By Will Brinson

Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn will be a free agent on March 13. While he didn't make our list of top free-agent quarterbacks (although he was honorable mention!), he'll likely end up landing a backup job somewhere for the 2012 season.

Just don't count on it being Denver, at least based on the quotes he gave Mike Silver for an oral history of Tebowmania in the latest issue of GQ.

"Early in the season, there was a game when Kyle [Orton] got hurt and the coaches were calling for me to go in, but Kyle got up and finished the game out," Quinn said. "So I was the second-string guy. Then, a few weeks later, they decided to put Tim in. I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just 'cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn't have any billboards. That would have been nice."

This is a harmless quote. You don't have to be a backup quarterback to want billboards pulling for you all over the town you live in.

But Quinn's comments took a different tone as his comments continued throughout the article.

"We've had a lot of, I guess, luck, to put it simply," Quinn said, recalling the Broncos memorable overtime win over the Bears.

Again, more or less harmless. Marion Barber running out of bounds and then fumbling is the definition of luck. It's not the greatest thing in the world to say about your (former?) teammates, especially if you want your job again in 2012, but it's not incendiary. But how do you feel about the way Tim acts off the field, Brady?

Latest NFL News, Notes

"If you look at it as a whole, there's a lot of things that just don't seem very humble to me," Quinn said. "When I get that opportunity, I'll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?"

Annnnnnd ... scene. At least on Quinn's career with the Broncos. Remember, they shipped Kyle Orton out of town because he was going to be a pain in the locker room. And they already know what they've got in Quinn (read: a guy who can't beat out Tebow for the backup job).

The Broncos said they want to bring in two more quarterbacks to generate some competition, but they're unlikely to bring in (or back) anyone who might truly try and undermine Tebowmania in Denver. If you're coming out to Mile High, you've got buy into the idea that you're going to get pelted with foam crosses should you win the starting gig.

But maybe Quinn's comments in the magazine aren't as bad as represented. Quinn released a statement on Twitter Tuesday afternoon refuting the nature of his comments in Silver's article.

"The comments attributed to me in a recent magazine article are in NO WAY reflective of my opinion of Tim and the Broncos," Quinn tweeted. "Tim deserves a lot of credit for our success and I'm happy for him and what he accomplished. Most importantly, he is a great teammate. That interview was conducted three months ago, and the resulting story was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments.

"I have addressed my disappointment with the writer and have reached out to Tim to clear this up. I apologize to anyone who feels I was trying to take anything away from our Team's or Tim's success this season."

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

I can't tell you how Tebow is gonna do next year. I can't tell you how many games he'll start, or win, or throw touchdowns in, or how many TD's he'll throw. Nobody can. But I can tell you one thing. If Tebow and the Broncos do ok next year, I mean a respectable 10-6 or 9-7, what will the trolls who claim they hate Tebow, but comment on every article about him do? Will they crawl back under their respective rocks and shut their holes and admit they were wrong? If not publicly then at least to themselves? Nope. They will be on here posting about how it was Denver's defense that won the game, or the fact that KC blew a lead, or Tebow got lucky. And they'll have excuses and whines the year after that, and the year after that too. You can bank on it. They will never learn. Timmy wasn't the best NFL QB out of college, or the best pocket passer, or defense reader, but he's learned. He did get drafted. He didn't spend all season carrying a clipboard on the sidelines. He did get put into games. He did get the starting job. He did throw touchdowns. He did get his team to the playoffs. He learned. You bone heads never will, even after you're proved wrong again and again. Have fun hatin' haters, it seems to be all you've got. Cool

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

I don't know if Tebow will ever be a very succesful QB but I do know the guy is humble.  So he prays... I have never seen him look for camera's to do anything he does, the camera's seek him out.

I have seen other players score touchdowns then go to the sidelines and pray why does Timmy have to do it in the endzone?  There is no difference between his praying and these other d bags that spike the ball or do a dance.  Its all for show.  When you score and you do anything in the endzone OTHER THAN hand the ball to the ref and go to the sideline you know the outcome.  You know the Camera is on you.

Barry Sanders used to score a lot of touchdowns and he would just hand the ball to the ref and go back to the sidelines.

The true Christian isnt the guy flashing his faith all over the place like TeBLOW does.  Tim does it for the attention because his knows his talent sure isnt going to get the attention so why not use the praying to get it?

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Wow, someone from Notre Dame calling out someone for a lack of humility and shamelessly using religion to promote themselves. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Just like he cried and threw a fit when he was not drafted as early as he thought he would be. Quinn time to man up and shut your mouth.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

There's an old saying in life..."Don't burn your bridges". This is what Broncos( or former Broncos) QB Brady Quinn is doing. Lighting the the way for Tim Tebow to be number one again...and bidding farewell to his current team. I don't know why he thinks he got a raw deal...those things just happen. Just ask Drew Bledsoe when Tom Brady took over the Patriots helm, and never let it go. Bledsoe went to the Bills the following year, and his last stop was the Cowboys, where he was unseated by another unknown named Tony Romo.

Unfortunately for Brady, he wasn't the guy on the winning end of the deal, but someone has to be the fall guy, or the guy who got replaced. That's football life in the NFL...and in life as well. Sometimes, you are lucky and are in the right place at the right time...sometimes, you're not.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

And they already know what they've got in Quinn (read: a guy who can't beat out Tebow for the backup job).
Brinson is a moron.  Quinn DID beat out Tebow for the backup job during training camp and the preseason.  Quinn WAS listed as the #2 QB on the depth chart leading up to the Charger game that Tebow was handed the starting gig during.  Quinn got bypassed by Tebow on the depth chart despite Quinn holding down the #2 spot all season.  Considering neither Tebow NOR Quinn threw a pass up to that point, how did Quinn not beat out Tebow for the backup job?  Fox putting Tebow in had everything to do with fan pressure and nothing to do with performance.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Sorta hard to respond, Quinn definitely has been in a better position than myself to observe Tim's behavior up close and personal.  I think Tim does a good job handling the PR aspect of being a professional athlete but given the fact he's a gifted athlete and pretty much has had the world swooning at his feet since high school it's not a stretch to believe that Tim has some hubris issues.  He's not God, he's human which means he's subject to all the sins of man.

That being said, B. Quinn should probably worry about B. Quinn and not T. Tebow.  It does come off as a little bit of sour grapes (again natural) but things better said in private among people you trust and not a national media source.  Quinn isn't doing himself any favors when it comes to lining up work whether with the Broncs or some other squad.  Not many people appreciate somebody willing to air their feelings about a teammate in a public forum.

We do this all the time: the media elevates a guy and reports on him non-stop then the fans turn on that guy because they are sick of the coverage.  Not the guy's fault.

I have watched him since he was a freshamn as a Gator, the man is the epitome of class and being humble.

Quinn: Tebow actions 'don't seem very humble'

Run Quinn out of town it really doesn't matter. He sucks and so does Tebow. Bronco fan...have you looked at your schedule next year? You guys are going to be 4-12 with Tebow at the helm with that schedule.  Maybe you shuold start praying right now...that your GM drafts a real QB in April...
