Saw and talked to Plaxico Burress at Super Bowl and told me he wants to play for Eagles," Eskin tweeted on Wednesday. "Badly!"

We also saw Plaxico at the Super Bowl while dining at Mo's Steakhouse in Indianapolis, but we didn't get a chance to ask him any questions, because we were too busy cackling about the wide receiver giving a bro-hug to Jared Fogle of Subway. (We were too stunned to take a picture, but we have witnesses. This really happened.)

Eskin followed up on the tweet with NBC Philly's David Chang, although he wasn't quite as emphatic about it happening.

"I do believe the Eagles will take a hard look at signing Plaxico Burress," Eskin said.

Burress wasn't fantastic in 2011; though he tied for the 11th-most touchdowns in 2011, he certainly wasn't close to the 11th-best wide receiver in the league. He's not going to be a deep threat at his age, but he can be a dangerous red-zone weapon, which is something the Eagles could really use.

If DeSean Jackson isn't franchise-tagged and/or doesn't receive a deal, the Eagles will suddenly be a team in need of a wide receiver. That would likely ramp up the potential interest in a guy like Burress.

Report: Plaxico 'badly' wants to play for Eagles

I do not think the Eagles would even consider bringing in Plaxico. He is another big ego that would be added to a bunch of ultra egos. The Eagles better focus on signing Jackson and building on the chemistry they finally found at the end of the season. I’m not an Eagles fan but they were as good as anyone the last four games of the season so why change anything. They need to get some help on the Defensive line and Offensive Line and they will be Super Bowl contenders not pretenders. They are already enough talent at the skill positions. They do not need a head case like Plaxico in their locker room or on the field besides Jackson would probably walk for sure.

Report: Plaxico 'badly' wants to play for Eagles

I do believe Eagles and Plaxico Burress would be a "GREAT MOVE FOR FOOTBALL." Pairing him up with Michael Vick would be epic. Especially if they succeed. If the Eagles bring back DeSean Jackson as well, I really do think that having Steve Smith, who I wouldn't give up on, and also Jason Avant. I mean If I was the Eagles I would get rid of Asante Samuel, whom the Eagles, remember played for the New England Patriots, would be a great fit in the Miami Dolphins Organization, whom by the way I hope someday Jeff Ireland Sees this posting soon because opposing him to Tom Brady and Getting Payton Manning while having Brandon Marshall is a Modern Day Marino with the possible best Reciver in the ENTIRE LEAGUE. The Eagles having Rodgers-Cromartie who is only 25 and Nhamdi Ashoumuga on the corners and having a Nickel Corner like Joselio Hansen would be great for them while having Kurt Coleman, a very underrated young Free Saftey, whom not very long ago wasn't even thought of because the Eagles had Brian Dawkins, one of the Greatest Safties of All-Time. My Personal Favorite Saftey of all time, whom once again made the Pro Bowl at the age of 38 and had another solid season after only playing 14 games for the Denver Broncos, whom should definately give Brady Quinn a Chance to start because he is only 27 years old who I still to this day wish the Miami Dolphins would have Drafted. Another Stupid move and why the Dolphins should get Manning becuase he is very closely mentioned to Dan Marino and would be a dangerous move after missing out on Brees Twice and Failing with Culpepper, the Single WORST Decision in Miami Dolphins Team Orginatizion history. But The Eagles will be a Team Right Back up there if they add a guy like Burress, and based on what they have in place. Not to mention they have Casey Matthews, the Brother of the Clay Maker, Clay Matthews. Many Issues being played out in the NFL, but the Eagles should definatley give Burress a look.

"The idea of extra weapons always to supplement Jackson, Avant , Maclin & Celek intrest me."

Weapons was not the best choice of word, in a story related to Burress.  LOL.
