INDIANAPOLIS -- If you thought it was impossible for NFL people to fall more in love with Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, you thought wrong. RG3 proved exactly why on Sunday, shredding the 40-yard dash and looking as fast as expected en route to running an official 4.41 40-yard dash.

Andrew Luck, not exactly known as a speedster, was perhaps more impressive with his unofficial 4.59 40 time, later changed to a 4.67 official time.

Griffin's time (both officially and unofficially) was the second-fastest by a quarterback since 2006, with only Reggie McNeal's time of 4.35 in 2006 beating him out. Russell Wilson of Wisconsin ran a 4.50 40 for the second-fastest time of the day, and Jordan Jefferson of LSU ran a 4.59.

The bump up from unofficial to official doesn't matter too much; Griffin got below 4.4 seconds on an unofficial time and that's all people around the league really need to see.

Griffin ran track at Baylor (and in high school) and his performance at the combine -- on the field, in front of the mic, wherever -- has only continued to cement his status as a lock for top-five status in the NFL draft.

It would be stunning, honestly, if RG3 fell further than the second pick. There's a strong belief that the Rams will hold an auction for the No. 2 pick and that someone will pay a hefty price to move up and grab Griffin.

Which is why folks in St. Louis should be enjoying this almost as much as teams who are chasing Griffin are.

When I watch highlights of RG3 at Baylor, I see him throwing to alot of open recievers. I really wonder how he's going to do when he gets drafted to a crappy team with recievers who can't get open. (Testeverde) Cam did better than I thought he would, especially in Carolina. I think of St. Louis and Bradford, he hasn't shown he can stay healthy. If RG3 is all he is cracked up to be, I would be dumping Bradford. (nothing special) Watch, someone we don't know on this list will be the world beater, reminds me of the draft with Eli and Philip, Ben pops out to be the better QB. Who is the hidden gem?

Wow, I had no intention of commenting on this article, but after reading your post, I feel like I have no choice. My guess is that you're the guy who always thought he was a huge stud in high school, and that he ran the place, but was looked down on by every single person for being a tool. And even if what you said is true, have fun pining for the varsity years because you couldn't do shit in the real world.

RG3 is going to be great. I just hope he doesn't end up in Cleveland or Washington because they are both hurting too badly to make use of him. No weapons to help him. Maybe the Rams trade Bradford and stay in the 2nd spot and take RG3?

Any team worrying about the 40 time for a QB is heading for a fall.

How many footballs did he throw through a moving tire? That's what I want to see.

Thank you, Hawkman77. I agree. I was trying to make a point with someone that wasn't up to the task. You are right though. Plus I'm done with it. I made my point, and had numbers to back it up.

Last thing! The part that really got me was that he was proud of picking on fat kids, and nerds, and had the balls to add that mess to his post like it was a badge of honor.
