Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn will be a free agent on March 13. While he didn't make our list of top free-agent quarterbacks (although he was honorable mention!), he'll likely end up landing a backup job somewhere for the 2012 season.

Just don't count on it being Denver, at least based on the quotes he gave Mike Silver for an oral history of Tebowmania in the latest issue of GQ.

"Early in the season, there was a game when Kyle [Orton] got hurt and the coaches were calling for me to go in, but Kyle got up and finished the game out," Quinn said. "So I was the second-string guy. Then, a few weeks later, they decided to put Tim in. I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just 'cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn't have any billboards. That would have been nice."

This is a harmless quote. You don't have to be a backup quarterback to want billboards pulling for you all over the town you live in.

But Quinn's comments took a different tone as his comments continued throughout the article.

"We've had a lot of, I guess, luck, to put it simply," Quinn said, recalling the Broncos memorable overtime win over the Bears.

Again, more or less harmless. Marion Barber running out of bounds and then fumbling is the definition of luck. It's not the greatest thing in the world to say about your (former?) teammates, especially if you want your job again in 2012, but it's not incendiary. But how do you feel about the way Tim acts off the field, Brady?

Latest NFL News, Notes

"If you look at it as a whole, there's a lot of things that just don't seem very humble to me," Quinn said. "When I get that opportunity, I'll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?"

Annnnnnd ... scene. At least on Quinn's career with the Broncos. Remember, they shipped Kyle Orton out of town because he was going to be a pain in the locker room. And they already know what they've got in Quinn (read: a guy who can't beat out Tebow for the backup job).

The Broncos said they want to bring in two more quarterbacks to generate some competition, but they're unlikely to bring in (or back) anyone who might truly try and undermine Tebowmania in Denver. If you're coming out to Mile High, you've got buy into the idea that you're going to get pelted with foam crosses should you win the starting gig.

But maybe Quinn's comments in the magazine aren't as bad as represented. Quinn released a statement on Twitter Tuesday afternoon refuting the nature of his comments in Silver's article.

"The comments attributed to me in a recent magazine article are in NO WAY reflective of my opinion of Tim and the Broncos," Quinn tweeted. "Tim deserves a lot of credit for our success and I'm happy for him and what he accomplished. Most importantly, he is a great teammate. That interview was conducted three months ago, and the resulting story was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments.

"I have addressed my disappointment with the writer and have reached out to Tim to clear this up. I apologize to anyone who feels I was trying to take anything away from our Team's or Tim's success this season."

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Hey 50% is better than 25% which is what you would get with that pretty boy who spends all his weight room time working on his biceps rather than actually trying to compete in the NFL.  He just wants a nice paycheck so he can spend his time looking at himself in the mirror.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Find the video of Tebow kneeling in the endzone immediately after scoring a TD.  It doesn't exist.  Because instead of being a glory hound for the camera after he scores, Tebow pumps his arms and immediately seeks out his teammates for an uncoordinated group celebration....runs to the sideline.....and while the conversion is happening and the camera is OFF of him....he kneels in thanks.

Secondly, I'll bet Quinn's closing comments in this article are accurate.  I'll bet he DIDN'T say those things or imply that meaning.  The comments reflected by others on this board are EXACTLY what the writer of that piece was trying to accomplish......and a few dull minds seem to have taken the bait.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

I would rather have Quinn than Tebow, at least he can complete over 50% of his passes. Quinn never really had a shot since he was drafted to the place where QBs go to die. Tebowmania did get out of hand and though I agree with a lot Brady Quinn said, it should be known that this interview took place 3 months ago.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

I don't know what Brady Quinn's definition of 'humble' is, but Tim Tebow seems to be one of the best actual people associated with sports that's come along recently.  Say what you will about him as a player &/or how much potential for growth as a QB he has, but this seems abundantly clear.

Nothing that happened in the McDaniel era counts. That dude set the Broncos back years. I say that and I hate the Broncos.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Te-BLOW, Te-BLOW, Te-BLOW!!! GD preacher boy. I've never EVER seen a QB who's done so little statistically, yet get so much praise(LMAO) for doing so little. You know how stupid it's gotten? If anyone here watches the NFL Network, and I'm sure some of you do out there. Ever notice how on their Top 5 plays of the year commercial, Tim Tebow's 15 cyard rossing pattern toss to Damarius Thomas is now on the list. Yet, the man who had the number 1 play of the year, Jerome Simpson is not on there anymore. The man did a 360 in the air Over a defender and he gets bumped for Tebow's "simple" pass play. Simply amazing isn't it. Just another example of Te-BLOW sucking the air out of anything good. How many times this year have we seen a WR go for a 70 yarder? Plenty and I don't see them on the list. KOOL-AID, KOOL-AID, KOOL-AID, KOOL-AID!

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

I love this.  Even Tebows own teamates think he is a joke, and he is.  The Broncos got on a winning streak because they play amazing defense.  Von Miller should have been the face of that team durning there winning streak.  He did more than Tebow ever will for this team.  Plus it was all luck that they even made the playoffs this year.  I mean you lose your last three games of the year and still make it in.  What a joke.  I will give it up that he did well during the Pit game, but I still think the ofensive cordinators play calling had more to do with that then Tebow's supposed skills.  I truely believe that the only way Tebow will ever get a Super Bowl ring is by being a backup.  He just flat out makes the NFL look bad when he is playing QB.  It's suppose to be the best of the best, Tebow does not fit that catagorie.  I'd choose Quinn over Tebow any day.

The true Christian isnt the guy flashing his faith all over the place like TeBLOW does.

@lovinMSU, First off I find it amusing that someone who is childish enough to think that saying TeBlow is cool or funny is trying to tell people what a true Christian is.

Secondly you are completely wrong.  Sharing your faith and spreading God's word is exactly what a true Christian does.  True Christians dont stay quiet and just show up on Sundays.  Of course they all have a different way of going about it but one thing is for sure and that is they live it everyday and spread the word every chance they get.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Tjis has nothing to do with who the better qb is the fans got what they wanted the yelled for Tebow they got him I feel Quinn is a better qb but doesnt matter what I think Fox and Elway probably thought the same thin but fan pressure and resourcefulness fron Tebow and a very good d against average teams helped keep him in the starters seat. Quin used this to get an exit pass he knows he has no shot at the starters spot in Denver get a early exit and a chance to audition for some pther teams curious thing is what happens next yr if Tebow doesnt progress hard to win a bunch of games by 5 or less sooner or later the odds catch up and defenses too
