Once upon a time, Cris Carter and Randy Moss were teammates with the Minnesota Vikings. As such, when news arises about Moss, ESPN trots out Cris Carter to make some comments. And over the past couple of days, Carter's managed to make Moss, who recently announced his return to football, something that doesn't resemble happy.

Carter initially said that Moss could hop out of bed and run a 4.3 40-yard dash. But then he added later that Moss has a lot of "quit" in him.

“The one thing you have to address with Randy Moss is not a conditioning thing," Carter said. "It's not an age thing. It needs to be addressed. I believe it's the elephant in the room. It's that thing called quit.

“And Randy, not like any other superstar I've met, he has more quit in him than any of those other players. So I need to addresses that. That's what (New England Patriots coach Bill) Belichick did when he brought him over from Oakland. He told him he wasn't going to have it."

Latest NFL News, Notes

Moss had taken criticism from Carter pretty well, not mentioning it on one of his many USTREAM sessions. He's also been surprisingly contrite since announcing his return. But then he took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon and fired some shots back at his former teammate.

"@criscarter80 its sad how u stroked ur own ego when u were suppose to b my mentor!then u wonder why karma bites u in the ass! #goodlukwithhof," Moss tweeted.

Quick translation: we're not boys anymore. I mean, it's one thing to fire back at Carter for something he did during his career, but ripping Carter for not making the Hall of Fame when one of the arguments against Carter is that Moss overshadowed him in Minnesota is kind of tough.

That being said, Carter stood up on his analyst pedestal and took some shots at a guy who's supposed to be his boy. He shouldn't be surprised if said guy, who doesn't usually operate with a filter in place, fires right back.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

I am not a huge Randy Moss fan but he gave Chris Carter exactly what he deserved.  Carter was a great player  and I personally feel he should, and will get into the HOF. But so will Moss.  Carter has been taking pot shots at a lot of ball players, now that he is in the studio and if Moss was his "boy", there are some things that you just don't say.

Why is Randy Moss upset?  Because what Carter said is true.  Truth hurts.  Man up and prove him wrong, Randy.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

First, Chris Carter offered his opinion on Moss. And to say he quit was kinda wrong in the sense that we don't know what was going on with Moss in his personal life at New Endgland because he keeps things pretty close to the vest. Always has. Moss didn't "quit" in Minnesota or Tenessee in my opinion. He tried to be in the offenses but they used him as a decoy for their other recievers.

But Moss shouldn't have responded to what Carter said because Moss is in the position to make Carter eat those words and look stupid. That's how you handle it.

I understand the feeling of wanted to protect yourself which is what Moss thinks he was doing but in his position (and he has to be aware of his reputation at this point) he has to learn to do things in a politically correct manner.

Moss will still have the chance to prove Carter and everyone wrong so going forward he should just keep his mouth shut and play.

"Not to mention for a lot of Cris Carter's career, playing receiver was a lot harder than it is in the latter half of Moss' career.  You could get away with a lot more as a CB, versus the last decade or so you can barely tap receivers and can't hit them half the time or it's hitting a defenseless receiver or pass interference. "

You see, this is the weakest argument I always see when comparing WR's and their eras. Jerry Rice came into the league 2 YEARS before Carter. Jeery Rice played 16 years and Carter played 12. In what era are you considering Carter played in a harder league? That's not even close to relevent.

Bad, Bad, Bad Timing Randy.  Not sure if CC had any hidden agenda by calling out Randy, but if he did, Randy walked right into head first.
Randy you are smarter than that.....your boy (CC) does not want to see you in the league any more and for those teams on the fence by adding you to their roster....well lets just say this probably is not a good career decision.

Those stats you posted...yeah that for a 12 year carreer. Moss only played in 8. So let's try that again.

Games:
Carter  234
Moss   202

Receptions:
Carter  1101
Moss   954

Rec Yards:
Carter   13899
Moss     14858

TDs:
Carter   130
Moss     153

Super Bowl Appearances:
Carter 0
Moss   1

Undefeated regular seasons:
Carter   0
Moss     1

You got nothing. moron. your mouth is as loud as Carter's without a thing to back it up.
Save the boards for the adults.

Randy Moss started 193 out of those 202 games. Cris Carter started 173 out of the 234 games played. Not to mention for a lot of Cris Carter's career, playing receiver was a lot harder than it is in the latter half of Moss' career.  You could get away with a lot more as a CB, versus the last decade or so you can barely tap receivers and can't hit them half the time or it's hitting a defenseless receiver or pass interference.  Also as a Viking's fan, I am a fan of both of these guys as players, so I'm not being biased at all. Carter had amazing hands, if not the best hands ever to play the game and Moss got a major chunk of his TD's and yardage in a pass happy league which the NFL has become in the 21st century. It still takes skill to get 23 TD's in a season and so on and I think both are HOF bound, Carter should've already been in and Moss will get in as well. To throw out SB appearences and undefeated regular seasons is stretching it, because an individual can only do so much towards a team making it to the SB or going 16-0. Like I said I think it's a tough call to pick between the 2, because they are entirely different type of receivers as Moss was a deep threat with speed and Carter was a dependable receiver that would catch anything in his direction.

Just another fool who loves to see himself talk. Well congrats to you, joe bob. you at least accomplished that. Now go away and grow up so the rest of us can have meaningful convos.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

Most people would agree with Carter.. coke or not, Carter never quit.. is it wrong that he went public about this.. possibly.. wrong enough for Moss to be throwing the Karma word around.. definately not.. the man is entitled to his opinion, he was his teamate for half of their careers.. Moss is soft, and he has done nothing to disearn that title. Was he as disruptive as an Owens? Certainly not I will give him that.. but tipping plays because you know your not in a certain play so you are at the line with your head down and your gloves unstrapped.. letting people on the other side know they dont have to worry about you... is wrong!
