Terrell Owens, looking to get back into pro football, did just that Saturday night in his debut for the Allen (Texas) Wranglers of the Indoor Football League, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Owens caught three passes for 49 yards and three touchdowns in Allen's 50-30 opening victory at home over the Wichita Wild.

“I think I did all right,” Owens told the Morning News. “I’m just really trying to keep myself in shape for the most part. I feel like I’m healthy enough to play football. There’s not anything that I can’t do.”

The 38-year-old was on the field for 38 plays and was targeted five times in front of a crowd of 5,711. Wranglers owner Jon Frankel told the Morning News that the crowd was larger than the total home attendance for the 2011 season.

Owens hasn’t caught a pass in an NFL game since Dec. 12, 2010 and is using the IFL club as a hopeful springboard to an NFL tryout. He possesses an opt-out clause, in case an NFL franchise offers him a contract. However, after having a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee repaired last year, he hasn’t received much interest from NFL teams.

Facing some press and man-to-man coverage, Owens did not catch a pass in the third or fourth quarters.

RC -I am going to assume you are joking.  I notice when Carson arrived in Oakland he lobbied for Houshmanzadeh. The Raiders would have brought in Jerry Rice if Carson wanted him. Notably absent from Palmer's wish list....TO.  I used to think more of Owens, until I really watched his last couple of seasons.  It was all about personal stats and longevity.  I want players that play like they will live forever.  Not a guy who knows father time has it in for him.

TO doesnt know what TEAM means. He takes plays off, doesnt like to go across the middle, Blames everyone else for losses, refuses to block for others who may have the ball, and those are not counting his locker room cancer issues.  At this stage in his career, I dont see ANY reason an NFL team would waste their time.

T.O is not a bad football player at all and people need to stop saying that he is. he was one of the best recievers in his prime but he couldn't keep his mouth closed. If he could learn to do that he might actually have a chance in the NFL with a team like the browns or rams.

BringDaNoise, can you pass the PurpleDrank over here some next. I want to say stupid thingz too. I love how there are not 5 players in the NFL that want it more... Maybe since his window has eluded him he wants it bad now, all he had to do was play and shut up. He did one.

Ya, bringdanoise,...I'll give you one good reason, he's a chemistry/locker room cancer. Even if he comes close to being the slightest bit helpfull, he's just not worth the trouble. There's a life lesson here, don't burn your bridges, as you may need to cross the river again.

Hey Spagman, TO is not in the AFL. He is in the IFL, a much lesser indoor sports league. We should all remember that at this point not even the AFL is interested in this guy.

Say what you want about TO.. But the guy's a warrior, he never seems to give up.
He wants to play and I don't see why there isn't at least one team willing to give him a dang workout..
Yea he was annoying back in the day, but there's not 5 players in the league that want to win more than him.
Props to TO on the work ethic and drive to win.
