For the past few years, the NFL's kicked off each season with a Thursday-night game featuring the previous year's Super Bowl champion. This year, though, the kickoff will be on a Wednesday, to avoid Barack Obama's scheduled speech at the Democratic National Convention, Commissioner Roger Goodell announced on Tuesday.

Latest NFL News, Notes

The specific Wednesday in question September 5, 2012 and it will feature the Giants, as expected. It'll take place on NBC, beginning at 8:30 pm ET, with an NFL Kickoff 2012 special airing at 7:30 pm ET.

Currently the Giants are scheduled to host the Saints, Buccaneers, Browns, Steelers, their NFC East division foes and ... the Packers. Green Bay, as the 2010 champion, makes the most sense as a potential opening game for the Giants.

The NFL has yet to announce that however, but made the information about the move from a Thursday to a Wednesday public early on.

So much for the idea that the NFL was more powerful than the President.

How Dare they.  This is outrageous.  Now I will have to watch NFL one day earlier.  I don't care that it was moved a day up.  I just think the reasons for doing so are laughable.  Since when are politics more important then sports??

Ha, I am not a democrat...but I would like to think that voters who are undecided, would be more likely to vote for Obama and the democrats, if they were to somehow find a way not to disrupt the NFL kickoff day!  Don't laugh at this....those voters know who they are!!!Wink

Obama is more dangerous than Iran and 100 Bin Ladens combined.  Voting for him is like killing your own children because they will have no future after he destroys the country.

Hater

When a third party takes your income and distributes back to the SEIU, NEA, and public sector unions who inturn uses that money to put those officials right back in office what would you call it?

Today we pay income tax, Social Security tax, state tax, county tax, property tax, sales tax, gas tax, energy tax, tax on your cell phone, tax on beer, tax on tobacco, and many many others and we are told we dont pay enough. What do we get for it in return? a nation that is 16 trillion in debt and growing.

At some point will the government ever live within their means like the rest of us? They would rather have you point your finger at a person who went out and became successful and who pays over half of their income into the government who turns around and spends it on things to get themselves reelected.

If you want to fix things might I suggest a balanced budget ammendment, term limits, open our nation up to energy exploration, enforce our imagration laws, and put an end to all of the junk lawsuites by making the loooser pay court costs.

Vote None of the Above in November! Not one candidate has any lick of sense.

And this is a sports forum, if you wish to rant on a soapbox about how great your party is, that doesn't even represent you as they did years ago, go find a political forum.
