On Wednesday evening, Ryan Wilson passed along a report that Peyton Manning's arm "is a noodle." That description was not complimentary. And neither is the the description of Manning from NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.
Manning's Offseason Saga

Lombardi, appearing with Bill Simmons on "The BS Report," said that Manning "can't throw the ball to his left." Ruh-roh.

"I've talked to people who have caught the ball for him," Lombardi said. "He can't throw the ball to his left. He can't throw the ball across his body because he doesn't feel it. People that catch the ball for him say that he doesn't really have the velocity on the ball yet."

Maybe Peyton's just not an ambi-thrower? Eh, that seems unlikely, since we have a reasonable sample size to back up Peyton's ability to throw all over the field. Instead maybe it's possible that the "noodle" report and the "can't throw the ball to his left" report are just really one and the same.

Right now, the strength of the nerves in Manning's arms simply aren't built up enough to throw the ball well. That's bad news for Manning's future, but the good news is that Manning has a month to continue rehabbing and prove that he's healthy enough to play in the NFL.

If he's shown improvement with the strength and velocity on his throws by March 8, it's possible Jim Irsay will keep him on the Colts. (It's possible. Just not likely.) And if Irsay doesn't keep Manning, then Peyton will have until March 13 to prove to teams he's improving enough to step in and produce in 2012.

Of course, if reports are still circulating about Manning's lack of arm strength at that time, it might not matter.

Report: Peyton can't 'throw the ball to his left'

funny but i just read. the reports of journalists/national inquirer contributors or what ever you want to call writers these days are now beyond laughable.....

Bill Polian: Peyton Will Return At A 'High Level', Adam Vinatieri Says Peyton Is 'Not That Far Off'

Very interesting. Here's another valuable source that has taken a look at Manning tossing the pigskin and he believes he is "not that far off." Vinatieri notes seeing Manning "at the end of the season." This would put his recollected time-frame very close to Polian's.

What "pleased" means? Who knows? Irsay has proclaimed that if healthy, Manning will remain a Colt. Well, with these tidbits of info coming to light, it certainly makes the pressure to keep Manning a little more intense.

If Manning's arm doesn't resemble a "noodle", the velocity is there, and he can make accurate throws, there's really no way to justify letting him walk. If he doesn't want to be here, that's one thing. But Manning has a shot to finish his career right where it started. He also would be an invaluable bridge to the  era. Luck is going to be faced with some transition obstacles, just like every rookie quarterback that's came into the league. Why not let the greatest take him under his wing?  In fact, he would "embrace" such an opportunity. The restructuring of Manning's contract is also there for the taking. Manning's camp recently sent out a signal indicating as much, stating that Manning would be interested in a no guaranteed money, incentive-laden deal. And despite whatever negativity we've heard in the back and forth between Irsay and Manning, Irsay has also told us that it's .

Report: Peyton can't 'throw the ball to his left'

Actually he'd have until September.  If he's at 100% on opening day, somebody is going to sign him and play him.

Report: Peyton can't 'throw the ball to his left'

The guy just had 3 neck operations. I think that any normal guy would need think to recover power and movement in his body. I have a feeling he will go to the dolphins. No way he goes to the skins and plays eli two times a year. Daddy will want them to be AFC NFC..Bank on that, why do really believe Eli pulled that crap on SD?

Report: Peyton can't 'throw the ball to his left'

agiin the guy who did the surgery on his neck said the fusion took and it is not a saftey issue it's a performance issue, and actually he does not have to wait until march 13th to recieve calls from teams, as if the colts cut him on march 8th, then any team will be able to sign him, and you notice how lombardi prefaced his report with yet, and i think the nerves will regenerate, and it's not like he's behind schedule, as weinke had this same surgery and it took him 9 months to get the nerves back in his arm

Report: Peyton can't 'throw the ball to his left'

I think anyone that hasn't thrown a football in over a year, is going to be throwing poorly. Give the man some time to build up his strength. Seriously, everything that comes out about Peyton is ridiculous and boring. I don't want to hear about every time he sneezes or "has a noodle arm"...The next article that should be written is about if the Colts keep him, or if they release him.

Report: Peyton can't 'throw the ball to his left'

This store is getting old..
it reminds me of the whole Brett Favre off season thing.
Manning is going to play..
The story won't go away till 2 things happen, first that Manning prove that he is healthy again which can't happen for some time. Or that he retire from the NFL
