Ahmad Bradshaw takes shot at Tony Romo

Romo

BradshawBy Josh Katzowitz

Just because Tony Romo is coming off another solid season and shrugged off so many of the previous expectations/assumptions about his toughness and ability to play in the clutch, that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to find his fellow colleagues to rip him whenever they get the chance.

I mean, the guy played with a punctured lung (and won!)and then, at the end of the season, he played with a bad hand, but hell, that apparently didn’t really satisfy anybody.

In fact, Romo started every game this season despite a number of ailments and obstacles. Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw was not so impressed.

Bradshaw, coming off his game-winning Super Bowl XLVI touchdown, was asked on the NFL Network if the Cowboys could ever win a Super Bowl with Romo as the starting quarterback. Bradshaw, predictably, doesn’t believe in Romo.

Dallas' quarterbacks
“You know what, man, I don’t see it happening,” Bradshaw said. “I don’t think they believe it, and they’re America’s team.

“It all comes in together. If the fans don’t believe it, the team doesn’t. They’re kinda doubtful with Romo.”

While I'm not sure Bradshaw's reasoning makes sense (since when do players care what fans think about their teammates?), this also isn’t the first time this year a Giants running back has criticized Romo. You might recall Brandon Jacobs saying this in October: “[Eli Manning] is definitely a 100 percent better quarterback than Tony Romo. No question.”

Also criticizing Romo this year? Redskins tight end Chris Cooley and NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders (though Romo also had a pretty big backer (literally and figuratively) in Dirk Nowitzki).

Surprisingly, not everybody, especially those in the Cowboys organization, agrees with Bradshaw (and Jacobs).

“I thought Romo was competing at a level that would’ve given us that opportunity but the rest of us need to play better and get better before we can really gel the way the Giants are,” Jones said at the Senior Bowl last month.

And when CBSSports.com’s Will Brinson caught up with Dallas running back DeMarco Murray during Super Bowl week, Murray defended Romo.

"One week he's a hero, the next week he's not,” Murray said. That's just the way it is with the Dallas Cowboys. We're used to it, we love it and we wouldn't want any one else leading our team."

Obviously, Romo is used to hearing people bash him for a variety of reasons. He tries to turn the other cheek. But he also understands why his vast array of critics say what they do.

"It's just an easy thing to say until you win the Super Bowl," Romo said in November. "Until then any time you lose a game it's a big game. But if you win, then it really wasn't that big of a game. That just goes with the territory."

But from a guy who just won the Super Bowl, Bradshaw’s words can’t feel so good to Romo.

Giants players opening up their mouths again. They are d-bags. They are never respectul of the opposition. I hope Bradshaw or Jacobs or Cruz suffer a career ending injury next season. -------------- You're a special kind of stupid, aren't you? Wishing someone to get seriously injured? What a douchebag.

Actually the last time they beat the Patriots they followed that up with a 12-4 season i wouldn't consider that falling on there face even though they did lose in the playoffs. Considering they've only had 1 losing season in the last 8 yrs they do have some room to talk even though i'm not a fan of it because it tends to put a bigger target on yourself and the team but unfortunately alot of players do it now a days

If your own teammates don't beleive in you, then individual stats don't matter!!!Look at SF with a new coach and a old Qb that no one believed in til this year..Romo needs to depend on a strong Running game to take presuure off him and STOP MAKING DUMB-FAVRE LIKE plays in the game when you don't need to do so!!I dopn't believ that the BOys will ever see a Sb with Romo til they decide to change their game plan /Head Coach who is way over his head. If you replace Garrett with Marty Ball, they would have a better shot at competeing for a Super Bowl!!!Why no team hired Shotty is a complete mystery to me>????It's not Romo's fault, it is  Jones' fault!!!!

lumpoco could not be any more wrong. Obviously you have not been on these boards previously reading how the Eagle and Cowboy fans have trashed the Giants throughout their playoff run. First it was "one and done" against the Falcons. Then it was "they will never beat the Packers in Lambeau", and finally "the San Fran defense will be too much for them to handle". Luck did not help the Giants beat the 49ers. Williams should have been nowhere near that ball that bounced off his knee, and the second fumble was a hard hit that stripped the ball. If you call that luck then what do you have to say about the Patriots win over the Ravens? Evans drops a touchdown pass at the end of the game, which also should have been reviewed. Then Cundiff misses a very makable field goal to put the Patriots in the Superbowl. The media asks these questions because they have nothing better to cover. Bradshaw answered the question in his honest opinion. What's wrong with that? I still see people on these boards trashing Eli Manning who now has 2 Superbowl rings and 2 Superbowl MVP trophies. What do you have to say about that? You probably agree with them. Give the Giants credit.  They endured many ups and downs this season, but found a way to pull together to win a Championship.

Of course they're going to say Eli is better. Eli has 2 SB rings and 2 SB MVPs, but even if he didn't have those things he's the QB of your team, you're going to back him up unless you're Santonio Holmes or another idiot of that ilk. And of course being in the same division, they're going to say they have doubts that Romo could win an SB, but heck, they would say that about Tom Brady too if Brady was in the same division.

These guys have to have healthy confidence themselves. The media is pretty stupid and the Giants right now just don't feel like answering stupid questions with PC responses.

Romo doesnt have the supporting cast like Eli when it comes to WRs. Romo had more Tds and less Ints then Eli. of all the players to say something it had to be a 2nd string RB that didnt do anything during the year(Murray did better) and had a TD givin to him in the Superbowl. Its one thing for a good player to say something about Romo, but a player that isnt even close to good(Bradshaw) needs to worry about himshelf.
